They dislike for Albon in this community is insane. Dude puts the slowest car on the grid infront of better cars every single weekend and outperforms Latifi every single weekend. Yet a huge part of the fans give him C/D/E for good performances... When George pulled the same gap to Latifi, he got A/B rating. edit1: This weekend: 33% C and 13% D and 5% E and F. edit2: seriously he get an insane amount of D/E/F every single weekend even when he beats his team mate and end up around P12.

I wonder if always being in front all those years, with both cars too, made them incapable, or at least it's more difficult for them, to GET in front with their strategies. In addition it looks like they're stuck in 2021 where track position was key, especially for them when they didn't want to pass Verstappen on track. The racing IS much better this year and track position isn't as important as it used to be last year. But Mercedes are still favoring waiting things out and keeping track position. Everyone's talking about how it was the right strategy for Ham. Why didn't they go long with him? Why not put him on softs to the end, like Russel wanted to? Still looking like a bit of a plunder to me... They should at least risk sth, if they want to get that win in 2022.

@@RainbowColouredNight that's definitely a factor, being in front and way ahead all the time takes away so much pressure and you have more options and more time to think... 2021 showed they can run a race and be good at it, by they still can't take risky moves or even listen to their drivers. their strategy calls feel more computer generated and they stick with it even when they still have some time to recover...

It wasn't just Mercedes that did same strategy. Pirelli told all the teams like they do every race what is the fastest tiers for what stint and the best results from what compounds to run. Pirelli even said after the race the tires durability compound they got it wrong. Pirelli told all the teams how many laps each tyre compound should last and they all lasted longer then what they should of as the makeup of each compound was not falling apart. The medium tyres was not meant to last that long and didn't grain. Did Mercedes get it wrong of was all the teams given the wrong information Pirelli was even telling the teams During the race that medium should go off soon and that'why Mercedes didn't change the strategy? Now should Pirelli be giving teams information any way and red bull is the only team who never gone by what Pirelli has told them and that's why it's gone right for them and wrong when they pushed the tyers to long and blown them out.
@bynahelemaal
@bynahelemaal Жыл бұрын
@@chriscollins550 and yet rbr have rarely had tire failures ruin a race (for both cars), whereas merc had that run of multiple races where their tires either grained early or blew out in 2020, after which toto pressured pirelli, pirelli asked fia for less downforce and foa made the new ‘21 floor regs! Merc’s just shit at strategy and relies to heavily on projected analyses from their own computers while they have LH44 in they’re car telling them otherwise… Okay sure hamilton is usually more reactive than proactive, letting pitstops happen and then complain about choices made after, whereas russell this year shown to be more assertive and demand a pitstop, but still in certain cases hamilton has made his wants and needs clear pre race and merc still chose to go with simulations over driver feedback. Rbr are also the type to split strategies with tyres, which then gives way for conspiracy theories of favoring, but still those split choices have paid off more often than not, while merc is quite conservative, opting with both drivers on the same tires.

Very much agreed. Verstappen's amount of wins this seasons distorts the dominance of his car. It is dominant, certainly in the last half of the season, but not as much as the stats suggest. It's just that the combination car + max + team all add up to something unbeatable. If it was only the car, his teammate would have been much closer, or at least in front of the rest most of the times, instead of struggling to get p2 in de wdc with hundreds of points to nr1. That's no scold on Checo, who is doing an admirable job, considering all of Max' other former teammates. It's just tough being Max teammate. Those are his own words. I hope he will be able to step up next year, but I would be extremely surprised if it would be enough to beat Max. But there is no shame in that.

Well even though I‘m a Max fan and think he‘s already better than Hamilton ever was in his defence Hamilton was up against Rosberg between 14-16. Winning 13+ races against him would be hard for any driver in the same car, even though the Merc between 14-16 was by far the best car on basically every track. The seasons where you can blame Hamilton for not getting more than 11 wins are 2019 and 20 where these Mercs were also more dominant than the RB18 yet Hamilton only won 11 races each and got beaten on merit by Bottas a couple of races each year.

