Great review and thanks for focusing on the P300, everyone seem obsessed with the P400 and the V8 versions so reviews on the 4 cylinder vehicle are few and the gang at TFL hasn’t helped the reputation of the motor or the vehicle in general.

I enjoyed the P300. Didn’t the TFL guys actually buy theirs?
@gssd1242 жыл бұрын
I think part of TFL guy's problem with the check engine light was they didn't properly break in the engine. They immediately went off-roading and the manual says not to. there are instructions on how to break in the engine the first 3K miles
@jaldeborgh2 жыл бұрын
@@gssd124 I’d be interested to hear what Land Rover ultimately found to be the problem. Seems like the dealership that TFL was using hadn’t anyone capable of finding and fixing the problem. When the proposed solution is swap out the brand new engine you know you’re at the wrong place.
@gssd1242 жыл бұрын
@@jaldeborgh yes I was thinking the same the expertise wasn’t there at the dealership. Again they may have worked the engine a bit hard before the break in period as well

I love the way it hinges. When you need to quickly pull off the highway to grab something, the gate is not swinging into traffic. Also when offroad ( yes many Defender owners actually take them hardcore offroading), again, much easier to get recovery gear, whatever out of, as you're not having to walk around the gate while it's open. The smaller brakes are also better, as you can get the 18" wheels. With the P400 you need to change out the rear calipers in order to drop to the 18 inch wheels.

Thank you for this great review. You just may have saved me $7000 U.S. on ordering a P300 rather than the P400. Truly appreciate your time and input.

What a great looking vehicle. I think I prefer the six cylinder. Beautiful scenery on the drive. I get it in white to match that gorgeous snow and ice.

I've watched countless reviews on the Defender and you're the only one I've seen that has addressed the tailgate hinge design (but granted, some of the reviews were from the UK), I started thinking "...am I the only one that thinks this is annoying??", then I noticed the new Ford Bronco's gate hinges on the right side as well and thought there must be a reason behind this, maybe only hardcore offroaders understand. I'm glad I'm not the only one that finds this annoying.

I live in a big city, so it's annoying AF to me!

The Bronco, Jeep, Lexus GX, and others swing the same way as the Defender. I struggle to think of a rig that doesn't open that way. Its funny so many people notice this on the Defender but not all of those vehicles.

Wonderful review. Clear and efficient. It looks like you’re driving in my neck of the woods. God bless Ontario. I’m considering the idea of getting a 2 or 3 year old used Defender. Would the noted reliability issues concern you?

MY2023 now comes without full digital cluster and smaller Pivi screen. HUD & Clearsight rear view mirror no longer an option. I know many manufacturers are facing the same chip/parts shortage problem. But LR seems to be the most hard hit. Plus, I am not very happy with them not adjusting the MSRP accordingly. Instead, they bumped up the base price by 2-3% every year since launch. Maybe those who can afford don't really mind though.

which interior did you choose? It looks like the all leather seat with out frabric.

Not even a slight chance I'd get one of these with a 4 cilinder....this vehicle is far too heavy for a 4banger and you won't be able to tow much, if anything at all. Go with the V6, which is an amazing motor, it's not much of a price increase and you'll increase usability across the board.
@BrianMakse2 жыл бұрын
I genuinely didn't mind the 4, but the V8...that was fun.

@@DJ_Vaporiser Clearly you haven't. I typed V6 and it was obviously a typo. Only fools don't believe someone can type the wrong number. Either way, a V6 or a V8 is the only thing you should ever choose with one of these. And yes, I have driven both and stick by what I wrote. Maybe you should go drive them before commenting stud?

@@8654ZuluFoxtrot Obviously you know nothing about vehicles. Do you realize that 80,000 pound tractor-trailer rigs used to have less power than the four cylinder engine in the Defender?
