Hi Charlie, you can call it Carnival now. Just learned from MotorTrend that Sedona's name is being dumped and it will be called Carnival. Also official EPA MPG rating for the new 3.5L V6 is 19/26/22 combined. Better than old 3.3L's 18/24/21.

Interesting review, Charlie. In fact, it's the only direct comparison of a minivan vs an SUV I've seen anywhere. Here in the US the minivan market, such as it is, is dominated by the Chrysler Pacifica, Toyota Sienna, and Honda Odyssey with the Sedona trailing far behind as an "also ran." KIA hopes the new Sedona can improve that picture with styling that's more "SUV-like." Frankly, I'm skeptical especially since both the Pacifica and Sienna each offer both AWD and hybrid versions while KIA sticks with FWD and a non-hybrid versions. (A diesel version isn't offered by any automaker in the US.) In some ways the minivan marketplace in the US is a rather sad story. In 2020 the entire segment accounted for about 272,000 vehicles sold, the worst year since 1986. They amounted to 1.9% of all vehicles sold in the US, a minuscule market share that's even less than pure EVs. The reason? Rather surprisingly it appears to be the result of women opting for crossovers over minivans. Apparently many women (including my wife) resent the image of minivans as being "soccer moms'" vehicles of choice and find the apparent "ruggedness" and elevated seating of SUVs to have a major appeal. The result is that market research indicates that males appreciate the interior space of minivans while females have largely deserted the vehicles.

Although the two cars are of the high-end category, each one has a distinct performance, and an appearance that confirms its presence. For me, I prefer Kia because it's closer to my tendency, and I think it will sweep the automotive world because of the Kia crew's ability to create something for the future. For me, it would come down to the price since they're both very well built. Here in the U.S., we do not get the diesel, so the V6 applies to both and the Sedona is the best looking minivan in my opinion. But I fell in love with the Palisade the moment I first saw it. Unlike the previous model Sedona, you can remove the 2nd row seating to allow things like 4x8 sheets of plywood, or you can fold the front passenger seat back and fit 2 10-foot kayaks on the right side and a third one beside them. In addition, there is a larger model that seats. Active Noise Cancellation will also be available in the Kia.

We had a VW Atlas, but is had insufficient AC. We looked at the Palaside and Telluride both really nice. We like the Telluride more but the Dealers are charging over sticker price.. Since the family always asks us for rides because we have a big car, I convinced my Wife we should get the Sportage SX. Big enough for us and it was a good deal.

To us your Palisade is more to wards we would go. From the distance the Sedona reminds us on the movie JAWS, it has a such aggressive shark bite much challenging grin kind of a grill. More pick up and higher off the ground is more Australia friendly and the fog lights can be added later, but propper LED fog lights not this candle flicker excuse like small ones on the Sedona. Charlie, you got hands down the better car in this case!

The Palisade is Nice but i got to give it to the Sedona for exterior design.. at the back i think the Palisade is abit more impressive.. The Odyssey first came out it had 4 doors for a mini van and the Mitsubishi RVR for a CUV had sliding doors.. i loved the gen 2 especially the rally art version with the 4G63T engine it was wild 😁 so i think it's more of the overall structure and proportions that makes a mini van, MPV vs SUV

In my opinion, It 's a difficult choice to compare Kia Sedona 2021 and Huyndai Palisade 2020 because they are used for diferent purposes( a MPV and an CUV). In my case, Kia Sedona is better because I owned an CUV, Kia Sorento 2021😁
