I have not ridden the other sled in this list but my experience riding the lynx was ‘’what is this thing ! It like riding a very powerfull dirt bike’’ and the first 15 minutes of riding i was just smiling and laughing in my helmet😂. I was having fun a lot of fun. I was just swapping from a renegade xrs and a Machz. It is a close call between the z and the Lynx but i would pick the lynx for versatility and bad trail condition prowess. A nice surprise for me getting back into snowmobile after a long break. I think the Rave re brings back playfulness and fun not only top speed and technology. It also show that very very good shock package can make a big difference on a sled and those KYB are something else. Great season guys i really enjoyed the content.

I can't imagine expecting any more out of a sled than I can get from my 22 Switchback Assault 850...when it isn't in the shop for a throttle recall or in the shop for a bad exhaust temperature sensor that never came in...anyway...it was the most spectacular 350 miles I have ever ridden😂 So, 2022 was a frustrating year. Sleds backordered all over the place, parts backordered all over the place, service departments struggling to keep up, and crappy snow conditions in many areas nationwide...regardless of what manufacturer you prefer, I think we can all agree that we are looking forward to a better 2023!

I have also owned Polaris sleds and they always had issues to so decided to switch over to ski doo and just gas and go no issues at all will never go back to Polaris no matter how good they handle. I had an amazing year on my 1981 Yamaha Excel lol - I miss fast sleds but I don't miss spending money on fast sleds...or breaking them. Plus - everybody stops to talk about and share stories about classic sleds. I trail ride with friends on new stuff and no I can't keep up at all - but their helmets are worth more than my entire year riding! I am also looking forward to 2023 :)

I bought my first Ski-Doo since 1998 in 2022. Bought it for the wife, but after I rode it at about 35% left on the break in meter, I was shocked at how good the sled was. Coming off a Pro-S 800 & 600. So now the Pro-S 6 will be for sale next fall, because I spring ordered a '23 Blizzard with the clickers. Never thought in a million years I'd be off Polaris in 2022, but these new Gen 4, Ras-X chassis are just amazing. Wife thinks its the best sled she ever had, and I thought the Pro-S was good, but here I am committed to two new Doo's. Truth be told I would have bought a new Polaris this year, but I literally couldn't find one after we sold the 2016 Pro-S 800. Looked all over and couldn't find what I wanted anywhere, so Doo took my order, and damned if they didn't deliver a new 2022 in mid January. I'd say BRP will see their market share go up another 5-6 points after this season, with all the delivery issues Polaris had.

Great video again. I own a 19 SBA. Love it. But I'm not brand loyal and neither is ST. Fanboys will always complain regardless who wins. The competition between Polaris and skidoo (lynx) is only making the products better. Pick what appeals to your riding style and enjoy it. ST will hopefully be there helping us make that decision. Love the way you see how much he enjoyed that sled. Best snowmobile show hands down.

Since this award video sort of represents the end of a season for you I'll put my thoughts here: IMHO the 2022 season was the absolute best in SnowTrax history. You guys were back to just having a ton of fun making videos and gave us (the hard core riders) the info we so badly crave. You represented all brands as well as you could have. You didn't pull any punches, yet didn't get unnecessarily confrontational with your viewers (like perhaps has happened a tiny bit in seasons past). You were creative (ie having a teen do a Venom video). You had the best walkaround videos ever. Well done everyone on staff. Thanks for being a part of an amazing sledding season.

I just found a relatively unbeat 2004 ZR900 for $1400. Pretty sure she will be my main squeeze next season. I rode a $250 (total investment) 2002 MXZ600 this year. Goes fantastic, studded, even has the button reverse with the beep-beep warning. I will have shock tech produce 3 new fox rebuildables over the summer. In 5 years I will register it antique for life for $65. Anyone who pays $22k or even more(!) is just burning money that could be earning money. Spend $6k off season on a 5 year old sled and invest the $16k+ for your kids future. Preaching session over.

