Hi everyone!
Today's video is a continuation of my UCAT crash course, where I'll be going through the ways I approached the Decision Making Subtest in the UCAT, which I scored a perfect 900 in.

For the strongest argument questions, if you have two statements that closely coincide with each other in terms of addressing the key issue in the question, how do you differentiate between the two? Do you look at opinion vs fact?
@EmilEddy
@EmilEddy 2 жыл бұрын
Usually you look for things like, reasoning behind why the argument might work or opinion vs fact yeah. Often it just boils down to how relevent the argument actually is

What is the best way and approach to tackle and practice mathematical type questions? especially ones where you need to build an equation?
@EmilEddy
@EmilEddy 2 жыл бұрын
I'd highly recommend that you write down as much of the equation as you can. Don't be afraid to use variables like x and y to come to the answer you need

Do you have to get a full 29 to get 900 in DM? Also, how do partial marks work in syllogisms (like if you get 1/5 and 4/5 do they both equate to a partial mark?). Cheers!
@EmilEddy
@EmilEddy 2 жыл бұрын
It's very likely you need 28 or 29 for 900 in DM. With syllogisms, if you get 5/5, full marks, if you get 4/5 partial marks, if you get 3/5, no marks
@luv1508
@luv1508 2 жыл бұрын
When approaching DM, do you just to it straight off the bat from question 1-29 or do you look for certain ones and do them first? e.g. Venn diagrams, Argument questions, Evaluating conclusions, Graph related questions then Syllogisms
@EmilEddy
@EmilEddy 2 жыл бұрын
I'm pretty confident in DM so I just go straight through in order, however if there are hard syllogisms, logic puzzles or data questions I will skip those pretty much straight away

for the last question, why did you write 2x for females?
@EmilEddy
@EmilEddy 2 жыл бұрын
It was that the number of female was x, and then the number of males + females was x + x + 3 = 2x + 3 = 27. Then I solved that to get the number of females, x as 12

At 10:51 why can't there be 3 red cars? I got the question right but it was intuition not logic and i have no idea why there cannot be 3 red cars. Also at 17:52 where did you get 2x+3 from? i suck at these types of questions.
@EmilEddy
@EmilEddy 2 жыл бұрын
There can't be 3 red cars because of the 5 cars, they tell you that 2 sedans are green. Of the remaining 3 cars, they tell you that 1 is blue. Therefore Sam and Rosie must have red hatchbacks.
@EmilEddy
@EmilEddy 2 жыл бұрын
I've already answered the one about 17:52 in the comments, but - it was that the number of females was x, and then the number of males + females was x + x + 3 = 2x + 3 = 27. Then I solved that to get the number of females, x as 12
