@@cun7us I think the whole thing is misunderstood.. In real life, when you're outside and the sun is up, you're witnessing far more than 2000 nits peak brightness. When the Samsung Q90T (as I own) can produce +2000 nits according to Rtings measurements. That means that the dynamic range is extremely broad. It may be true that even with local dimming it still can't produce 0 nits (true black), but it comes very close. So let's say it bottoms out at 5 nits, that still gives us a range of 1995 nits.. If you've ever seen a QLED showcasing some quality HDR mastered to 4k nits peakbrightness, you would have watched some actual High dynamic range (HDR) You ignorant OLED snobs cares so deeply about having 0 nits, just turn off your TV and you will get a good blacks.. 700 nits OLED isn't HDR. It's not highly dynamic, QLED is. I will say this though, you need high quality high nits masteted HDR, before QLED comes to it's right and defeats oled. Oled is a superior tech, when watching SDR (330 nits mastering) there is no contest, oled wins. When playing a PS5 or Xbox where you can simply adjust HDR peak brightness , the Samsung QLED wins again. Here LG CX owners will have to set peak brightness at 700 nits, and are still plagued with ABL, lowering the brightness far below 700 nits. While QLED Q90T and QN90A owners set that shit between 1400 and 2000 according to preference. In other words, more than twice as much dynamic range on the QLED, and NO ABL. (QLED ABL is nothing compared to OLED ABL) Most HDR content is mastered with very few highlights above 1000 nits, because they know many people will be watching on OLED.
@cun7us3 жыл бұрын
@@Lasse3 "700 nits isn't HDR" - that's when I stopped reading your nonsense as you don't know what you're talking about. You can call us snobs if you want to, but there's a reason most industry professionals prefer OLED over LCD; it's the superior technology. Whilst it might not reach the same brightness as QLED, brightness isn't everything. QLED simply won't outperform OLED on any dark scene whatsoever. Also, who wants to view 2000 nits brightness late at night when you're in a dark room? That's right, no one. QLED also suffers from blooming which just looks terrible especially when you're used to viewing OLED.
@Lasse33 жыл бұрын
@@cun7us when you said that professionals uses OLED, that's when I stopped reading your comment. OLED can't recreate any form of scene including broad daylight. A QLED is closer to being able producing a black square 100% window. Than a OLED is at creating a White square 100% window (it only does Grey) The larger compromise is OLED. HDR stands for high dynamic range, QLED has more than twice the dynamics. And remember, OLED can't even boast about it's miniscule 700 nits, if more than 30% of the screen is demanding 700 nits, the aggressive ABL kicks in dimming the entire picture down to 200 nits. This screen tech has nothing to do with HDR, yes the tech is superior, but not when it comes to showcasing HDR. You have obviously never seen a flagship QLED, I only watch my Q90T at night, with black curtains. You seem to be under the false impression that QLED is to 'bright' for a dark room, it's another misunderstanding. High nits on a well calibrated TV following the EOTF, Gamma log 2,2, with 65000K White balance and color-space correction, doesn't look 'bright' it just looks right. You have to remember we are not over brightening the image, we just have higher dynamics. The OLED is the one deviating from the EOTF, already falling off the target much sooner, the QLED follows EOTF target for much longer. (Being ever so slightly imprecise in a narrow window below 50 nits) I don't want to be bored to death by LG's WRGB panels, yep they are not true RGB pixel structures, yep they have to include an extra White pixel to increase brightness, this washes out colors. We want more volume on the red color? the White pixels helps here, this is wrong. WRGB is a false solution to a problem. I just hope when Samsung release their QD-OLED, they have conquered, the problem. If they also copies LG, and use WRGB pixel structure, I'm not interested. QLED is true RGB panels.

