Nice video. The GLI was the quickest car without a doubt but i have to admit i was very surprised by the Si, it's a 1.5L turbo + it's manual and it did pretty good.

@@that-efh9630 Even if it says its off its never fully off unless you do a series of steps called the pedal dance. When complete, you'll see a steady TC off light like you normally would, and a second TC off light that will continuously blink. The Si is notably faster when this process is done (TC fully off) as power is never cut. I can tell you how to do it if you want.

The last race on his channel it was never fully off and that’s why there’s a big difference in the gap on the n line and I always was shifting like I don’t care lol

the new Mk7 GLi is sick! .. especially in the corners, that front diff is smooth! coupled with the 260 torque = zero understeer, it tracks and pulls through with very minimal body roll, feels like an Audi .. with traction control off or partial sport setting you can get the backend to come around out of s-bends corners. The Gli is very nice and at $5k off from a Gti it's a no brainer! Golf R brakes and DCC adaptive suspension, diff and engine/turbo from the Gti.. throw some nice tires on it and it's on!

@@layne4376 In every possible way. Specially when tuned. Idk who gave u the idea that the handling is NOTICEABLY different? We have over 10 GLIS and GTIS in our crew and the first thing EVERYONE noticed was how SIMILAR the handling was and how the GLI actually preforms better in a straight-line than a GTI does. Not to mention most GLIs including the one in this video are ( autobhan) edition which weighs 200 pounds more than the GLI S or 35th edition which we have which makes night and day difference at these power levels.

I know you have stated the N line doesn't like launches, however it still looks to me like on every race the car does not start to move for almost a second before the others. If it does have such a delay could you not hit the gas a split second before the race starts to make up for it's so called delay?

I know! its crazy seeing how the n-line gets "moving" once the other two car are already a little over a car length away... Still fares pretty well considering its delayed start,, but its a crazy slow launch, a IVT Elantra would probably beat it off the line lol....

@@M4B21S88 I don't understand why? I have a few friends that have N line's and one who has a new Elantra N line! I know it doesn't stand a chance against a GLI especially when that one looked to have some modest mods on it but none of my friends have such a delay. Infact the Elantra Sport one friend has is quite fast in stock form, same DCT certainly a bit smaller but the point is they all get off the line much better than any CIVIC SI manual.

@@nstylemotorsportsracing1471 I believe you. I have the 1.6t w/ dct in my ‘21 Forte GT2. I have some runs in my channel timed with dragy...it takes off without a problem/no delays at all, quick enough to give me 0-60s in the range of 6.3-6.5 sec... So i dont know why the n-line on this video struggles so much off the line, heck even on the 2 rolls they did it should have done better - it only tied once.

exhaust and wheels won't do any favor to this car unless it has a DP and tune. Further more, this is the HEAVIEST GLI, the autobahn version. It weighs as much as the accord 2.0 which is a Midsized sedan. So both the Civic SI and Hyundai were at a big advantage. If the GLI 35TH anniversary edition or S was used, it would have been even a worse KILL. The SI weighs 2899, This specific GLI in this video weighs 3300 which is heavier than the accord sport. If the GLI S or 35th was used, it would be even worse for both cars.

Just have to turn traction control off on the N-Line... I have one and it cut off all the power when the tire spin a tiny bit. You can also ear the civic SI tire spin a lot so he turned it off for sure.

The Maxima is the faster than all other V6 sedans like the Dodge Charger SXT, Kia Cadenza and Toyota Avalon but I think it's the least reliable my cousin bought a 2017 Maxima Platinum and after just 2 months all the lights in the car stopped working the interior lights, headlights and tail lights everything he recalled it and bought a 2018 Cadenza instead

Probably should have put summer tires on the N-line. And the civic. I have the N-line and when it slips, it stops on its own. Switched to summer tires temporarily and it helped massively. Other than that I enjoyed the video. And the OEM hankook tires are meh. I even get wheel spin coming out my driveway 🙄.

