The difference between the IS500 brakes and RCF Brembos would be brake fade in high temperature on track situations, which would only really be reached in 10/10ths driving situations. Car and Driver lapped the IS500 faster than the RCF on their Lightning Lap, which is a 3 minute course. So it's brakes are definitely up to the task. that is true, but people that buy 100k m3s, dont care about reliability because they wont keep it for long, they want the latest engineering, technology, power, ect. this Lexus engine been around since 2007 ISF, and is pretty much bulletproof but super outdated. If you look at the past 10 years of an M3, how much changes engineering went into it, is crazy. Went from v8 414hp , to inline 6 425hp, to 500hp. m3 comp does 0-60 in like 3.2 seconds. Thats one thing about BMW, they are no reliable, and not cheap, but you are paying for that engineering.

Lexus always seems to make cars that would've been hailed as pretty great...several years ago. The commercials showing the passion and fun, when the highest spec you usually see is an IS350 and even that is rare compared to a sea of IS200t, 250 and 300t's. I appreciate Lexus to an extent, but I've come away disappointed from most I drove. They're fine cars for casual driving, a luxury car for those who aren't car people. The actual F cars are even in themselves underwhelming, relying more on a mix of "More reliable than a German car!" to make up for their high cost but performance that doesn't even match a common Camaro SS or Mustang GT (That said German cars are often equal to in performance while maintaining their luxury). But once you get a taste of what is possible, it's like tasting a cheap grocery store cake after having a slice from a Michelin star restaurant. It's a shallow substitute for what you long for. Luxury always dated, performance always behind. But just like that grocery store cake, every week it's there for you. It tries its best, but it wins no awards - but you can't afford the alternative, so it's the more palatable alternative to buying store brand cookies instead.

Something tells me you haven't spend enough time with a Lexus to fall in love with it, and that's coming from someone who also drives a Mercedes. You can have all the flashy and gimmicky bits in a Mercedes, but it will never feel as mature and well-built on the inside as a Lexus. I like both of them and definitely wouldn't put one of the two behind the other in ratings. They both have their pros and cons.
@jbrandon3022 жыл бұрын
This is the best explanation of lexus sports sedans I’ve heard. They are just “ok” never doing anything exceptionally well. Never the most luxurious, never the quickest or the fastest. Never the best looking. Just reliable. A known quantity. After driving an is300 f sport before I bought my current car, I finally understood why the magazines were always underwhelmed by these cars.
@l2xsniper12 жыл бұрын
The Lexus CEO even said in a statement conveying he doesn't want Lexus to be the "boring" brand. Yet its already been several years since he said that and the only thing Lexus has to show for it is this outdated 2010 styled IS500. Meanwhile the German brands all have brought out updated versions in the past couple years of their sport variations.

Seiko 5 series and Orient are probably the best bang for the buck mechanical watches on the market right now.
@konyina2 жыл бұрын
@@bucknasty69 Orient is currently the go to. Since the Discontinuation of the SKX, there hadn't really been a reason to buy a Seiko Diver-style watch, as the Ray 2 and the Kamasu were as good mechanically, and featured a much needed 20 bar water resistance rating. With the addition of the Kamasu 2, which has a standard diver cipher, like the one featured on the Ray 2, but also has a sapphire crystal like the og Kamasu, it really is the only sub 250$ mechanical diver watch you should buy. Also, the Orient Bambino is a fantastic line of beautiful automatic dress watches under 200$. They really give the Seiko Cocktail Time (which is twice as expensive) a run for it's money lookwise.
@bucknasty692 жыл бұрын
@@konyina I had no idea Seiko discontinued the SKX. I was going to get one, but the Orient Kamasu looks really nice, especially for the price. The amount of features they pack in a $250 watch is mind blowing.

@@bucknasty69 Yeah, just remember, the Ray I, II and the Kamasu I, II are all diver style watches, not real divers. Even thought they're all rated at 20 bar water resistant, they're not as watertight as the SKX was, nor are they tested as the SKX was. However, they're still a better pick than the S5 Sports series. I've got a Ray II. The mineral is shit, and the bracelet isn't really the best, but I've got it for 120$, so I don't really care about those nitpicks.

A 4-Cyliinder Camry, speaking from experience, does not like long distances and will eventually wear on you after a gallon of gas is consumed. A used 3-Series comes with mysterious electrical problems that somehow never, ever go away, and a strange smell that's equally persistent. The Camry 6SM is as you said, rare, and is even worse for Toyota nerds giving you shit for those same reasons. Electric cars still aren't there yet for a lot of reasons but are being pushed there like a couple who price their son out of living at home even though he's trapped in a dead-end retail job and has no hope of making rent anywhere. And I still wouldn't have one because the IS in general, regardless of engine, has been the calling card of tryhards, even more than that weird-smelling BMW, who wish to look like go-getters to both girls and their bosses but never quite know when to quit; they are the calling card of the Corporate Bro, who may have grown out of popped collars and Natty Ice, but only as far as Kohl's 3-piece suits and Bud Light despite having the means, and perhaps the need, to go further. Much like Lexus' current droop-quality interior, "good enough" is never good enough; it just means coasting. Perhaps we shouldn't think this way, but perhaps we also shouldn't be punishing people that want to drive and enjoy it by railroading them into poor decisions for nefarious business reasons cosplaying as popular environmentalism, or designing the world around the scourge of smartphones, or forcing a kid to move out on principle even though he can't afford it.