I bought the 65" LG C1 Oled and while most of these comparison videos talk about others being "brighter" I find myself constantly trying to lower the brightness on my oled. I have it mounted above my fireplace in the living room with big windows to the left and to the right of it. I don't know how anyone can watch either of these with full brightness? My eyes burn after just a few minutes in vivid mode! I chose the Oled for the blacks vs the washed out look of led or qled. When there is a dark scene you can't tell if the tv is even on it's that good. Also my old LG had a anti glare coating which the new C1 does not, it's literally like glass but nothing some good curtains can't fix and honestly the glare is not even visible while playing any type of content. You can really only see the glare if the tv is off or for a few seconds while a pitch black scene is on. Also the LG is way ahead of the rest when it comes to gaming! Just my 2 cents, Cheers ✌

The C1 has 4 each 2.1 hdmi ports and the QN90A has one which is where you plug in your game console. If you only have one game console then is not such a big deal. Also, the C1 has a Smooth Gradient feature to help with gradient banding that doesn't remove as much detail as the noise reduction feature on the QN90A. Be cautious with QN95A. I was about to buy the 75 last week until i read many negative and recent comments in forums regarding the one connect box. If your one connect box goes faulty, your whole TV is essentially unusable unless you replace the box which can be the cost of a TV. Not to mention the screen cutting out, dirty screen down the sides and no support for Dolby Vision. This could be a small % of owners so each to their own. Also the updated cable on this model is thicker but shorter so if you need a longer cable for wall mounting, this will cost you even more money £££

For HDR you are meant to let the TV handle it and leave it at 100%. LCDs are still better for HDR content, they can actually display specular highlight detail regardless of APL. The OLED on the other hand clips the high end hard because its gutless and can't reach a decent brightness full screen; the starfield is the only place it really excels no question over tranmissive displays.

Subscribed for the editing and great comparisons, wonderful work. I've been torn over the C1, the X90J and the QN90A. The latter I was gonna write off because everyone makes a big deal about Dolby Vision. My tv is an almost 10 year old LED in 1080p so I was stunned when I saw all three of these tvs in person at Best Buy. The Samsung really caught my eye with the brightness, the LG had beautiful dark scenes and the Sony was a nice in between although not as colorful. I've now took the C1 off my list because I work long hours and occasionally fall asleep with the tv on so I know the OLED won't last in my place. Especially since I play fighting games more than anything so I would be cautious about those static life bars on the screen. Now I need to decide between the X90J and the QN90A it'll be a tough decision but this video gave some good insight.
@Lasse33 жыл бұрын
Go Samsung. The Sony you mention must be a budget TV, it has mediocre peak brightness of 775 nits cd/m2, that's below OLED peak.. In effect an LED monitor with sub-OLED peak brightness, an outrage! The QN90A though has 1800 nits cd/m2 peak brightness! That's the highest of any TV ever. That will give the most superior HDR experience ever. You have to remember that the HDR demonstration videos on KZbin aren't mastered to 1800 nits, far below, since no TV's can do it, especially not OLED. They cap below 1000 nits, with aggressive ABL. But on your Xbox /PS5 you can simply adjust HDR to 1800 nits, and the highlights will be emitted from your screen at 1800 nits, it looks extremely realistic! A true HDR experience! I have the Samsung Q90T last year's QLED flagship, though it "only" goes to 1400 nits, that's completely crazy when you adjust your game to actually run at 1400 nits dynamics! So unless this is a money issue, go with the Samsung.

These comparisons might sometimes be a little misleading. If I go watch the same video as shown here in the HDR comparison, I see way more shadow detail on my C1. Probably even more than the QN90A shown in this video. I have OLED brightness and contrast on 100 and tone mapping on so that’s probably the difference, but I feel like that’s how a lot of people have their OLED’s set up.
@kwalex68822 жыл бұрын
So I tested and turned off Auto Dynamic Contrast (Which is usually recommended to be turned on high when watching HDR content) and turned off HDR Tone Mapping and my C1 is still way more brighter and shows as luch shadow detail as the QN90A shown in this video. So I don’t know what type of settings the reviewer is using in this video? It’s kind of sad because I saw many comments here saying how they went for the QN90A because of this video. I almost did aswell. I was already about to return my C1 for the Samsung because I thought the C1 was actually that much dimmer than the QN90A when in fact in real life the C1 looks just like the QN90A in this video, if not brighter.