Problem with the Sonata N-Line and K5 GT is that they're not AWD so it depends on the driver if the driver is good then they can launch it easily but I still think Hyundai and Kia will release an AWD version of these cars in the future maybe in 2022 or 2023

@@tutigseg I’m currently deciding between all 3 of these, Sonata N line, K5 GT, Vw Jetta Gli Autobahn, and from what it sounds like the Gli wins in a lot more categories, especially with 2021 models having the Adaptive suspension. What’s your thoughts (I plan on taking these cars to snowy and Sunny climates).

@@exy8423 well if it snows where you live then I guess you should get something that has AWD, but amongst those 3 if you live in North America then I'd highly recommend the Sonata N-Line because of the interior, and for the GLI I ain't a huge fan of Volkswagen because I hear it's not that reliable and speed is not everything in my opinion don't let the quicker one fool you into buying it but anyways you can't go wrong with both the K5 or the Sonata

I got the Elantra N Line Auto. I wish I would have pushed it during the test drive. My best friend named my car Mr. Strugglez. Don’t get me wrong, I love the style and features of the car. The car does drive nice. If you are out with grandma on a nice sunny Sunday. Just tonight a Kia K5 GT line AWD left me in the dust. I thought I would have more of an advantage because my car is lighter. The lag from stop to start is a let down. Maybe once my lease is up I will try the Elantra N 🤷🏻♀️

@@popsandbangs8858 I have a manual trans in mine so I don't have this issue, but some of the guys with the auto were saying if you have the factory transmission tune the car shifts at like 5000RPM or something even lower, but if you use the paddles you can take it to redline - so it would seem to me the only reason it won was because the car was severely short shifting before.

The shifting wasn’t the huge problem, it was the terrible seats. Tell me the N line seats are comfortable. This Elantra is nice!

Elantra N-Line is nearly a full second slower to 60 than the base 1.4 Jetta. It's not the driver, nor the engine, but the transmission that's at fault. Hyundai just doesn't get the power to the wheels as well from a start, although I'd have expected rolling start to have a little better result for the Elantra...

So I sell Elantra’s and Own an N-Line MANUAL stick shift. He’s using an automatic with the “sport mode”. The automatic gets off the line MUCH slower and shifts a little too early. Unfair comparison for the N-Line. If your going to get one make sure it’s a manual transmission

North Americans' obsession with straight line acceleration as a singular measure of performance is both narrow and misleading. But as as GTI owner I have to admit enjoying the sedan version of the GTI consistently bury both the SI and the N-Line Elantra. Personally, I'll stick with the GTI for its unrivalled versatility and rear seat HVAC (for my big dog) but as an affordable compact sedan the GLI has much to recommend it. Unfortunately, my local (Seattle area) dealer told me last week that VW has informed him that there will be no more Jettas (including GLIs) coming for the remainder of the 2021 calendar year as a result of the computer chip shortage and VW's decision to divert production to the Tiguan and the forthcoming Taos SUVs.

Civic and VW are significantly more expensive and get fewer mpg. N-line doesn't launch well, but nobody drives like that day to day. You get a lot for your money with the N-line. Best of both worlds. 40 mpg if you drive mellow on the freeway.

This is the Canadian version. So no such thing as Autobhan or whatever. Canada only has 1 version which comes std with DCC. It’s basically the american autobhan with dcc. The Canadian 35th only has cosmetic changes.

I think all these cars have more power than this but, CvT iVt transmission are not full capable to do it, you can see lag on the Civic. GLi has better perfomance

Civic Si have a 6 speed manual transmission. Not a CVT.

I have a stock 2017 honda civic di sedan let me tell you when you actually shift fast its easy to gap the n line. Ive done it by busses. You just csnt be a pussy with the shifts and do the cheat code to turn off traction control or it cuts power for a sec on second gear. And you better shift fast for second idk why but thats when it pulls the most Gs. Snd you have to shift fast to keep your momentum with this car. Like if you dont full send it font race it you will lose
