@@5DollarHoller I had a 2015 Ford Explorer. My kids sat in the 3rd row once just for fun. I’m 6’ 1”, and getting in and out of the 3rd row was doable for me and the seating position would be ok for an odd trip here and there but nothing more than maybe a 20 minute drive. For us we needed the cargo space more than the 3rd row so the 3rd row was always down. I wished they offered that same SUV with simply a large cargo area with the 3rd row removed from the factory 😕. I also had a 2011 Sorento that we traded in for the Explorer since my boys were growing and even in the 2nd row their knees were at an uncomfortable angle, the 2nd row seats were too low and the Sorento didn’t have enough head room for us. Then I saw on the Sorento redesign they added a 3rd…that must be god awful. 😕. These midsize SUVs just don’t have the space for a comfortable 3rd row.

I have two toddlers and these simple and roomy interior is more than perfect for my family with kids. Honestly the only tech I've ever used in my cars are the bluetooth and Android auto to listen to music and for GPS. Never really bothered about all other infotainment features. I sat on one of the sold Passports at the dealership and the first and second row space was just crazy. The simple no clutter interior and cockpit works very well for me. Also the Canadian TrailSport comes with climate controls and heated seat controls in the back too unlike the US. Also the orange accent lighting inside 😄 which is kinda cool. I found it interesting that Zack kept mentioning that the off road improvements were merely cosmetic. While that is true, it is important to note that the passport has an excellent AWD system for both on road and light off road. The AWD system is one of the best attributes of the passport and likely much more capable than even many off road focused systems of the competition except the most extreme ones. I believe the new rugged looks match the capability of the vehicle. In the interest of full disclosure, I own a 2020 passport. I am happy to discuss the faults of the passport but off road capability is not one of them. If you need more off road capability, buy a wrangler rubicon. If you don’t need a rubicon, you’ll be happy with the capability of the passport. Thank you to Zack and Andrea for creating such great Canadian car content. Cheers!

@@robwinemiller9712 Good question. I love my passport more and more the longer I own it, but it is by no means perfect. I drive a 2020 EX-L. I live in Canada and we get really cold winters with lots of snow. It heats really well. Fuel economy would certainly be a down side. I use the eco button and it likely helps a little but I have not measured it so I can’t say for sure. Either way, real world world fuel economy is not good. The fuel tank is also relatively small so the range is fine but not great. I usually fill up around 500KM in town or 600KM on the highway. A Highlander Hybrid may be a better choice if economy is important. While I love the function of the interior, it certainly isn’t luxurious. If you're shopping this car keep in mind, there really isn't a big difference in price in America between the EX-L and Trailsport (TS) because most EX-Ls are delivered with AWD and roof rails. This puts the price of the EX-L at or slightly below the TS. If you care about navigation, fog lights, and floor mats the TS might be the better deal. Plus, the 18in wheels feel more comfortable on the road IMO in comparison to the 20in wheels on the EX-L and Elite versions of this vehicle.

We’d like to get a new Odyssey, but I don’t know if we’ll get one if they don’t address that height adjustment issue. My other heartburn is how they require you to buy the crazy expensive “Elite” model to get ventilated leather seats. I own a 2015 Lincoln MKC 2.0 AWD and while i LUV my vehicle and it's been great in the snow. I want something a bit more "rugged looking" for my next vehicle. I think this Trailsport will fit the bill VERY nicely. However, Honda needs to do some changes. The first being downgrading the 20in tires on the EX-L and Elite trims to the Trailsport's 18in tires. I mean lets face facts folks you simply CANNOT off road in 20in wheels. And these Passports are ALL THE SAME no matter the trim. As they ALL share the exact same I-VTM4 AWD systems. Now i hear Honda is going to make further changes to make the Trailsport truly "off road worthy". Let's hope they follow through on that. The next thing i would do is offer the grey leather trim in the Trailsport. I think with the orange contrast stitching & badging it would look gorgeous with the sonic gray pearl exterior color. Having only one color and that being black to choose from is rather dull and boring. And you'd be surprised how the grey leather would spruce up that Trailsport interior VERY quickly. It's one of the main reasons why i am waiting to purchase one. Because currently you can only get the grey leather trim on the EX-L and Elite trims. In either a dark blue, white, or silver exterior color. C'mon Honda it isn't that difficult to add the grey leather to the Trailsport trim. Also, please body color paint the exterior mirrors on the Trailsport. The black just sucks...!!! And lastly give us the option of two different colored roof rail colors. The current black and also a silver. Everyone may not agree with me on these changes. But i think the majority of folks would agree the black interior on the Trailsport needs the gray color option. And the 20in wheel size on the EX-L & Elite trims needs to go. If nothing else but these two changes get done for future models. I'll be a VERY happy camper.

