It's not a fair comparison between solid axle and independent front suspension, you know that that suspension on this truck is designed for highway driving. To have a fair comparison, you have to bring an offroader with an independent front suspension, such as a G wagon or a hummer or a raptor or maybe a Polaris even it's not from the same category. You are just a fan of a solid axle and you don't 🙈 see any long travel independent suspension. Please show a real example and don't bring a knife to a gun fight

Zr2 vs Gladiator would have been better to be honest, they both have front and rear lockers and are both mid size trucks. Also would have been a better comparison between ride quality and articulation because the Zr2 has those dssv shocks, that are really good off road and on road.

The Trail Boss is a mild off-road package that comes with a 2" level and 32" Duratracks (not 33" like on the Rebel). The suspension isn't off-road tuned, just raised for clearance. Also the locker is auto type, not a E-locker. Either way, that's a stock package, so it counts as stock.

The trail that they went on is a 6 out of 10 if you don’t take all the optional bypasses and drive all the way through it. The area where they are testing these videos uses the first five or so miles of trail which by most people’s definition are a two or three. How do I know? Because my Jeep barely fit through the areas that are actually difficult on that trail, let alone a trail boss. That all starts around mile 7 if I’m recalling correctly.

@ryancoates872
@ryancoates872 4 жыл бұрын
MrJamesLuz I disagree. The new cylinder deactivation is improved, and if you don’t trust it, buy a cheap tuner to get rid of it, g80 is very reliable in my experience if you give it time to lock, interiors are simple and will work if taken care of with leather treatment and cleaning protection. Will be just a good as any other plastic interior on a ford or ram.
@SSMJ
@SSMJ 4 жыл бұрын
Ryan Coates Do you know why all the serious off rotors I know with Chevy trucks switch out the G 80? Because it’s not good to have an axle that locks with wheel speed, especially if you’re actually doing something difficult. The old G80 “gov lock” is famous for one thing, breaking axle shafts.
@SSMJ
@SSMJ 4 жыл бұрын
Also just gonna throw this out there, if you actually check reliability reports, wranglers and gladiators (I’m assuming considering the power train is identical to the wrangler) are very reliable vehicles. My favorite part of the video was when someone said "Oh, I definitely lifted a wheel", and 4 wheels were making contact with the ground. Except for that one part on the video where you actually did lift a wheel. My point is, don't automatically freak out when you're not driving a Jeep product. You guys are turning into a meme at this point. Just sell the trail boss if you don't like it. Good Lord. I drive one all the time and drive on trails harder than that. It isn't a harrowing experience. Also, you're comparing to a highly modified Jeep, which I know was addressed at the start.. but even after that you guys just go all in and start crying when you drive the trailboss. Yet.. the trailboss was with the Jeep the entire time... So it couldn't have been that bad.

This channel used to be great now it's turned into a Jeep fanboy channel. Don't get me wrong, I love jeeps.. but their love for them might go beyond driving them. @@SilveradoNomads I think you mixing up there bias with brands with bias about offroad capability. These guys have been offroading for years so it stands to reason that the vehicle with solid axles and disconnecting sway bar is gonna be a favourite. As far as a truck goes for real life the Silverado beats it in every other way. But this was a apples to oranges test as they have always done. And the trailboss is stock as well. And as far as dodge, they publcly shat on the mild hybrid system, the 4wd system broke on a trail test and they have nice interiors. Seems pretty balanced to me.

@@zachariahatkinson9379 Indeed, you and I will have to agree to disagree on this.. based on the videos I've seen those moments are too far few, and mostly in the past. Why doesn’t TFL point this out during articulation test and other clearance tests? Chevrolet Silverado Trail Boss is the best choice for on and off roading hands down for this stock truck segment. Aggressive enough for some challenging off roading but yet family friendly for everyday use. Holds its own against aftermarket modified competitors.
