Being invited by Triumph, you've made the big time! People are going to bang on about comparing it with the CB650R and the MT07 but the GSX-S750 is currently selling at £7,249. Having test ridden the GSX-S750 with its 112bhp it's the bike I'd buy right now.
@Englishbikerdan4 жыл бұрын
Technically that bike isn't in the same sector. All the other bikes are under 95bhp and can be A2 restricted. Personally, I can't stand the looks of the Suzuki naked range other than the SV which looks pretty cool.

Good point. GSX-S750 it's a rock-solid bike. And as long as it is around 7k price point it should be counted as a competitor.

@@StereotypedFilms It's RELIABLE (caps on purpose), has more than enough power and torque for the street, and traction control. What is lacking there, cause i see mostly pros ? No TFT ? Look at the road. I wouldn't even look at Trident if i was to buy a naked around that price. Looks are subjective, therefore not an argument in any discussion.

If only more people remembered the gsx-s 750😢 it might be possible to one day find one on the used market. I don't like the street fighter naked styling in general, but of all the alternatives (kawi, Yamaha, Honda f naked and worst of all KTM) the Suzuki was clearly the best looking.

Great review Dan, excellent quality. At 56, In September I decided I wanted motorbike so within 6 weeks I managed to take all the tests and so close to buying the XSR700 Tribute when our second lockdown happened in the UK and all of the shops closed. A day later Triumph launched this and has completely blown me away. I've lost track of how many videos of motorbikes I've watched over the last 6 weeks! I'm surprised more test riders don't compare the Trident to the XSR700, to which I think it looks closer too, than the MT07? I'm 6 foot tall with a 30 inch inside leg measurement (so not long legs) and 16 stone. So I hope the Trident would be ok for me? I have a deposit on one and can't wait to try it.
@Tybward4 жыл бұрын
I’m in the exact same boat. I had my eyes set on the XSR for nearly 6 months until this came out. Now I think I have shifted my eyes to purchase the trident instead. The only let down for me is that I absolutely love the exhaust sound of the XSR with an after market pipe.
@stevebeeston87494 жыл бұрын
@@Tybward I'm not so bothered about that as you can hardly hear it when you've got your helmet on. The only other thing is that you can guarantee that they will be bringing out a Euro 5 compliant version of the XSR700 at some point next year? It might still not have the features of the Trident though as the MT07 didn't have anything new on it.
@Englishbikerdan4 жыл бұрын
Cheers! While I agree in terms of looks it is closer to the XSR, the MT07 is the King of the middleweight nakeds at the moment and that's what the Trident is going for. I can't say about anyone's height other than my own as we are all different shapes and sizes. However there were taller people on the launch and I don't remember them saying anything negative about the riding comfort or position.

I have to say, this is the first review of Trident where the camera has a nice position and I can see the speed and gear you are in. I was wondering if anyone will show 1st gear challenge, but unfortunately not. I see 2nd gear goes up to 90km/h (~56mph) and 3rd gear up to ~120km/h (~75mph). If this torque is really as good as they say at low rpm...it may be a decent city commuter. But that throttle lag slightly worries me, a few people already mentioned it.
@Englishbikerdan4 жыл бұрын
Apparently the throttle lag is to make it friendly for new riders. It's only down low that I noticed it and when you get going it was a lot better. Still, I would have like the option of a 'sport' mode to reduce it.

That's a nice bike, nice place and nice review. It's a shame this is not a very affordable bike in my country. I have a question though, why don't you blip during downshifts? I feel its a little harsh on the bike, even with an assited (Im assuming) clutch. Take care!!

I don't rev match or blip if I want to employ some engine breaking to help slow the bike down into a corner. Thanks for watching, it was a fantastic weekend in Tenerife! 👍

Loved the narration and the overall feel of the video. Qne question, do you see this becoming a good touring option for people who can accessorize the bike to suit that purpose? In terms of overall long distance comfort and reliability too
@Englishbikerdan4 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I see no issues with touring on this bike, I found it more comfortable than my own CB650R! Reliability remains to be seen but Triumph seems to have spent a lot of time engineering it into the bike. Cheers!

@@Englishbikerdan Thanks. I am hoping to get a test ride, once they officially launch this bike in India. Awaiting your detailed review on this one, please cover the touring aspects of the bike as well when you do.

I'd love one of these as my first bike, but they seem to be quite a lot more to insure than the CB650R.

Where are you at and why more to insure?

DAN GREAT VIDEO. Long time sub here. I currently ride a CBR 250R and am looking to upgrade next summer. Ive had my eye on the CB650R since it came out and have wanted one since it launched. HOWEVER. THIS TRIPLE IS VERY TEMPTING. I NEED ADVICE ON WHICH TO GET LOL. They cost the exact same in Canada so price is not a factor! What do you think? More grunt down low wit hthe Triumph, or More powert up high with the CB? Help me make up my mind!

Hey mate, if you compare this bike to its Japanese rival which better bike?

Can't wait to hear this bike with an aftermarket exhaust

A nice full arrow minus the dB killer perhaps? Was looking at buying an Sv650 next spring but I think the trident is worth the extra grand
@TheRedbeefburger3 жыл бұрын
@@tonyseath2278 Yeh a nice full arrow would be perfect and also that would probably drop a fair bit of weight as the stock exhaust looks quite beefy

Lovely bike, it fits into a segment, MT 07 is lighter, quicker but a 270 twin, you cannot beat a triple, especially one this well priced.

I'll admit, when it was first shown off I didn't like the look of it but to be completely honest it's actually growing on me. That being said the engine doesn't sound as good as I was hoping, I prefer the more throaty/gurgly sounds, something akin to the MTs.

Can I ask how tall you are? I’m 5’8 and wondering if I’ll be able to get both feet down. This is at the top of my list for my first bike
