Thank you, Chevy for building the truck I have been waiting for. Big V8, 10 speed, lift, wheels/ tires, dual exhaust, and that's ALL. I love this truck for what it DOESNT HAVE. No silly features you will never use, no hands free back up (I can do it myself, thanks), no over the top luxury car interior, no video game dashboard, and no fold away shifter that disappears into the console because...well, I dont know why it does that. Its a just great looking truck that wont cost you 75 thousand bucks. That Trail Boss package is great because you can get it on almost every Silverado, from the base Custom on up to the top trim level. That base Custom looks head and shoulders better than any other base truck out there.

Amen! I've always been a Ford guy, and my 2011 F150 XLT is starting to show its age. FX4 package is a joke, and Raptor is way too expensive with dealer markups. After watching Ram and Chevy eat away at their sales with Rebel/Trail Boss, Ford releases the Tremor package, but again its way too $$$. In a year or two when I'm in the market for a truck, this will definitely be top on my list to try out, especially the Custom trim. It's got exactly what I need, and nothing I don't, as you said. Great job Chevrolet.

I have this exact truck (except in shadow grey) and yes it stickers at 48k...but I got mine for 40k. Chevy is finally making more of this combination (Custom Trail Boss with 6.2/10 speed) so hopefully people can negotiate for a well equipped 40k truck. Also, the plastic steering wheel was the one thing I hated...so I bought a premium leather wrap kit online for 40 bucks and now I drive around with a comfy steering wheel, apple car play and satellite radio. I hope Chevrolet keeps pumping out this combination.

@@ericahearn9604 I used a company called “wheelskins”. I’ve had it for three months now and it has really formed well to the wheel and feels very natural in hand now.

@@marcovhv I can’t seem to attach pictures but I’d be happy to email them to you. My truck, 2021 Custom Trail Boss, Crew Cab, short bed, 6.2/10 speed, Custom Convenience and Infotainment Packages, Dark Essentials Package and the complete floor liners front and rear (Weather Tech knockoffs) had a sticker of $47,955 or 48K. In December of 2020 the “Family First” discount got it to $41,596 without me negotiating at all. After a long Friday of negotiating they gave me another $1000 off about thirty minutes before close and I picked the truck up after it was prepped on Saturday. If you want I can email you the info and there are several ways to get the discount. Most people can get the GM Supplier discount from someone in their family. If that doesn’t work the law Enforcement, fire fighting, EMT and military discounts are there. If you do research on discounts before you go and stalk the truck you want while it is in transit to the dealer you can usually do pretty well. Just make sure the dealer doesn’t make up for a good price with your trade in or in financing. I also had that lined up before I went. They like to interchange the vehicle price, trade in and financing and when you think you have a bargain on one area...they change the number somewhere else. I like to work each part separately and lock them in to a number. So, get to a price on the truck and that is that... if you have a trade in they should be willing to be in the range Chevrolet has for your trade in on the online tool for the website. You won’t get the top dollar... but you should not get hosed either... the dealer needs to make some money... not gouge you. And finally, have some finance options and don’t let them ask you “what payment are you looking for?”

For anyone wondering about the 4Auto system... The Autotrac two-speed transfer case has been used in the light-duty pickups for years, but never in a 2500/3500 until now. The MP3025 has heavier-duty internals than the MP3024 used in the 1500s, so it can withstand the delivery of the LP5's full torque in every gear. This also marks an "industry first" in the heavy-duty pickup market for an electronic, automatic four-wheel-drive T-case. Like the Autotrac system used in the 1/2-tons, the MP3025 provides automatic torque transfer (0 to 50 percent) to the front differential when the "Auto" button on the left side of the dash is pushed. The Auto-mode can be engaged at any time and is said to be ideal for most driving conditions. The other modes are: 2WD, where 100 percent of the torque goes to the rear axle; 4-Hi splits torque 50/50 front/rear; and 4-Lo splits the torque 50/50 with a 2.68:1 gear reduction. Shifting in/out of 4-Hi or 4-Lo has to be done when the truck is stopped.

