Hello Dan, I was subscribed to you a long time ago..I can't wait for more S1000 GT stuff..actually, you were seemingly lucky to be the first to ride the bike and post on YT. I think that's a good sign that Suzuki UK value your opinion...it does point to the fact that you and your contemporaries do really influence new bike sales....and that is an amazing fact..

@@markgillett1472 Hey Mark, thanks for being a long term supporter of my channel, it is very much appreciated. Not sure I influence sales all that much but I just try to give an honest review from an average biker, that seems to be something people want. Ride safe and all the best! Dan

@@Englishbikerdan Hi Dan, I disagree...I think Suzuki DO think you influence sales...certainly influence opinion...and Kawasaki will eventually wake up, and recognise that you do have an effect on opinion, and ultimately sales too. I hope that soon, you will be able to go to BMW, KTM, Ducati, and whomever you want to try bikes from, and they will be happy to do so. I do think this will happen, if you continue your style of YT content. Just continue to do what you do...and you might be surprised what might happen. I'm sure you are aware that your influence is 'free advertising' for them...and your viewers are the guys that actually buy bikes. Don't underestimate how important what your content does....or overestimate either, ha ha :)

Suzuki gets a lot of shit these days for not innovating but this bike is proof positive that their formula of steadily improving what has already been successful is can be a winning strategy. This bike looks appears to be a stunning value. I hope it sells well.

I'd love a true "current gen" Suzuki naked. The GSX-S750 is really old and it's discontinued already. I remember reading something a few months ago about Suzuki having plans to refresh and modernize their bikes in the future. I hope this means a fresh new naked to compete with bikes like Tuono 660, CB650, or even the MT-07.
@Englishbikerdan
@Englishbikerdan 3 жыл бұрын
Rumours abound of a new Suzuki 650 class naked using a parallel twin.
@exothermal.sprocket
@exothermal.sprocket 3 жыл бұрын
They had a turbocharged concept come and go, called the Recursion. It was a 588cc parallel twin intercooled turbo, on a sports naked 1/4 fairing bike. Really wish they'd have put it out. But I suppose something along the lines of cost and sales numbers justifying a force induction bike in the sub-600cc range putting out the power of a 800-900cc bike, probably didn't make sense ultimately. Yes, the 645cc V-twin is probably going to get retired soon and replaced with a 690-ish or 700cc parallel twin (most likely a 270° crank in keeping with their v-twin sound/feel heritage) to compete with the excellent MT-07 that stole the show. Parallel twins are less expensive to manufacture, package, less weight, less complex fuel and cooling and exhaust systems. With no less than 4 firing order configurations that I know of, they can be made to feel and sound just about anything they want as well.

Copying something Kawasaki did over 10 years ago? Surely that’s proof positive Suzuki ARE shit at innovation. Same price as the SX, so how is it stunning value ? Nice to have a choice though between green and blue. Oh hold on, Kawasaki have already made one in this blue…..
@exothermal.sprocket
@exothermal.sprocket 3 жыл бұрын
@@douglasalexander4348 You don't HAVE to like Suzuki. Surely you've seen an example of a manufacturer that has been making something for years and might be a market leader in that particular product. Then along comes someone else and knocks them off their pedestal with the first swing. Happens often. If you can get past the brand bias, you might see the value of something. From experts motojournalists who've been in the bizz for decades and have ridden everything, micro-analyzed everything, seen and experienced it all, they are saying that the S1000GT is probably one of the best products Suzuki has put out in recent decades. Yes they don't put out a lot, but they put out. The tech is there, the aero is there, the features are there, the purpose of the bike is there, the horsepower is there, the lower weight is there, the durability and proven powerplant is there. Nothing to whine about.

Not too long ago, I was worried about the whole sport touring segment disappearing, and it is my preferred class of motorcycle. Now, there appears to have been a resurgence and there are several great sport touring bikes available. Well done Suzuki, it's great that they keep refining that awesome GSXR sourced powerplant, it is a legend.

Great video and we appreciate the honesty. Is there a plan to do a head to head comparison of the Tracer 9, 1000sx, and 1000GT models? I would be very interested to see how the bikes actually fair against one another. Also, some talking points I rarely see on any bikes in this segment are: 1. Spine compression (how the bike translates road conditions to your body) 2. Pillion perspectives on comfort, gab handle location/design, seat size, getting on/off bike, etc. 3. How the bike handles in 90 degrees (F) and above in city and on highway and what is the experience like (I live in Texas, its hot as hell here 9 months of the year) 4. Bike comfort and usability for larger riders (height and weight) 5. What is the best bike in the segment (this is a bit of a faux pas for some, but if you were going to buy 1 bike to do everything, what would that be?)

