It’s good to see that the laser community is so safety conscious. It reminds me of the gun community. The difference is that lasers seem so innocent. Everyone knows guns can kill you. I was lurking the laser forums a few years ago, planning to build a really powerful (maybe 1W I think) blue laser. Then I started to realize that it’s just not worth it. You have to wear glasses to be safe, which means you can’t really even see the beam, and if you did accidentally hit something reflective that shot the beam back into your eye, you would be blinded before you can blink. Scary stuff.

@@fizzmoe9846 in your home is absolutely debatable, especially if you have kids, but you're an idiot if you don't think its practical to carry when out and about. the simple fact of the matter is that the broad majority of cases where you would NEED to draw your gun is in very close distances, and at such distances you might not be able to pull your gun out and chamber a round before your assailant either already fucked you up or caught wind of what your doing and either closes the distance or puts you out of business first. the reason i bring up distance, however, is mostly your point about "thinking where you're aiming" which is silly, you don't think; you act on your training, which is why most self defense advocates stress the importance of drilling yourself so that such actions become second nature. Likewise, at such short distances you don't need to carefully think and aim as if you were placing a long distance shot in a competition or something along those lines

I remember when Radio Shack had a part number to a part that when installed in the vhf ham radio opened up the full vhf band to transmit. It was no big deal for any of the other companies but Radio Shack had a fit and they went to extreme lengths to buy all the parts and the design of the chip and they destroyed all of them. Not a single one exists but you can still find the schematic with the part number and where it hooked up inside the radio. Add a cartridge power pack instead of internal batteries and carry spare batteries in your ammo pack for "reloading" when the battery runs out and you are ready for a small war. This could even bring down aircraft by puncturing the fuel tank. Boom! Even tanks can be vulnerable by aiming at the little portholes or do tanks use video cameras and internal screens these days.
