As a Chinese who speaks Mandarin, I definitely love to see Mcfarlane release new Mandarin Spawn especially with the delicate weapons full of details . 三尖两刃刀 and 青龙刀 are so dope.

Just picked this one up at Game Stop. Was on sale for $18 and change. I couldn't resist the value for the price. Not a big Spawn fan but love this figure. Loads of articulation and love the large axe/sword. Yes he needed a little paint, but I took care of that. Your reviews are second to none. Thanks for the vid.

I loved the original Mandarin Spawn from back in the days and had bought the 12 inch figure, the 3 inch as well as the other 6 inch variations they had of him. So when I heard mcfarlane were going to remake him with more articulation I was excited to get him which I did. I hate that it's sorely lacking on paints which is a shame. I've since a video of someone that repainted one of these new Mandarin spawn and it came out freaking awesome. I wish that Mcfarlane would have had added the shield the original had. If I ever learn how to disable these figures I might just get some paint add it to these figures because damn it they really need more paints and washes to highlight their sculpted details

I really can't stand (my OCD going out of whack) how they added a nasty black dry brush over only the chest piece, while everything else is super pristine looking. Like I would much rather they left the chest piece clean as well. I will buy one more of these and do a proper paint job. I'm sure it will look gorgeous then. I'm not a fan of the deluxe version of this figure either. While the paint job is more in line withe the classic figure, the head sculpt sucks imho and it lost that Mandarin vibe these have. Looks almost Trojan like or something else.

This is what we get for all the POA cut in, way less paint. There’s no way Todd can offer his 7in figures, that have the same POA as most 6in lines, usually have better sculpts as well, but keep them at the same $19.99 price point if he painted them up the wazoo like he did in the past. I for one would love to see the old school sculpt and paint with way less POA. Tooling (parts/joints) is what predominantly drives the cost of a figure, not the paint. I don’t need my Spawn figures doing the splits or cartwheels on my shelf so fuck all the joints and the crybabies online with their POA demands and bring back the ultra sculpt and paint that we know Todd can deliver.

My 2cents I am unfamiliar with Mandarin Spawn, I thought these figures just looked really cool. Now I can understand what people mean by it lacking paint apps. The original has a ludicrous amount of paint. What's the base plastic color? That said I'm unfamiliar, so all I really noticed was the lack of paint on the back. The front has more then enough coverage for me. The original might be TOO busy for me. Articulation Ball joints for the legs. I wish Mcfarlane would do that for all the figures. His special joint connector is poorly thought out. I get the idea but it's greatest weakness is that it's too weak for anyone not using these as statues. A ball joint has a failure where it just pops off. The Mcfarlane joint's failure is that it breaks and must be replaced. A ball joint also offers more range. For the people who put articulation low on the pole. You want statues. That is the product you want. These are not statues. They should be able to do cartwheels (or just crunch forward) because they are action figures and not statues.
