In the old days you took your tool box with you when you climbed into the engine compartment, then 2 friends climbed in as well. While you did the oil change, you could discuss where the next fishing trip would be. haha, Nothing is easy on a newer vehicle these days.

You’re absolutely right! I have fond memories of helping my dad fix the old 69 Chev. I don’t recall that they were happy times because that meant something was broke, but they are good memories looking back.

I like how they placed the oil drain plug so oil would hit the sway bar when you drain the oil . So much thought was in the design .

🤣I could have used a couple bags for sure! The engineers apparently never have had to change their oil before.

I take the drain plug out partially. takes less than a minute to empty and I don't have any mess to clean up. Even my hand remains clean. But I've never seen anyone take the time so I guess i'm the odd ball lol

thanks for the video and teaching me what not to do....spill oil everywhere, drop the pan and don't follow mfg torque settings. However, the entertainment was worth it.

Dorman makes a replacement drain plug that you open with a screw driver and drains straight down, missing the sway bar.

Good lord, I just did my first oil change on my 2.7 using a 9l Tupperware I bought at a dollar store and didn’t spill a drop. That whole thing was painful to watch 😂. I do the drain plug and don’t pull it out all the way. You can totally control how much comes out and after a couple of quarts are out then you can pull it out all the way. This was one of the easiest oil changes I’ve ever done, so easy I cancelled my order for the Ronin Drain Plug. No need to spend 80$ CAD on a drain plug.
