Here in San Diego, CA they are the most common full size truck. Two years ago it was the F150, but now, I rarely see the new style, now as for the Silverado Custom, I'll say is the most common half ton and even more common than the LTs. I did a quick Google and local listing and it seems they are being sold with rebates. I've seen them for less than $40k in 4wd. As for the F150, they all have high mark ups. Plus, in base form. The custom looks better than the rest. Interior, yes, is a bit boring, but being a truck it fine. As for me, half of me, the child side wants a V8 LT trailboss, but the mature side knows the 4cyl works for my non towing life and my wallet will thank me.

@@Brutemandave you'd absolutely right. The 2.7T real world is 3mpg better in the city than the 5.3L. That equals an almost extra 75 miles in the city with the tiny 24 gallon fuel tanks. To make that mileage up in the 5.3L, you'd need to buy an extra 4.6gallons of fuel. Might not seem like much but at $4 a gallon that's almost $20 saved every fillup. The 5.3L engine is also a $2000 extra cost option, also about 8x more expensive on the salvage market.

2015 Denali Duramax dually with 325k lost the #4 cylinder. Needed a truck to get around NOW. Any decent used one was pushing me over 30k with 175,000 miles. Walked into the dealership after a week of looking for a used truck and told them I wanted the least expensive full sized truck they had. Ended up with the 22 2.7 2wd Silverado Limited. Don't love it because it's not MY TRUCK, goddamnit, but I don't hate it. Plenty of "go" for what it is. Turning 7 second 0-60 (at sea level). Handles well. Has easily towed my Jeep and 18' utility trailer loaded with construction debris. Mileage not much better than the 3500. Getting a consistent 22 on the highway. 3500 was geting 20. Does get better in town mileage, 19 compared to 15 or so. Main savings is gas being considerably less expensive than diesel. The top end governor sucks. The Denali Dually is deleted, so when I put my foot in it to get around a couple tankers on a 2 lane road, it scoots on by. This thing does too.... up to 98 mph when the guv'ner kicks in and you shit yourself because you're in the oncoming lane whilst passing a cattle hauler in Texas with a water hauler barreling head on at you, and your throttle.... Just Went Dead I literally just drove it from Florida to Denver and it performed flawlessly, averaging 21.8 at speeds in excess of 80 mph. Only real complaints are the fucking governor (yes, I feel that strongly about it) and the seats get really uncomfortable after about 8 hours. And it sounds like a baby farting in a bathtub when you stomp on the acceleraror.

I liked the previous body color grill and headlights better, the only thing I like about this new one is that it has 430 Ib ft of torque, and it has the electric driver seat. I don't too much care about the push button start, but it is a nice touch for this trim level. The key fob looks a little silly but I will get over it. Maybe I'm just being picky.

I just traded my 22 Chevy Silverado 1500 crew cab with 6K miles for a 22 Ford F 150 STX Super Crew. Why so soon? A couple of things. I did have a two year extended warranty. However, first of all, the truck indicated low oil pressure the entire time I had it. The oil pressure hovered around 1/4 low on the dial and sometimes less. I knew that wasn’t right. I couldn’t find any information online on this particular issue. Second, the transmission would occasionally sputter like it couldn’t figure out which gear it needed to be in. This I did find other owners who reported the same issue. I was concerned so I got the F 150. It’s great! And my oil pressure is exactly where it should be. Anyway, that’s my experience.

I drove a 2022 2.7L, felt like a better engine than the 5.3L honestly. The previous generation 2.7L was very sluggish and certainly felt like a 4 cylinder. Reliability shouldn’t be a concern imo, it has forged internals and diesel grade components to increase the design life of the engine. You’ll see these engines make it 250,000+ miles no problem.

The previous gen 2.7s are great too. My dad just bought a 2022 silverado trailboss (old body style) with a 2.7 and its honestly great. He personally couldn't tell the difference between driving a new 2.7 and the old, and he saved roughly $6k getting the previous body style truck.

Did you just say 9000 pound tongue weight? Perhaps you meant 9000 pound trailer weight which would be an estimated 900 pound tongue (hitch ball) weight. Towing capacity also depends on a few body choices and final drive axel choices. Hopefully GM did not rate the 2nd trucks with the highest trailer tow capacity.

This is ridiculous. Few months ago you could get a custom trail boss with a V8 for that price. Who's going to buy this crap? And I'm a Chevy fan. Love your reviews man, but when you started naming off basic stuff like AC, and saying you were surprised that this was the base model lol. You lost me, Actually you lost me when you played the exhaust sound lol ... Love when you mention that the truck quote "coasts really well" 🤣 would love to see this in the Colorado, or other smaller vehicles

me, that is who. I live in the Toronto area and for used trucks, the pricing is insane here, you pay over 30k for a 2014 truck with low miles on it. I DO NOT need all the bells and whistles of an 80k truck for my work truck so I was happy to find one of these trucks. for what it is, I couldn't be happier. but its all in the perspective of the person, if all you will drive is fully loaded vehicles , then of course this truck is not for you. I love it! and yes, I've had the 3/4 ton loaded work horse before. I dont miss those payments at all. lol

I am very cautious of a 4 cylinder. I like the look of the Silverado body, but the interior is not appealing and the prices are ridiculous. With that said, Chevy is still offering better deals than Ford today (as sad as that statement is). RAM has the best deals in my area, unless you want a crew cab. Just not a good time to be in the market for a new truck price wise.

Drove a older model 5.3 and it felt really sluggish compared to my 2.7 Ecoboost, it hade a good ride though and I’m sure if taken care of 200k+ ain’t a big challenge, not crazy about the Chevy 4 cylinder sound, but I’m sure the V8 guys will say the same thing about my ecoboost. I know GM does build great engines and I hope this is a great engine too, don’t want anyone to get a bad truck as much as they cost now. It’s been out a while so maybe all the bugs are gone.
