I have a husqvarna 85 and me and my dad do enduros and crosscountry and the biggest thing that helped me in the trails was a reckluse. My dad first got a reckluse on his KTM 350 and he loved said it made the bike way easier to ride in the trails. I tried it on my 85 and it made it way more fun to ride and you were also able to bog kinda like my husky te150i. Another thing thta helps is a stering stabilizer which helps with arm pump on the longer rides or races.

The Lectron carburetor was the best money I spent on my son’s ‘18 KTM 85. Coupled with FMF exhaust and a Kreft power dial, the bike is amazing. The Lectron is great for that bike. I recommend ordering the carburetor direct from the Lectron website because it gives you the ability to supply them with custom information such as riding elevation, location, and type of riding. It came out of the box dialed in; I didn’t have to change a thing. It also ended the bike’s spooging everywhere despite jetting changes.

Good to see you slowly moving them up. I went from a 50 at 11 to a 85 at 12 to a 450 and 125 at 13. I’m good now but it was a lot more wrecking and struggling to get good on them than it should have if I went slowly.

We’ve just finished building my sons 2021 for hare scrambles/Sprint Enduro.We started with the Ktech spring conversation and 1” lowering from Solid Performance.A Slavens racing mini mule lectron.A scalvini stamped pipe coupled to a pro circuit type 296 spark arrestor silencer.A hard parts map swit.A IMS tank,Acerbis skidplate,disc guard and chain guide.Last But certainly not least a MAKO360🦈@XCGEAR17.So far we are very pleased as the bike for us runs like a mini 300.Awesome in the technical stuff and the open terrain.

You made a comment about bringing the boys out here to the desert. Your idea and my idea of the desert must be quite a bit different. When I see pinion pines and juniper approaching 20 feet in height I know longer consider that desert. Especially if an area is receiving more than 8 or 9 inches of annual precipitation.

Lucky man getting to ride with your sons. Bet he loves the 85sx
@mikelyons4694 жыл бұрын
Once he gets used to that 85 is when he's going to start to scare the crap out of you. When my son moved into the 85 class years ago it wasn't long before he was trying to spank out the 90-foot triple on one of our tracks. First time he tried he overshot it by 10 ft and flat landed it but never crashed. After that he was jumping everything in sight every track we went to scare the beans out of you. Good luck👍

I bought my son a 2020 KTM 85 SX, and the jetting was super rich stock. The one thing I really dislike about the 85, is the turning radius. Those radiators are too far forward, preventing a tight turning radius. My 2020 TE 300i, has a tighter turning radius.
@scubaeb4 жыл бұрын
That looks like so much fun! Lucky kids. Be interesting when they get on 125's/250's. See if you still appreciate the roost! Keep it up!

My 11 year old son Rayce just got a 2021 85SX with the 19/16 wheels and he loves it. I was apprehensive at first but after seeing him put about 10 hours on it I’m so happy I moved him into that bike. Congrats Kyle! Oh and you’ll want to upgrade the tank to the 2.2 from IMS. We learned very quickly that the factory 1.4 gallon tank will barely do one full loop where we ride.

It's funny how most of us start out on an MX bike for trail riding and figure out how terrible they are. Then you watch the kids do the same thing, but instead of them complaining, they just keep getting better and better. Unfortunately there really isn't a great performance enduro bike for kids. They all seem to be full race or full SLOW.
