Great to hear you say that you did “service bulletins” , because I’ve been looking for a RV8 and I’ve been finding that some folks don’t see the need in doing them. So I walk away! Love the videos!

It such an easy process to check Van’s website and see if there are any new bulletins too. I get it that sometime that means more work but that’s half the fun of building!…at least for me!

Thanks for the video. glad our kids are over covid. Just got rid of it myself. Oct 2022. Any interest in an easy way to torque landing gear? all the best neal sw fla

Thank you, it doesn’t get any easier to torque those bolts than the setup I have. One person job and only have to remove the upper gear leg fairing to do it. www.rv8-hangar.com/gear-bolt-mod/

Hello RV Michael My 7A has has the same Hobbs time How worn were the brake pads? Do you do a fare amount of braking? Thanks for the post Happy Landings
@therv-8pilot2 жыл бұрын
I would say about half way through the pads. They really didn’t need to be replaced but since I had the wheels off I decided to replace them. I’m pretty light on the brakes most of the time. Cheers!

Nice video, how many hours do you have now on the hobbs (or how many landings)? I am asking myself what is a good amount of hours / amount of landings before I switch my tires..
@therv-8pilot2 жыл бұрын
I have 158.4 hours on it now. Not sure how many landings as I haven’t added those up. I’m probably going to switch to Condors or Goodyears in the spring/summer.

Hey Michael, do you do mostly tail high wheel landings, tail low wheel landings, or 3 point landings?
@therv-8pilot2 жыл бұрын
Tail high wheel landings every time! For some reason that’s the easiest way to land for me in this airplane, especially when flying solo.

@@therv-8pilot Thanks for the reply. My father and I met you at OshKosh last year. We were in the process of building our 2nd RV, but this was the first tail dragger 8. We have it flying now, and working out some bugs, but I have yet to fly in it yet until I get my tail wheel endorsement. My dad went to Texas and got 10 hours of training with Bruce Bohannon and he had him do 3 point landing exclusively, but everyone I talk to seems to think tail high wheel landings are easier/safer.

That’s awesome that you have it done and flying! I did 3 point landings in the Cub, Citabria and Cessna 140 but find it hard in the -8. Wheel landings in the -8 are a lot easier than the other three airplanes. I want to try this summer on our grass strip to get good a 3 points for short fields.
