The 2022 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing ($121,178 CAD as specced, $111,935 USD) has all the goodies of an automotive generation that is on the brink of extinction. It comes standard with a manual transmission (with a 10-speed auto available), a supercharged V8 with a massive 6.2 L displacement, and is on the same chassis platform as the current-gen Camaro; the Alpha II platform. When put together and coupled with an electronic LSD in the rear, the CT5-V Blackwing should make for a riotous driving experience, all while making a deliciously raucous noise. What do Thomas and James have to say about this gas-guzzling hooligan? Watch to find out! SUBSCRIBE!

Top Gear level hyping a car without really explaining the fundamentals either. Like saying it understeers, but failing to mention that's because they cheaped out on the MacPherson struts. The M5 uses much more sophisticated double-wishbone suspension. Calling a strut-front/multi-rear a "fundamental sports car chassis" is just plain stupid. It's a luxury sedan with a heavy engine at the front that overpowers the front suspension and washes out. Because no matter how well you dampen a strut front, it's always a trade off. You spring it too soft, it will travel too far and change the camber angle (meaning your tire angle changes and you lose grip). Or you spring it too hard and every bump will upset the front. Which is why you go for double wishbone, as that will retain the wheel alignment even if the spring/damper is compliant. Sure you can have fun, but it's not meant to be a sports car, which is why GM knows not to put it up against an M5. Because it would mop the floor with this boat.

@@bigtuna1 no I meant the reason it came back with any relevance. It was the best handling out of the 3 because it was based on the Vauxhall monaro (so was the Pontiac GTO), the Pontiac G8 was a near carbon copy of the Vauxhall vxr8, and the Chevy SS is the same thing considering the newer Vauxhall vxr8. The only reason these cars were good is because they used the chassis and technology already implemented by the Australians. That's what I meant if anything i said was misconstrued.

James is right about the visibility problem with the Camaro, I recently sold mine and one of the big reasons was I was sick of not being able to see anything, in the city it just makes every drive stressful.

GM really should have put the rear-camera mirror in the Camaro years ago (my son had a '17 Camaro and couldn't see out of it but he replaced it with a C7 Grand Sport with the rear-camera mirror and it makes a huge difference.)

Gosh this is the 2nd review I've seen for this car, and in both reviews the driver couldn't stop saying how much fun the car is, and it's more fun than just about anything above or below it, because of the manual transmission, rear wheel drive, and the beautiful sounding engine. See the "Hagerty" KZbin channel review on it, which is similarly amazing. That's a ton of torque, an insane amount of torque, at really low RPM's. Torque is what makes vehicles addicting to drive, and what makes them never get old or boring. Torque keeps you smiling. I read a story of a guy who rode a Hayabusa one time, and immediately sold his V-Rod Harley and went and bought the Hayabusa, because the Hayabusa had so much low end torque on the street. Superchargers don't have turbo lag, because the supercharger is directly connected to the crankshaft via a belt, and so the boost is always there, right off idle. I heard that they are going to stop making this Caddillac and start making electric vehicles, and that seriously hurts. It's a horrendous gut wrenching pain, knowing that when most car companies finally master the gasoline engine to perfection, they decide to stop making them. Nooooooooooo. Getting rid of combustion engines seems like a terrible idea, because there are ways to make engines much, much cleaner burning - there are patents which can transform a gasoline engine by orders of magnitude, if only they would release the patents.