Good looking bike, possibly my next machine in a couple of years time… For me though a “GT Bike” should come standard with panniers, heated grips and a centre stand, which is an absolute must on any chain driven touring bike! Hopefully this will be addressed in future updates. But for now, my new Tracer 9-GT is the better more equipped machine - having all these things (and more) as standard!

I don't see many differences between this and the naked S1000..although there may be. Either one would suit me!! The whole single dipped, single main beam headlight is a thing that annoys me in general; why can't we have dual filament bulbs, it's not exactly a new or expensive technology for crying out loud. The Suzuki does seem sportier than the Ninja 1000SX, which I have test ridden along with the Ninja H2 SX SE+. It is lighter with more horsepower than the 1000SX, just look at the frame and swingarm. It's half the cost of the 2022 H2 SX SE. The 2019 H2 SX SE+ I rode seemed top heavy. Both Ninjas are more luxurious than this Suzuki. The 2022 H2 SX SE has the same type of dash as this Suzuki plus heated grips, IMUs, radar sensors for collision warning and blind spot monitor, tire pressure meter, cornering LEDs, Bluetooth key fob, supercharger with 200 hp, and a centerstand, but at double the price of this Suzuki. I would opt for the higher touring screen and a top-box. I don't have much use for panniers these days. Tend to get in the way when filtering through traffic. I've fitted a 56 litre Givi top box which I find indispensable for holding helmet,shopping,bike lock, tubeless puncture kit, wet weather pants.Screen looks peachy. Very nice and unfiltered review! While the bikes headlight does look like a Yamaha, specifically the MT-10's, I think it still is in a league on its own being a new release from Suzuki. Keep up the good work!

When they released the bloody thing, two things happened immediately: 1. I thought to myself "this is gonna be my next bike"... 2. ... but before I buy it I hope Dan makes a review. But it didn't even cross my mind the review would be THIS year! Awesome stuff, thanks man (writing that even before actually watching lol).

I've been looking for a sport tourer but being a Kawasaki fan I was looking at the 1000 SX. And to be honest the only thing I don't like about the Kawasaki is the available color options now I know I'm not going to buy a bike just because of the available color options but that's what actually brought me to look at the Suzuki, that being said Kawasaki's color options broadened my horizons you might say. A test ride of each will tell the tale!

Having ridden a sv650, then my fathers K1200GT and FJR1300 I can greatly appreciate this bike. I haven’t ridden in years now but this may be a contender for my next 2 wheel ride. Oh the choices but it’s a shame the inventory everywhere is so bad :(

Great to see another vid! Here's a question for you. You bought a triumph tiger 850 (if I remember correctly) with a view to doing some more touring, with a pillion, and a seat that you can actually sit in for more than 30 minutes. If this bike had been around, would it have tempted you over the tiger sport, even though it's a couple £k more.

Really interested in this bike! Seems like a nice alternative to adventure bikes if you want something to tour on that isn’t incredibly heavy and expensive. Might be a bit worse than a V-Strom 1050 on gravel but probably much nicer on the motorway?
@rantANDrave1987
@rantANDrave1987 3 жыл бұрын
Depends on how you define adventure. The vstrom is more comfortable for longer hauls due it’s upright position and relaxed ergos. It’s also somewhat off-road capable. The GSX S is purely a road machine with a stronger emphasis on spirited sport riding vs all day touring

Great review, could you describe a littler more about the amount and type of vibration it has at different rpm's ? I've had 2 FJRs (5-speed and 6-speed) and couldn't get used to the 3500-4500 buzz zone. Does it vibrate more or less ? Thanks very much. I'm ready to put a deposit on one.

I’m actively seeking a comfortable sports tourer and no matter what I look it I keep coming back to Pan European followed by FJR. All these new age sports tourers seem heavy-weighted towards sport and for the life of me I don’t know why considering the GSXR is there, the mad Kawasaki is there, the blade is there. Bring back proper comfortable tourers with enough power and all the required touring requirements. Rant over. I’ll be buying a pan.