Where if I continuously trade up and break even I never lose money and to be honest I wouldn't be able to afford this crazy sport if I lost money every year on the sled. Very good video! Good on the context I think too many people buy the "high" end sleds and complain they are too stiff or something along those lines. XCR, Rave RE, and XRS sleds should be for aggressive riders. If you want a Cadillac then buy something like the Enduro. Next season I like what skidoo is finally doing in the MXZ line up, the Blizzard comes with a good shock pkg and features which many trail riders should buy. My self and ride buddies if we buy a non mtn sled it's usually a Race sled as normally the XRS sleds are so watered down they don't told up to our style of riding which is get air born. The Rave is probably the first in season sled I'll buy that's shorter than a 146.

That sounds so funny. Lynx having the largest (only) snowmobile factory in Europe their sleds are also largerly developed here so it would make sense that the name stuck, but propably not. Marketing name that obviously you cant take seriosly and for shure i cant! HAHA! Great sled though, built for riders who like to stay away from the lake ice and really give it a go. It’d be nice if you did some additional behind the scenes videos of all the sleds in your fleet if possible. Did you leave them at the factory settings or adjust the springs and clickers? Also, do you suggest any aftermarket accessories that could address any shortcomings? There’s customers out there for all these sleds and just because theirs didn’t win the shootout doesn’t mean it’s a bad sled. Maybe some adjustments and accessories would make their riding experience much better. I know I wouldn’t complain about you putting out more content.

We evaluate sleds in stock form. Modifying them would be unfair. However, there ARE things you can do to each of them to make them better, yes. With that said, we NEED to keep them as stock as possible (save for adjusting the suspension) so that our opinions are accurate based on how the customer will pick the sled up.

I would love to see you guys compare the RAVE to a switchback assault. I know Polaris sends this set up pretty trail bias, but I would bet the set up I have on my Assault would rival the RAVE, but be a little more big pump limited. Basically, I loosened the limiter strap on my assault and put some weight on the skis through pre-load on the skis and front arm. It wheelies on demand and still handles like a razor blade. Sure, can't hammer some of the big mogals the RAVE probably can, but I can go places off trail the RAVE can't and definitely with more control. Would love to see you guys spend some time on an Assault next winter and really put some time into the setup.... which is probably it's only draw back, time it takes to set up for you.

I own a 21 850 Assault and did a lot of setup work to make it as good as possible for me. Then put 350 miles on a preproduction 2023 Lynx XTerrain. Immediately listed my Assault on FB and spring ordered an XTerrain. For a guy at 190 lbs it's better than the Assault in deep snow, big bumps, and so much more playful and flickable. It also gives up nothing in trail handling. Ski-doo's G4 Renegade's and Backcountry's just never worked for me but the Lynx XTerrain is a completely different beast.

But in Finland trail's are mostly narrow, curvy and bumpy. Like real bumpy, riders heartbeat at max and out of air. That's where Lynx is the king, and power is less essential. I know it's been over a week since you commented, but if your friend on the Rave was struggling to keep up and hasn't messed with the sled setup at all then he's really missing out. Some suspension changes and getting everything to "fit" him really changes how the Rave works. I rode my Rave for around 1k miles with minimal adjustments and thought it was pretty good but had plenty of room for improvement, finally took the time to change the rear suspension around and what a difference. The next 600mi I put on it after suspension adjustments went by like nothing. The way the Rave is, the wrong suspension setup and someone not feeling comfortable on the sled can make it about the worst trail sled anyone has been on. Once you get it dialed in though, you want the rough stuff because nothing else can compare. Jumps, bumps, whoops, etc all become a riot vs a hazard if you're on a sled with bad suspension or an improper setup.

Our whole suspension philosophy makes no sense,if the trails are beautiful and groomed what difference does the suspension make right? The only time we worry about suspension tuning is when the trails get rough right? So why would we ever really need a soft plush suspension? It makes no sense,I would rather have the stiff suspension that will be of no consequence on smooth trails because" The trails are smooth" and than your suspension is ready and waiting for the trails in the afternoon to get rutted up right?🤔🤔🤔