Great job VillaMan! I have a C9 OLED in my entertainment room in the basement and love it, but I also have an older Samsung LED TV in my living room upstairs where there is a slider with a large window above it and a half moon above that which can make that room extremely bright, so the old LED with a lot of brightness really helps. Watching movies is a no-brainer with the OLED and absolutely shines when watching movies like "Lord of the Rings" and other darker movies, but when the lights are on and I'm watching regular TV Channels and Sports, I have to use a very brightened Picture Mode to make it pop a bit more, which causes some slight issues on wide angle shots. All in all, the entire industry is getting better all the time and my next purchase will be at a time when we can have the best of both worlds on the same set.

i remember watching these same clips at best buy and it really comes down to lighting. in the shaded "magnolia" room at best buy the OLED picture looked perfect - there was detail all the way down the shadows. in the brightly lit main best buy floor it was black crush fest with OLED while QN90A looked perfect. it's that simple - OLED will destroy QLED at night and QLED will destroy OLED during the day. on the balance i think we have to give picture edge to OLED because it delivers when it counts the most - when watching movies at night - but the QN90A has the advantage of never having worry about managing your use to avoid burn-in. for a mixed use screen to be used by the entire family i would go with QN90A that way i don't have to explain what burn in is to anybody or how to avoid it. for my own personal use to watch movies at night - no contest - OLED wins and it's not close.
@Janjibro663 жыл бұрын
It's not completely that simple. OLED looks great at night yes but night time viewing isn't going to magically give an OLED super bright highlights than mini LED can deliver. Great review! I've already made my choice (before watching this) and the review outcome supports it to a level I didn't expect. Go to 10:15, pause and compare the 2 pictures. And see how much details are missing on the oled. The colors may be more accurate on the oled in general, but it misses so much details, and the details are the most important to feed your brain with to have the ultimate experience when watching. So much is missing on the oled that I think it might be some hardware/camera issue, because if that's the reality, it's very bad thing for the oled world. To resume, if you are a purist sworn in the RGB standards, doing 5h of calibration before watching a 2h movie in a basement with no sunlight knowing that you are covering all the standards while watching in the dark room, and that makes you happy , OLED is for you. And still, these details missing on the oled bother me more than anything else. (I personally have 65Q90R and ordered 75QN95A few days ago)
@carloscosta59732 жыл бұрын
Coming in late for this discussion and checked your comment, i just bought a 50QN90a, and while i do agree some images look better on OLED, i live in brazil and we have a website where you can file a complaint about basically any product you have purschased, and there are a TON of complaints on LG C1 about burn-in, mostly in TV's with less then 2-3 years, and on every case LG denied responsability because the warranty is 12 months. It is a flawed product and I can't stand the thought of someone buying a TV they think will lest for 5-10 years and it is just ruined in less then 2.
@muradm94072 жыл бұрын
Wow, you're totally right, just checked the image at 10:15, Samsung definitely got way more details.
@SkuezTech2 жыл бұрын
I'm late, but... I thought that particular frame looked way more realistic on the OLED. More details does not equal better, what matters is how the director wanted you to see the frame. You can practically bump up the brightness on any frame on any TV and see the details in the darker areas. This is, for example, how I cheat when playing survival games and it's night time. This is probably due to the infinite contrast on the OLED that is able to produce the image, while Samsung had to show the inside way brighter. Look outside the room at the sky, wich has more details on the OLED and is just as bright. Samsung is brighter for sure, but in terms of pure picture quality, C1 clears. I can also see by the way you're exaggerating that you're kinda clueless.

Great comparison video. I think it was pretty even. When it comes to these two TV's its really going to depend on where you're putting them. The only reason the OLED is my choice is because its going in my basement (light controlled), has more 2.1 hdmi options (PS5, AppleTV 4k and 4k BluRay player and Sonos Arc Sound Bar) and Dolby Vision...and the LG is more affordable ($300 less than the QN90A).
