Can someone explain me why the Passat in America is so much worse that the european Passat?
@Humortroll5 жыл бұрын
It's a lot cheaper though. Definitely preferring the EU model.
@hsvcommodore41115 жыл бұрын
Because americans have different taste than europeans. For example a buick or a gmc interior to most people in the usa is luxury (or atleast premium) where as most europeans think that those are junk interiors

Picked up a new 2020. As an American it’s an upgrade from the Jetta in terms of interior space. It’s big inside which us Americans like, it rides nice and it has some features that the Jetta didn’t have and it feels safe. The LED headlights and tail lights IMO look great and they are very functional especially on dark back roads. The engine does seem to be really detuned so far I’m running regular fuel but going to try premium this weekend see how it runs.

I was talking to a Toyota sales person a few months ago and inquired why they do not have any Camrys on the lot with the V6. He responded that they don't sell as once you start getting into that price range most people start looking toward a Lexus. I can imagine the same with with VW nudging on Audi. There is also the thought that VW was the peoples car. An inexpensive, reliable and obtainable mode of transportation for all. People will buy the car because it is inexpensive and would rather not buy a Kia or Hyundai.

@martinscocan52215 жыл бұрын
Very simple, the four brands you mentioned are horrible, and funny enough looking at your list it seems to go from most horrible to least horrible but they are ALL horrible. These guys need to be on the good side of manufacturers to get cars from them to try, if they start saying maitnenace and reliability are horrible they won't get any more cars. Go to Car and Driver website and check their 40.000 mile Long Term tests.... they buy cars and keep them for that mileage and all staff from the magazine drive the cars, give their opinions and they will give you 10K mile updates on all the cars , things that went wrong, maintenance costs, etc..... I find it very helpful and above all very objective. Good Luck!!!

Probably my favorite car I've ever owned was my 2003 Volkwagen Passat W8 4motion 4.0L "W" 8 engine rather than a V8...lol kinda crazy and I'd never heard about such a thing prior to owning this Passat....according to wikipedia...."In practice, the W8 engine is created from two narrow-angle (15 degree) VR4 engines mounted at an angle of 72 degrees from each other on a common crankshaft."...and all I know is this car was amazing!! Fully loaded, I'm talking heated seats and heated mirrors and all that awesomness. only wish mine had been a manual transmission. mine was a semi-automatic with the slap shifter and man that car would freaking haul ass !! 270HP(might've been 275 I can't remember exactly) 4.0Liter W8...it registered 180mphMax and I honestly believe that damn car could do every bit of it too. I had it 155 mph on Interstate I-40 W in east Tennessee where I'm from...I think that was back in 2010ish about one year before I lost my baby 😭😭 lol loved that damn car very very much and it met a sad fate :( to make a long story short kinda a bullshit situation to begin with ...but she was badly injured and left undrivable...had to park the car there til I could make arrangements to get a rollback flatbed tow truck...a bit of time passed before I could manage to move it and I checked on it regularly and then one day I went by that guys house where it was and POOF!! It had disappeared(along with another car parked there on the lot) and the trailer and nearby shed had recently been burnt to the ground along with basically everything on the property wtf. anyways I got back $9500 insurance money back. I wish I'd only done some minor upgrades to it(*ex cool air intake etc etc) just to try to get another 30 to 50 horses out of her. That car was pretty amazing at 270HP but imagining it with somewhere closer to 315 to 325HP mmm kinda gives me a lil chubby just thinking about it 😂😂😂 that car was a sexy little bitch I swear lol look for yourself...This pic is an 2004, mine was '03, but they are literally identical in appearance www.cincinnatiusedautosales.com/vehicle-details/2004-volkswagen-passat-w8-4motion-sedan-e889ab8a1413f4468d8b54a1738b7639 I personally think the 2020 Passat could've been a bit better. If that had a slightly different body kit thrown on it and sit a bit lower to the ground than this one. Then paint it black and give it a few more horses and a 5speed manual transmission and this car would be tight 👌

I drove one today, I loved it! It is much better power wise vs 2017 1.8T for example, the suspension is stiffer and stays flatter in corners where my Passat GT, doesn't, mine feels like a land yacht, it is that bad. The 2020 Passat SEL I drove didn't have the steering wheel paddles, looks like it's an R-Line thing and now you can't get an R-Line with Fender Audio.. sad. I think a lot of people do not understand why VWOA hasn't given this car a digital dash when the $28k Jetta has it, makes no sense. The $32k SEL still doesn't have interior LED lights like the Tiguan or the GTI, no fog lights but they've kept the super comfortable gas pedal position (bottom hinged vs top hinged). I wish they would bring back nice touches like the rear sun shades in the doors and rear window but that's an Atlas thing now. I'd buy the 2020 Passat SEL in a heartbeat, the R-Line still has those terrible flat seats so I'm not sure I'd like that. The "small sunroof" like you guys call it, is the RELIABLE sunroof, the Pano roofs have all types of leaking issues dating back to the MK6 Sportwagen.

I bought my VW Passat SEL 2020 Silver color in Nov 2020 , it’s a really nice car in everything, I just don’t understand people why give bad comments and they say it’s not good car in the US . I drove many cars in the US or other countries like UAE, Jordan, Saudi Arabia and other places, starting from Mercedes Benz to American cars , Japanese from sport kinds to luxury and normal. I really like this car because it’s a nice car on the road . When someone buy a car he or she suppose to maintain it and drive it in the right way , changing oil every 5000 , doing all the other maintenance things and it will last for a long period. I know many people have cars that almost 400000 miles on it and still working like a charm in a hot climates like Saudi Arabia, so it’s not the problem of the cars it’s the problem of the owners who don’t want to maintain their car starting from driving these cars to do the right maintenance. Cars like any other products in our life if we use them in carelessly way it will not maintain for a long period of time.

1. Love the intro. 2. Why, why, why is VW trying to kill it's midsize sedan? This could be a great car! Instead, it's mediocre at best. They could at least have put the GTI/GLI engine in it to split the power difference between the old 4 and 6 cyl. Wouldn't have been a rocketship, but it would certainly be better than it is, which is a lot less HP than the base Camry and Accord. Interior is boring and cheap, though I do like it better than the Camry's interior. Not many reasons to buy one except maybe deep discounts on the dealer lot for people who just don't care about cars.

Fun video. The base model of Camry, Accord, Sonata, Malibu, Optima, are far better sedans. But if you are stuck in the Eighties, this is the car for you. Europeans get a far far better Passat, especially the GTE plug-in hybrid Passat wagon. You have to get on a waitlist to get one.
