Which side of the crush washer faces the oil pan? The side with rounded edges of the washer or the pointed egdes?
@nprform8 ай бұрын
Flat side goes against the bolt head, the rounded edge goes against the pan. The rounded side will then flatten as it’s tightened against the pan.

By the way, what did you torque your oil drain plug to? And what do you torque your lug nuts to as well?
@nprform8 ай бұрын
@@delasmoo The drain plug should be torqued between 25.3 - 32.5 foot pounds of torque.

I use the exact same oil as you and have 20k miles, no issues. I have a Futumo valve for my oil pan which makes draining the oil a lot easier. In over 20 years of owning cars I've never pre-oiled my filter. Good instruction video! I also feel it's very easy to change the oil on this particular car. I have some Race Ramps (56") to bring the car up, or I use a jack stand.

Thank you! I got new ramps after the oil change.

Thanks. I'm coming up on my first oil change and dreading to take it to the dealership for my first Complimentary one and just been debating on doing it myself. I guess I'll just hang on to the recipt since.i heard they like to deny any Warranty claims without proof the oil has been changed

For a Elantra N I recommend 05-w40
@muhammadtalha50928 ай бұрын
hey man, what I do is use a solo red cup and put that around the oil filter. No mess!! plus you don'y have to take the splash shield off. Hope this helps :)

It’s funny you didn’t mention Shell Motor oil as that’s the recommended brand on the sticker in the engine bay of my Elantra N and you will also see their logo on the TCR race team’s uniforms.
@nprform8 ай бұрын
The sticker shows Shell and Quaker State. Both my Elantra and Veloster manuals only state the recommended oil is Quaker state. I simply referenced the recommended oil that’s in the manual, not the engine bay sticker. You can use whatever oil you prefer. I don’t prefer either of those choices personally.

I use the exact and oil and literally just changed the oil on my VN and my wife's Sonata. Also use OEM filters and the cars run flawlessly. I don't however go past 3500 miles. I'm in south Florida and it gets HOTTT.

Can I do my oil changes without messing with my warranty?
@nprform7 ай бұрын
@@menamesframerate9136 Keep record of your oil changes. Also, I would recommend using the OEM filter for warranty purposes.

@@nprform is the OEM filter sold at places like autozone or do you have to go through the dealer?
@nprform7 ай бұрын
@@menamesframerate9136 You can get it from a dealer or Amazon. I have a link in the video description.

Jack stands will save your life. Never rely on a hydraulic jack. They are designed to lift not hold.

@@DFMurray That is a good point. I do use jack stands too. I may not have said that in the video.

Should NEVER use an impact to remove a drain plug
@nprform8 ай бұрын
Being able to use a regular wrench would be the best. But if you have trouble and you have enough room, use a breaker bar. The drain plug was on so tight and due to my limited room, I chose to use an impact wrench to hit the bolt a single time to break it free.
