Today I'm testing the cheapest Mach-E that you can buy! well the red paint was extra I had to do that. I've tested my model 3 twice it came in at 247 and later I did a test it came in at 213. I did a test on a Model X p100d I was able to squeak out 185 MI. let's get out there and see how many miles this Mach-E can do! The window sticker says it can do 247 but that's under mixed driving all highway driving should be less.

I got the mach e scheduled for production first week of june but thanks to your video I think Im going to keep my Tesla Model 3 Long Range. I cant deal with that type of limited range . Less than 200 miles on a full charge is a no go for me. I have over 300 miles on mine. Thanks for the video and keep up the good work.

I would say from my testing the model 3 has a good 40 to 60 miles more range on the highway than the Sr Mach-E now if you were able to pick up a long range Mach-E I would say it would be equivalent or a little better

I believe that the Nav was routing you to a charger rather than going directly to your destination because it wants to ensure you arrive with some charge. I think it tries to leave you with 8%-11%. Obviously the routing should recognize your home destination as a place you could charge. Baby steps.

I wish there was like a email or button in the app where you could easily send suggestions or report small glitches like that I don't feel like bothering the chat person all day everyday I feel like they know me by name though 😂 it would be nice if you could just remove charging stops.

Lovely car an that's some pretty good mileage going on at 70mph speeds, I'm from Scotland an speed limit is 60mph here on roads in my area only motorways /highways are 70mph, I travel ten miles to work an ten back a day so only 20 miles a day so be about 120 miles a week over 6 days so this base spec Mach e is on my list for next car after the one I'm getting in October, just ordered a ford puma st in mean green which will be my last petrol then I fancy going electric, torn between Kia ev6 base model an Mach e base model, I like the look of both 👌 greetings from Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿😁👍
@Crazypostman
@Crazypostman Жыл бұрын
Mean green is the only color to get if you're getting a puma St 👍 the ev6 and the Mach-E are both excellent cars. The only big difference is the ev6 is going to have superior battery technology. But that will only come into effect if you go on long trips and need to use public DC fast chargers. If you have the ability to charge at home you will find an electric is so much more convenient then the petrols. Thanks for watching my video!

@@Crazypostman thanks man, think the one I really like most is the Mach e standard range base model, would charge at home even using the charger you plug in sockets in house till I get a wallbox charger an where I go on my camping trips which range between 50 miles from home and 120 miles from home can pay for an electric tent pitch an charge car there lol , I like the Mach e in that bluey grey colour think it's called infinite blue but space white is nice too 👌👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Pros... I like that you feel like you are taller, that rapid red is just gorgeous, interior quality is excellent. Cons... Ford's phone as a key is horrible, literally an error every time I get in. DC charging takes much longer. The copilot 360 system needs more refinement.

I don't think it's a bug, the system doesn't assume you have a charger at home, it's focus is to get you to a charger, so that you do not run out of charge, which is really more critical than a range test. What fix would you suggest to Ford?
@Crazypostman
@Crazypostman 2 жыл бұрын
I've added my house address as a charging location on the touch screen it should assume I can charge there. But I get what you're saying about finding a fast charger to complete the trip.

@Crazypostman
@Crazypostman 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah that's a lot of miles for only 70 kilowatt hours of usable battery. I would have to average 3.52 to make it that far and I was only averaging 2.7 and there's no way the mach is getting that on the highway because sometimes my model 3 doesn't even get that good

This is the same model my wife ordered a few weeks ago. I’m confused about why Ford says 247 miles of range but at 100% charge your computer said 178 miles. Guessing that it was estimating on your driving history of 2.7 Kw/mile?
@Crazypostman
@Crazypostman 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah that estimate is based on your consumption history. The dashboard estimate is actually very accurate to what you should expect. I've complained a lot about the lack of range and really this boils down to it's basically the epa's fault in my case because their highway driving numbers are much lower speed average than my average. In the epa's test they went 8.1 miles and only averaged 48 mph I don't know about you but when I'm on the highway I'm doing 70 75 so of course they're findings are going to be way inflated

If you have a thing that says I want 30% charge left at the end, and it thinks you will only have 20%, then it would route that way.

Google maps has been getting worse & worse over past 5 years for estimating shortest distances, and it wants me to go for wild additional loops sometimes 6-8 miles more when 2 will get me there. Maybe it's powered by dislexia.

I desperately want an ev, but see this is the issue with EVs being made for the US market. I happen to have 2 routes I drive once a month that's are each about 190 mi up and down mountains, this car will not do those drives without at least a 20 minute charge stop each way. (Right now I have a hybrid that will do there and back on one one tank.) I don't think I'm all that atypical. The distances are greater than the range allows. Certainly out west. But even in the east. NY - Boston: 215mi. LA - Fresno: 219mi. NYC- DC 226mi. Dallas-Houston 239mi. SF- Lake Tahoe 209mi. Also, people drive 80 here. A car, especially a car costing over 40k, should be able to drive at 75mph with the ac on for 225mi and certainly a bit more would be beter. Even the so-called long range version of the Mach E tipping $60k can barely do that. For a real world highway range test you really need to take off about 25% from the stated epa range for most of these evs. Teslas too. If anyone wonders why these fairly expensive cars are starting to pile up at US dealers I think this is one big reason.
@Crazypostman
@Crazypostman 10 ай бұрын
Yes you're correct, highway driving is a continuous load on the EV battery so it drains quicker. You could get something that charges quickly like the ioniq5 and only need to stop a few minutes. It can put in about 20 kWh in 5 minutes. Which would be about 60mi depending on your driving style
@Crazypostman

The way EV range is rated needs to be a city number and a highway number just like gas. 40 mph and 70mph That way people really know.

Hello! I am new to the EV world. Your car is charged at 100% I am thinking it should say you can drive 247 miles correct? It is reading a lower number.🚙
@Crazypostman
@Crazypostman 2 жыл бұрын
In a perfect world driving about 50MPH you could get 247. But cold temperatures accelerating and fast speeds will drastically lower that number. The range estimate on the screen is supposed to be an accurate representation of what you should be able to actually achieve. It fluctuates based on driving habits

That has to be it but it's a software oversight on Ford's part because I have entered my address as a charging location to be able to adjust my charge limits so I know my address is in there.
