I've had mine now for about 2 months (1600 miles). It's fantastic. I live in central California and do a good deal of non-pavement riding. It's a blast on either surface. It's my first KTM. I am getting used to annoying things like it not starting in the morning on the first... or second try. But, once it gets going I forget all about that...

The not starting on first (or second) attempt is because of bikes ECU - it doesn´t know the conditions and before it is able to set parameters of the fuel injection, air and other stuff, it uses last known parameters (usually heated engine after your last ride). It takes one or two failed starts to get the data for correct mixture to start the bike. At least thats what I have been told in the dealership after I asked about this.
@jeremyshirley58593 жыл бұрын
@Cloud Jumper since I left this comment I had a chance to talk to my friend who is the service manager at a dealer in FL. He said it is a common issue that is usually solved by an ecu update/ adaptive learning reset. I then talked to a dealer near me who said “ yeah, we are familiar with the issue. We actually have another one of these bikes in for the same thing right now.” So I made an appointment with them to have my bike looked at. I think the idea that the ecu doesn’t have a dedicated cold start procedure and that it is going off of last known mixture is probably not true (I am not an ecu expert). I think if this were the case we would be seeing a lot more FI bikes with these symptoms. From what I gather, KTM was trying to reach a very tough emissions goal and went a little overboard. Apparently there is a fix now. We shall see…

I bought the 890 adventure a few weeks ago. First bike in 17 years! Had Ducati’s before. I absolutely love it!!!! It cost me £14500 after all the upgrades though 🙀 I must admit I had to change the front fender to the same one as the R as i didn’t like the one it came with. It looks more off road style now. Plus I’m just about to get TCK80’s front and rear so I can do some off roading 😁. Highly recommend this bike!!!!!

I bought new 2020 790 ADVENTURE S in December of 2020 for $9,999.00 net total (price even included tax and tags). I love the bike. Great handling more than ample power and IMO, a beautiful bike as well. It, IMO, is a cross between a ADV and Sport Touring machine. My favorite motorcycle so far. *I also own a 2016 Motto Guzzi V7 II Stone and a 2015 Harely Super Low 1200T.

Bought a 2022 890 Adventure s at the end of December 2022 and I absolutely love the bike. It has a few niggles with the TFT dash, it gets condensation... which clears up and the dash went completely blank/black on a ride but when I stopped for fuel and turned the bike off and on (as a person should for fuel) the dash came back on. Plus the bike kept functioning, even when the dash was wonky. I just didn't know how fast I was going so I went with traffic. it hasn't done it again in 3,500 miles since that ride. If a rider is shorter than 5'9" then give the S models a shot. They are highly capable and you'll attempt tougher terrain because you can touch the deck with both feet. Or get an R and don't attempt the trails because the bike is too tall and expensive. If a rider is short and looking at the 390 Adventure, the 890 is far more capable and I think the seat height is lower. The 890 S is heavier and more costly though. Traffic and long distance are not a concern with the 890 though. The 2023's have an updated dash, fairing, and adjustable front forks. I'm good with my 2022 but the new models are even better. Good job KTM.

For bikes in its class it’s one of the lightest, and that fuel tank bulge down low makes picking it up not bad. I’ve picked up my 790 lots, even loaded for a trip (lots of sketchy off-road in my itineraries), and I haven’t had any issues.