Wonder why this Passport does NOT have the better, more attractive dashboard/gauges that are in the Ridgeline?? I thought the front half of the Ridgeline and this Passport are basically the same design.. But somehow Honda forgot to give the Passport the better upgraded dashboard?? That is a shame.

I just seen the 2023 model and they didn't even change the interior to a 2023 standard. Let's hope the 2024 version the interior will be upgraded Like the CRV and the Pilot. I guess i will have to wait till 2024..

Like the reliability of the Hondas don't like the plastic interiors for the money.

Thanks for the great review. I love Honda. In fact, I currently own 2 Civics. But in this competitive segment, I will probably go with Venza and Santa Fe. That ZF 9AT and HondaLink UI have suffered from some quality issues.

Thanks for watching, so glad you liked it. We have a 2017 Civic and it's been great, but yes, Honda and Acura have had some quality issues.

@@andreaspencer9813 ZF 9AT have too many scary histories. I wish Honda will give it 10AT like Odyssey does In next redesign. And a hybrid option to compete with Venza and Santa Fe too.

@@A3A4Tom what are your thoughts of the possibility that Honda would use the same ZF-9AT version as what Nissan Pathfinder/QX60 have?
@A3A4Tom2 жыл бұрын
@@Blank00 I still have serious doubt about its reliability. I got friends who got screwed up badly with previous TLX and current Pilot 's ZF 9AT. Anything with that application won't be on my shopping list.

Hope they redesign but leave the v6 as an option. Love to see it like the cx-50 or more of a wagon form.

Many are experiencing pano roofs leaking. Lots of water are being found in interiors. Defective design in channel ports for water drains.

You guys should probably do a bit more testing/research before commenting - or short of that, watch your "competitor's" videos. Honda's i-VTM4 system in the AWD Passport is actually VERY good at making up for the Passport's other shortcomings off-road. The TrailSport trim is currently just a "cosmetic" trim as you mentioned, but it doesn't mean the Passport can't hold its own offroad against similar vehicles. You guys probably shouldn't comment on off roading because that's obviously not your forte. The Passport is definitely dated and lacks a lot of the bells and whistle that their competitor's have but it has one of the best "consumer" V6s paired with a tried and true transmissions. The Passport is for people who want a solid and reliable mid-SUV with a V6 and traditional transmission (no CVT garbage).

The other point that you guys made - is what's wrong with consumers today. Honda and Toyota don't really "need" to update their cars with the latest bells and whistles to draw in customers. The value and reliability of these brands more than speak for itself. Hyundai, Kia, and etc...it wasn't that long ago that they were basically manufacturing "disposable" cars. To many, their reliability is still VERY suspect...they're loaded with tech bells and whistles to draw you in and fool people into believing that these cars are actually worth $40K, $50K, $60K - which is just laughable imo. I do agree that the Passport needs an interior facelift - but Honda knows it doesn't need to do it and people will still buy these cars.
@sm7532 жыл бұрын
If you think people who are considering the Passport care about EVs or plug-in hybrids...then you don't understand the demographic/segment Honda is trying to capture with the Passport. I know given my comments - you may think I'm a Honda fanboy...but FYI I don't currently drive a Honda!

That push button shifter is dangerous. You could easily press the wrong button.
@Blank002 жыл бұрын
Hyundai Santa Fe and Palisade also have the same type of shifter. Also, the rotary knob found in Fords is worse.
@truth9592 жыл бұрын
@@Blank00 Not really, at least with a rotary shifter, you can't go from Drive to Reverse in one step.
@Blank002 жыл бұрын
@@truth959 Actually, you can, depending on the knob design. If you put extra torque on the knob, you can go from drive to reverse.

@@Blank00 Uh No. With a Rotary, you go from D thru N and P and then Reverse. With a Push button you just press R in one easy step. Really bad design. Driving is not a video game.

I would prefer the outdated but ergonomical Honda Passport interior over the new but less ergonomical interior found on the new Outback.

I would love to see Honda update their infotainment to something like Hyundai is doing, I just got a 2022 Civic Touring, no usb C, charging station doesn’t work with IPhone 13, small screen for the price, I had to get touring to even get 9inch.

Couldn’t agree less. I like that the infotainment screen on the passport doesn’t look like an IPad was glued to the dashboard
