Thank you so much for the kind words and the sub! Admittedly, I'm primarily a writer by trade and the Drive Section website (and my other freelance writing work) is my main focus, and so producing video content has been secondary to that at times given for the most part it's practically all filmed and edited by myself as well. I'm certainly hoping to see it grow and expand as I continue to refine my video style going forward though, so I appreciate your support!

A new king of reliability for utes until the new Hilux comes out..or perhaps the new BT50.
@DriveSection4 жыл бұрын
Hi Douglas - the new BT-50 is the same underneath as this new D-Max, so it'll be right there alongside it as far as reliability is concerned. Toyota claims to have gotten on top of its DPF issues with the facelifted HiLux model, but time will be the judge of that. I'll be sure to try and put out some reviews when I'm able to get my hands on both the BT-50 and HiLux though.

Have the new isuzu 2020 engines become unobtrusive or remained just as annoying as their predecessors and please answer
@DriveSection4 жыл бұрын
Hi Sahbani - as I mentioned in the video at around 4:38 the new engine is considerably quieter, remaining very hushed below around 3000rpm. It does get a bit noiser in the higher rpm range, but it is still nowhere near as coarse or loud a sound as before.

Dear all motoring journalists A Diesel engine is ALWAYS going to be noisy. We all know that! How about you stop talking about the clatter and concentrate on other things because quite frankly every pickup truck/ute/buckie buyer expects diesel rumble 🤷🏽♂️ Sit in a Prius if you are going to wine about diesel noise. Thank you
@DriveSection4 жыл бұрын
Hi Tashinga - for the sake of objectivity, it's just something that simply needs to be pointed out, especially as trying to cut down on clatter is something Isuzu made a big point of trying to do here. You will note, though, that I did say I liked how muscular the engine in this does sound when you get on it, and that most of the time it's remarkably quiet for what it is.
@53glowe4 жыл бұрын
But man...there are different levels of noise. Some diesels make a hell of racket, others are more subdued, like the Triton, Mercedes and surprisingly the Musso. I think it's objective of the presenter to differentiate them 😐

Isuzu spent $100 million dollars in advertising - very cleverly too- using cronies. Isuzu hopes to claw back from Ford and Toyota using "reliability" over popularity. Even new Ranger which is a real true model when released never got this much publicity- a testament to the millions spent wisely through the grass roots campaign. There is no doubt a D Max is a very popular ute so time will tell if the $100 million will fetch treble returns or not.One thing that baffles me - in 2021 despite all the safety gear still drum brakes in the rear?

I still think the ranger drives better but if you want long term reliability and an almost bulletproof engine id go for the dmax.
@Naessey4 жыл бұрын
Ayrton Rama Me too!. I loved driving the Ranger but tow a lot and want more flexibility. Also, I’m not convinced about putting so much pressure through a 2.0l bi Turbo. I’ve driven one (with boat) and it shifted through the gears - a lot. Can’t wait to test drive.
@ayrtonrama11914 жыл бұрын
@@Naessey agree. Still, theres no replacement for displacement. Either way, both are great cars, it just depends on the persons preference and need.

Should’ve done the review on a 2wd model, if your gonna test drive a 4x4 at least show its off road capabilities
@DriveSection4 жыл бұрын
Hi Caleb - firstly, all vehicles available to journalists at launch were 4x4 models so had no choice in that. Secondly, if you're after an overview of its off-road capabilities, that's discussed from 11:38 onwards. Hope that helps.

Does the automatic transmission have better programming than last years.. The 6 speed often can't make up it's mind.
@DriveSection4 жыл бұрын
Hi Jason - it definitely feels to be more decisive from what I found, and I think the stronger and more usable torque curve of the new engine is a big part of why as it means it doesn't need to downshift so much when you give it a boot-full to get it into the powerband. Combine that with the slightly tweaked shift logic and it definitely feels better than before.
@Madzci4 жыл бұрын
I wish they would review the other line not the best of the best. Who can afford that. A 4x2 manual or automatic would be nice to know how it works
@DriveSection4 жыл бұрын
Hi Mohan - basically all of the cars lent out to journalists for this Australian launch were higher spec'd LS-U (like you see here) and X-Terrain models so it's just the luck of the draw. However, you will be glad to hear I have already expressed my interest in sampling something from the lower end of the range and something with a manual if/when the opportunity presents itself.
