2021 Elantra SE. This or the Base Honda Civic / Toyota Corolla?

What do you think of the Hyundai's parametric triangular spectacular design language? Baby Lambo? Would you choose this over the Honda Civic or the Toyota Corolla? Where does the Mazda 3 fit in? Let us know your thoughts below!

I think the Elantra's design is overstyled and a tad juvenile. My first choice is the Toyota Corolla both in terms of looks and driving fun. 169 horsepower dual injected naturally aspirated engine paired with a CVT with a first gear is best for driving engagement, reliability, and fuel economy.

One of the reasons I really enjoyed this review is because it's an affordable attainable vehicle. I hope you review more affordable vehicles like the 2021 Chevrolet Spark, 2021 Mitsubishi Mirage (just had a refresh for 2021 model year), 2021 Nissan Versa etc.

Hi Andy. The Elantra seems to be fairly engaging for an econobox. I was very impressed by the Tucson I rented a couple years ago. On the other hand, the Camry rental I’m driving now is lifeless.

I actually think the compact segment is pretty hip, and maybe the midsize vehicles like the Camry and the Sonata has to be "more" comfortable and perhaps a bit more conservative in the design approach too... Not that the new Sonata/Camry/Accord is conservative by any means haha.

Great review. I can't understand why the base model SE comes with Idle Stop when all the other competitors don't come with this feature.

I think even some Elantras skip it, but maybe they rly needed the MPG figures on the SE haha.

What do you mean by “stiff”? I’ve watched a lot of reviews and even just bought the SEL trim recently but never heard anyone say “stiff” ..

Pretty sure you can size up as they have other variants of trims. Not sure on this specific trim though.

I rather get a Toyota Corolla or Honda for a better vehicle because you getting better quality. I had a Hyundai Elantra before and all I had was engine problems

@@REVlogue Hyundai/Kia boast about their 10 year warranties but they're notorious for denying warranty claims as well. They will say you didn't do the required maintenance or they can't recreate the problem or driver abuse.

Everyday Driver compared the 2021 Corolla XSE sedan to a 2021 BMW 228 and 2021 VW Jetta R-Line and the Corolla won! They said Corolla was the most fun to drive! The Corolla sedan with the more powerful engine and upgraded CVT with a first gear is a huge improvement over the base Corolla. They posted a youtube video so please watch it!

Hello, I am personally friends with Todd and Paul and I enjoy their content :) in fact, the brz vs wrx video, the blue brz is my car. Having said that, the Corolla I drove is a base model, not the XSE. A more fair comparison would be the Elantra N Line. I'm sure both are fun :) thanks for checking out the channel!

@@REVlogue You have a great channel and I enjoy watching your videos. I would never consider the Elantra N Line because DCT shifts harshly in low speeds and is less reliable. Hyundai direct injected turbo engine is also quite unreliable.

@@REVlogue You have a point there. However, you can enjoy the upgraded engine and upgraded transmission even in the mid-trim Corolla SE. With the 2021 Elantra, you have the same 147 hp engine and CVT for almost all the trims, including the expensive Elantra Limited.