I found the it very comfortable, even though it does look sporty. 350 miles over 2 days with breaks and I had no pain or discomfort. Perhaps doing 400 miles in a day with less breaks would show some issues. For full comfort you now have the NT1100 or take your pick of big adventure bikes. Thanks for the sub, appreciated. 👍

@@Englishbikerdan thanks I’ll maybe try a test ride, I seen the NT1100, not for me like so many of the adventure bikes, it’s the styling and high ridding position that puts me off. RE: Kawasaki, why not book yourself a test ride of the 1000SX then just blog the bugger 😀

Have you risen the new Tracer 9 GT? If so how does this compare to it in terms of comfort, handling, power, weight etc and honest answer which would you choose?
@Englishbikerdan
@Englishbikerdan 3 жыл бұрын
I've ridden the older Tracer 900 GT but not the new Tracer 9. Yamaha's are very difficult to ride as the local dealers to me don't seem interested and Yamaha themselves aren't yet loaning bikes out to us lowly KZbinrs yet (other than TMF). Judging from what I've heard from other people, I would take the Suzuki. It's not as wild as the Tracer but more comfortable and probably a lot faster top end. Not that top end should matter really. Plus I much prefer the looks of the Suzuki and I've had a bad experience with Yamaha for reliability.
@garystratton8731
@garystratton8731 3 жыл бұрын
@@Englishbikerdan Thanks Dan. I will certainly have a look at these next year. I am on a new Tracer 7 at the moment. Just thinking of upgrade options next. Considered Triumph Tiger, Tracer 9, Suzuki V Strom, Africa Twin which are all Adventure style bikes as comfort is very important to me having a bad back. But this new GT looks like a good alternative. What’s your thoughts?
@Englishbikerdan
@Englishbikerdan 3 жыл бұрын
@@garystratton8731 I'd test everything you can of course before parting with your cash. I could throw a cat amongst the pidgeons and say th BMW 1250GS is by far the most comfortable bike I've ridden thus far, but they are not cheap. They'll all do the job to be honest, just depends how you get on with each personally as we all have different requirements and experience comfort slightly differently. Hope that's helped but it's a hard one to answer really! Cheers!

@HahrtDood Yes indeed, worst bike I've ever owned was the MT07. Absolute disgrace to be classed as Japanese built. So many of them had major rust issues on the coolant pipes, swingarm and frames. Mainly on welds and under the tank area. I had my swing arm replaced under warranty, only for the new one to rust within 3 months during summer. Not to mention the numerous electronics issues I faced. If you go back on my channel long enough, you'll see a few vids about it. Shame, as they make some fun motorcycles.

Okay so I have some questions I'd love to see you cover in your future material(s) about that bike or just as comments, please: 1. Seems like the position is quite comfortably upright (not too sporty but not like full upright like on an adventure bike) - doesn't that mean that you get a lot of wind blown at your face, I mean helmet? Does the accessory screen improve that a lot or just barely noticeably? 2. The side cases - how firm are they especially when you accidentally hit a hole on the road? 2. Side cases again - do they really fit a helmet? How's the antiwater protection of those? 3. Details on riding position - I'm currently riding on a GSX-S750 and I love the bike but the position is quite leaned forward so after a while I need to have a stretch because my lower back and knees start to hurt a little. I'm assuming there's no such problem with that bike? (just making sure) 4. If you could please compare the rider's position and handling of that beauty to e.g. your previous bike, the CB-650R. What I mean is that this bike is definitely heavier but were you uncomfortable with that mass? Or even compare it with your current machine, of course if you can ;) Thanks for the material, I've been watching your videos for a while with great pleasure, you've definitely grown as a content creator on KZbin, cheers from Poland!

Sports touring or naked bike is where it's at for me right now. I would love for Suzuki to bring an updated naked middleweight and a "new" middleweight sports tourer on the market. I'm sure they've caught on to the popularity but afraid they might hold out too long. Still they make great bikes for value. Thanks for this first ride review Dan.

As in the past (remember the past?) I hope Suzuki offers incentive packages IE: a package that includes panniers, higher windscreen, heated grips, comfort seat . . . you know, the things that justify the T part of the GT.

Not a fan of Kwak design language personally other than the 900 RS. We rode these bikes pretty hard in the wet and not once did I feel it needed an IMU. I even got a puncture and the bikes TCS just dealt with it up until it had very little air left in the tyre. Then it got interesting! 😂
