Thank you man, always change the oil in my trucks but was looking all over for the filter on my wife’s telluride. Appreciate the video man!
@StillinSaigon3 жыл бұрын
When you pour the oil from the gallon bottle, hold the bottle sideways or “flat” when you pour. This will keep it from spilling. Especially helpful for those pouring antifreeze out of the jug without spilling it all over your radiator and driveway.

Is this car eating oil? 6.5qt went in and only about 4qt went out! Yes, I made sure car was warm before draining, yes I opened the drain under the hood, car was sloping a bit back at around 15-20 degrees (where the plug is), yes waited 10min or so for all oil to drain and even poured half a cup of fresh oil to "flush" a bit. Is this normal? Thanks. P.S. Regularly check oil levels and did have to add oil in between changes, but not a lot. Never saw an oil spill under the car.

Excellent video dad with the kids. Thanks for showing. It's better piece of mind knowing you did a well job yourself instead. As for the oil. We use recommended Total Quartz 5w-30 ACE A5 / B5. API. It's best for extreme heat and cold. In the Maintenance. book. Cheers 👍

Correct. That spec is very limited in America. Castrol does have one, but so does Pennzoil Ultra Platinum. Which is my preferred oil in that spec.

Nice guidance, we in Ukraine do the same each 8k kilometers due to the worst eco, dust, and worst quality of fuel. I like Telluride going to buy in future from insurance company. Small advice from me, buy some mic for your videos. Video quality is ok, idea also 👍, so good luck with your next videos.

How do you prove your oil changes for warranty purposes?
@GetawayWheels3 жыл бұрын
You are under *no obligation* legally to get a car under warranty serviced at a dealer shop. Lots of people believe this and lots of dealers imply it when making a sale. But lesson learned get receipts and save them scrupulously, and if you DIY keep your receipts for the oil and filter etc. A quick photo of the fresh filter under the hood and one of the odometer reading (and I also photograph the receipt) at each change is also good insurance. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, says no. In fact, it's illegal for a dealer to deny your warranty coverage simply because you had routine maintenance or repairs performed by someone else. Routine maintenance often includes oil changes, tire rotations, belt replacement, fluid checks and flushes, new brake pads, and inspections. Maintenance schedules vary by vehicle make, model and year; the best source of information about routine scheduled maintenance is your owner's manual.

Only thing i would add is use the genuine filter at least you're sure the Porosity and micron rating of the the filter media suits this engine perfectly by manufacturer specifications.. plus they are relatively cheap and u may even get a deal from the dealership buying 3 at a time.. it's great you're doing the services at 4000 miles..

One bit of advice...get better ramps...I got longer, lower angle height....6 feet long and 10 inch left under the vehicle for my 89 Mustang.. I drove over and off those plastic two piece with a rear drive car. Going up with a front drive cars works. but going up with rear drive cars those short high angle rams slide if you hit the brake before you hit the stopper.....My last oil change at the dealer was $32 dollars with a free car was on our 2018 Kia Sorento...and no mess on the driveway....

So I used to change my own oil one of my older cars (e.g., 2002 Toyota Celica). However my 2010 Toyota Corolla S, 2016 Subaru Outback Limited, and soon to be 2021/2022 Kia Telluride have or will be going into my local dealership for the routine maintenance on the vehicle manufacturers specifications. My Corolla and Outback have followed the maintenance schedule since ownership (both bought new). I personally think it is better to have the dealer do it for a few different reasons. The first being, my time. I can work on my laptop while the dealer is doing the maintenance - killing two birds with one stone so to speak. When I was working and doing college, I’d be able to do school or work tasks rather than use an hour or two of my time servicing my vehicles. Second, the liability aspect. If the dealer screws something up - it will be a heated argument for them to fix it. Typically, they will without an argument if it is their fault. Down side to me doing it, I screw up then its my dime no matter what. Third point, brings me to the fact that you almost fully forgot a few screws. This is the exact point of screwing up and I’d be able to argue the dealer about that in the event of service was screwed up to get it fixed. On the other hand, if I forgot and later figured it out then it could be problematic on my dime. Fourth point, on a new vehicle with warranties and doing maintenance by yourself, this could cause some problems in the event of something malfunctioning and being covered under warranty. If the vehicle is routinely on vehicle specified services, it is less likely that the dealer/manufacture will push back on anything faulty (in my opinion). Furthermore, with service records documented by the dealer in my opinion provides a better resale value if one were to trade or sell their vehicle. Even if the intent is to keep the vehicle 15+ years or run it into the ground - it is a piece of mind for me knowing that I did everything I could possible do based on the vehicle manufacturers recommendations to keep the vehicle in its best operational state years to come. Thought I’d provide insight as to why someone shouldn’t do maintenance themselves, mostly with a newer car that is under warranty. None the less, glad you’re able to do it comfortably with your kiddos always a good time spending time and showing the kids the ropes on some labor.
@GetawayWheels3 жыл бұрын
Multitasking is always a great, I do a lot of that. 😂. The screws I was just trying to be funny, but you’re right, I’ve messed up a couple of times, thank God nothing major. I personally know two guys that work for dealerships, and they don’t even take their vehicles to the dealership. 75% of the time, they don’t do the job properly, and the owner (paying customer) doesn’t even realize it, until it’s too late. There’s pro’s and con’s either way, whether you do it yourself or have the dealership do it.
