2021 Cruise Part 8 Portland to Dartmouth (Nordhavn 47 'Wanderlust')

This is part 8 of our 2021 cruise from our home port of Portishead Marina to the south coast of England (and back).
Part 8 sees us leaving Portland Harbour heading west on our way back home. In this video we go to Dartmouth. All I can say is Dartmouth is so very pretty. In this video we see just how difficult it is to find a visitors spot in this popular destination.
Our boat is a 2005 Nordhavn 47 which we named 'Wanderlust'.

Nice video. I know a lot of people enjoy watching the Nordhavn boats going places. :) The thing about fishing boats turning off their AIS is a worldwide thing. They turn them off when they're working so no one else knows their fishing hotspots. Occasionally, you'll see them turn on briefly if there are leisure craft about as a courtesy, but they're mostly too busy fishing to keep an eye on the plotter.

Just wondering why you don't swing on the hook. It's not like you need hookups when you're cruising in Nordhavn style. Please keep the vids coming.

Only fishing vessels over 15m are required to transmit an AIS signal at all times. Many under 15m FV’s have the equipment fitted but generally don’t use it except in poor visibility etc, they don’t want to broadcast their best fishing grounds to others.

Much of the U.S. west coast is very similar with respect to having long wait lists for moorings. From 6 to as much as 16 years in some cases. Ugh. Thankfully, there are countless places to drop the hook with picturesque settings.

Here in the United States Norfolk Virginia yeah at waterside Marina you would spend a 3rd of that price for a morning and includes power water cable television in Wi-Fi

No, it is still steam powered. In fact the engines are older than the ship and date from 1904.

There’s no beach at Dartmouth. But despite that it’s probably more akin to the French Riviera than Miami.

That's big ugly black boat is the new princess X95 about £10 million to buy . I've seen it in Plymouth and I'm not a fan ether. I've done my 2 day powerboat course last year in Portishead last year and saw Wanderlust then . Just paid my years mooring for Dartmouth (Noss on Dart dry stack). As I've heard about the long waiting list for the area. I got in early as when it's finish there it will be next to no chance of getting in.

That's a big old princess 92 and and yeah it is a big ugly boat but inside you ought to see what you get inside it is really nice it has the interior volume of 116

Call the coast guard let them know they can come and seize those fishing boats because otherwise why would you turn off the AIS Unless they were involved in smuggling or something like that notify the British coast guards and showing rape written when do you no good and notify the US coast guard have an excellent day
