Averaging 4.5 l/100 kms on my 22 ES300H (calc at the bowser not by trip comp). Seen as low as 3.1 on a highway trip with lots of road works slowing things down. Spends a surprising amout of time with the petrol engine off.

Great value in my country. Comes standard with actual luxury, unlike German "premium" cars. Full power seats, power steering column, leather, sunroof, adaptive cruise etc.

When did you last sit in a German car? Or where are you from?
@cytrynowy_melon6604
@cytrynowy_melon6604 Жыл бұрын
@@nessuno5403 He means standard equipment. With the German car, if you want to have all options, you have to pay almost the double what you pay for comparable Lexus. Lexus is even better in some cases despite being cheaper, because it has better interior quality and better sound deadening than German cars from the same segment. Even the handling is good, it's no longer as floaty as in older Lexus cars, it's confident enough and only slightly worse than German cars. The only true downside of Lexus is when it comes to overtaking, then CVT has its lag which might be irritating if you don't have much space to overtake. City driving is still quick enough though, because electric motors have enough power at low speeds.
@nessuno5403

@@cytrynowy_melon6604 I don't fully agree with all you said because, for example, German cars are just as well equipped depending on which market you are from. The Japanese are or were higher quality, but that's debatable nowadays. Dynamically, they have improved a lot, but the Europeans still reign.
@AI-qd4vb
@AI-qd4vb Ай бұрын
@@cytrynowy_melon6604 Lexus doesnt have better interior quality. Those are misconceptions from comparing base german models with cloth seats and glossy plastics with base japanese cars which where indeed better equiped. If your doing a tit for tat comparison, theres simply no comparison. The japanese have never been more silent than the germans, lol. Take any german saloon on an autobahn at 160 kmh or more and compare it to something like a Lexus GS or this ES. Autogeful has done it and theres no comparison. The Lexus are way worse at dampening. Then there is not only the drive quality that sucks at Lexus, the ride quality is nowhere near the Germans either. Once again, an E class damps every road imperfection like a champ at any speed while keeping the car composed and safe. The GS, IS and ES, all have problems at dealing with potholes and ondulated surfaces at above 120kmh. You feel every road vibration on the cabin and seat. This 2 things, drive and ride quality are pretty much the defining factors of luxury, not the leather on the seats, and in both cases the germans stomps the Lexus, which is nowadays the only high end representative of japanese luxury. Infiniti is dead pretty much and Acura are jokes.

this thinking has made you waste your life on boring stuff. It is also a very lazy way of thinking. You could have done a bit of research and find plenty of highly reliable euro cars, that offer way more than this prehistoric pieces of engineering.

That’s the main issue with this car. It feels too similar to drive to a top trim Camry SL Hybrid that can be negotiated to high $40k not $80k. At this price, people want the kind of engine you get with a 330i, not a Camry hybrid taxi. And long term reliability is more of a concern for everyday buyers holding onto a car for a decade than a leased luxury car. The driving experience matters more then.

@@User-cb4jm big diff in $ FROM CAMRY TO ES. not in Canada though, top spec camry 54 k otr ,however , can't get it off the lot , short supply. I bought es top spec hybrid 73 k otr. well worth it for me. Bmw 330, much faster car but having visited Australia I can tell you one thing, I have never seen a place driving so slow. religiously obeying speed limit. 100- 110 was it. In Ontario speed limit is also 100-110 but 120 130 speed is the norm. having those speed limits I went with es h over 330 and no regrets.

I wonder why acceleration is in recent years so important for many ? These cars are not sport cars even if sometimes called so. Why make "performance" narrative for public road cars ? Public road is not Nurburgring

CVT, smallish naturally aspirated 4 cylinder, front wheel drive, but as heavy as a Mercedes S class from 20 years ago but is smaller in size, hybrid complexity but still slow to 60 km/h, slow to 100km/h... we have a winner here folks. Run and get these while stocks last. Even if you take away the hybrid and add 10 extra litres of fuel consumption per 100km, it'll cost just AUD 2000 per 10000km/annum.

It’s the same engine as on a Camry Hybrid taxi, I don’t know how people settle for a $30k driving experience at $80k - sure it’s wrapped in chrome and glitz, but you’d at least expect effortless quiet acceleration at this price.

@Lexus IS300H way more expensive and still lackluster acceleration we are talking >6 seconds to 100, and acceleration gets worse at higher speeds due to electric propulsion. Other plugins at that price do way better let alone full EVs

@@Sha-Ayo Actually, because of the Power Split Device, Toyota/Lexus Hybrids have their maximum power after 100km/h. They are slow from a start but quite fast at medium to high speeds. It has the same 60-110 acceleration as a Volvo V60 Cross Country 2.0 Turbo with 250hp :) and it is faster than a 2.5 Turbo Mazda CX-5 with a higher trap speed after 402m.

@@Eugen-E That is true for all out acceleration but in short spontaneous bursts the hybrid is more nimble because he can shift down quickly and has an additional electrical punch. In daily driving this is a more relevant aspect than those "long" drag races. This is true at low speed especially.