@trumpcountry60343 жыл бұрын
You should never use 4L to climb up anything steep with snow, mud, or loose gravel & sand/dirt etc. on the ground. You put it in “drive” & 4H when driving up a hill with slow, mud, or loose dirt/sand/Gravel, and you should try to takeoff slow so your tires will get traction easier. I’ve driven in the mountains my entire life logging, and you learn that Basic principle early on, but for some reason many people, including this guy, just don’t seem to know that. In 4L you’ll dig a hole by using 4L in the slow, mud, or loose gravel/dirt/sand etc. because you’ll have too much torque for those slick conditions.

If he was gentle on the gas the locker wouldn’t activate so he would have to give it more gas. Then it would work but after an unsettling slam. I think I would prefer a switch to actuate it myself rather than an automatic locker.

Great truck, great review, but it’s amazing how inflation has really screwed pricing on trucks. I know inflation makes this appear more expensive but I still can’t believe a basic truck is cresting 50k In 2005, a Silverado Z71 crew cab 1500 with a V8 was around 35k USD. That translates into about 47k in today’s money. So even though the math checks out, it’s still a bit overkill I think. This would be really appealing with a nice incentive/discount though, especially with that 6.2L V8.

@dieseldrax3 жыл бұрын
That's actually not how the current system works at all. There are no auto locking hubs, the transfer case has a clutch that modulates torque to the front axle. It's the same system that Jeep uses in the Grand Cherokee.

I was looking at 2021 models and couldn’t find any with adaptive cruise control
@Pabloperes6753 жыл бұрын
How did you get that color display in the dash.
@alecbartoy30163 жыл бұрын
That's a part of the safety confidence package. He did indicate in the video it comes standard but it is an optional package. It includes the better looking cluster you mentioned, hands-free steering wheel controls, and the forward facing camera for collision warning and adaptive cruise control.

He said.....all I need to do is keep my foot on the throttle yet everytime he starts spinning, HE LETS HIS FOOT OFF THE THROTTLE. Had he kept in it the first time he would have made it easily.

Great purchase. I have the 2020 LT Trail Boss with the 5.3 and I totally love it. I get compliments all of the time about it. I am a volunteer EMT in town and one of the cops is always telling me how much he loves my truck... lol. We were on an MVA and I'm doing patient care on the side of the road and he comes over and starts telling me how nice it looks... haha.

Love the Chevy. Question? When you went through the water ( river ) crossing. Water sprayed out the front engine hood. Why was that?
@Stoked_MTB_Family2 жыл бұрын
Great video! One thing, though. I didn't think adaptive cruise was available under the ltz/high country. I think you were messing with the forward collision alert, not adaptive cruise.

Nice real truck with a digestible price. I get to drive all the truck brands at work and though all the fancy stuff is neat it's also more to go wrong, and frankly unnecessary. I get the occasional opportunity to drive McLarens and other high end cars and it's a hoot, but at the end of the day I still love getting into my 2007 Silverado LT.

The screen in this truck is more than adequate. I sure love the color...similar to my Tundra. The 6.2 V8 is no slouch. Pretty good truck overall. The only thing I question is long term reliability and longevity.

No need to question this Chevy's long term reliability and longevity because there won't be any.

The 6.2 is a great motor like the 5.3 V8. I have a 2015, 4X4, 5.3, Double cab and it has been a great truck.

I bought a Ford. Too many issues. I traded it on a Dodge. good engine, tranny went out, front end issues. Traded it on a Chevy z71. Put 275k on it with zero issues. Traded it on a Duramax. Now at 159k, zero issues and I like it so much I don't want to get rid of it. That said, I am seeing these trail bosses everywhere and now I fkn want one. Since my Duramax is worth 45k, I wont have much of a payment. Hmmmm

3 peak mountain rated A/T tires would've helped out a lot since those stock ones aren't rated for really snowy conditions. I'm not a GM fan anymore but I wouldn't mind having a LT trim version of one of these.