'that guy' from the notebook clearly intended to stir things up with his cheeky storytelling and deliberately disrespecting Max and Red Bull. And not for the first time, because even in interviews he tends to give cheeky pokes. It's a shame that this happens, because this is the MAIN reason we have now boing audience on many grand prix, which was never the case in F1 - not even mentioning the online situation. Sky needs to step up and change this mentality within there show, because this only will get worse.

No, the main reason we have toxicity is because of Horner as soon as he accused Hamilton of debility taking Max out (which if true, really would show he is the GOAT to pull off an impossible stunt). This lead to huge amount of racist abuse towards Lewis which Horner could barely bring himself to condemn what he started. Unfortunately, as we have seen in a few races this year, there is an issue with the orange army in their abuse of staff, especially women. It all started with this horrible fanbase which F1 manufactured to look good on TV but has now gotten out of hand. Ted spoke facts, not disrespect. If facts are now disrespectful, then we are in strange times. Max and Horner need to grow a pair.

You are spot on, there didn’t used to be disrespect in F1. The reasons are many fold I believe but the following are big contributors; 1: when Liberty took over from Ecclestone, the focus became making the drivers not the teams/cars the star - long time F1 fans tend to follow a team first, many newer fans idolised a driver 2: shows like DtS took race & interview content out of context to create fictional drama to fans who thought what they were seeing was real 3: Liberty, broadcasters & team bosses saw the drama DtS created brought more fans into the sport so more drama was created (Horner/Woolf weekly hype) 4: online forums filled with fans now divided into one driver camp or another and online abuse started 5: Sky sees their new audience is made up of rabid toxic fans looking to be outraged on a weekly basis and people like Kravitz oblige. In short we get the media we deserve. If you want to stop someone like Sky being unprofessional, look in the mirror and ask yourself honestly are you encouraging them by contributing online in disrespecting a driver or team. If yes, then how about applying the old adage, “if you can’t say something nice about someone, don’t say anything at all”

When Red Bull makes a strategy mistake, it haunts them to their bones. Think back to last year I think it was Portugal where they said it might be hungary all over again. Ferrari and Mercedes have made enough strategy mistakes. It would be hard for them to reference a particular one like that.

that would be stupid. Mercedes thought that RB would do a 2 stopper. Max extended the red tyre for a few extra rounds and the yellows was working fine. Wrong decision by Merc. If George put the reds on then it was possible to come in front of HAM. Merc wouldn't allow that.

If I want to see cars going slow, I'll join a traffic jam on the motorway From my experience at a race (Austria a few years back), the coolest corner to watch was the second to last from behind, seeing how the cars shoot through in 5th/6th gear, rear sliding, that was something you don't grasp in TV. I understand the argument of "seeing the cars longer", with the right track layout (&surroundings/elevations, can't be done everywhere, I know), you can also manage to do that without slow micky mouse section's. At red bull ring sitting anywhere between turn 1 and the Infield section, you're able to see the cars everywhere on track besides the last 2 corners & the start/finish straight. Seeing them flying around in the distance is still more interesting to me than seeing them going past in 1st or 2nd gear in a Micky mouse section

I don't get the slander against the Circuit as much. Sure there could be some changes made to allow better racing but the biggest issue is by FAR the altitude of the race track. It's not like cars were really close to each other. The problem is if you don't overtake the slower car in front of you within few laps your car will overheat (and you have to fall back to 1,5-2sec) and you even see it on the straight where they drive like they are searching for wet patches when tyres start overheating in wet races.

I keep remembering years where the Mercs were 1-2 just about every race unless Max could upset things and get in second. Given where Checo has ended up most races, is it really a dominant Red Bull or a dominant Max?
@renegerritsen6178
@renegerritsen6178 Жыл бұрын
It is both. Red Bull focus their attention on Max, which is fair, as he is the faster driver of the two. It is just sad that Checo cannot be faster with such a pointy car. I think that teams should not look for the best drivers, but for the best combination of drivers. If you match driving styles, you don't get cases like Checo and Ricciardo: drivers who are not happy with the way their car handles, but since they are 2nd drivers, they have to live with it as the 1st driver defines the development route.
