Just installed the bushing insert and the sway bar reinforcement brackets on my 2022 OBW. Everything went great (remember to support the tranny with a jack) and I easily did it without a lift since there so much room under the Wilderness! Brackets look super cool in powder coated black and the bushing DOES make the "auto start" smoother, less jumpy! Excellent products ADF, keep em coming!

Great video and great products!!! The transmission mount insert is a easily over look modification but so necessary (in my opinion Also the Carrier bearing Spacer) Even more so after a lift. Thank you for your time and energy that you put in to designing these great products 👍🏼

I removed the bolts to the heatshield, placed a jack under the transmission, gave it a few pumps to push the transmission slightly up, maybe about 1in, and pushed the bushing in. I did not have to remove all the bolts or the mount itself.

what type of "feeling" would be present for someone to want to install the carrier bearing spacer bolt kit? also, why do some cars need the trans mount insert and some don't after install?
@theadfcrew14312 жыл бұрын
A carrier bearing would be more of a fast vibration. Every car is a little different there really isn’t a reason why some do and some donot
@madmattsubieman98072 жыл бұрын
Usually when the car has a lift it is when you get the vibration. Our crosstrek has 2 inch lift and does it around 15mph . We have the insert but yet to install. Will be installing a 2 inch on our wilderness outback and also will be getting one for that.
@51249ca2 жыл бұрын
@@madmattsubieman9807 mine is pretty bad. First initial throttle input up to say 20mph, then again at low speed if you go on/off the throttle. Surprised more lifted cars don't get it, or are they doing something that I am not aware of.

Hey @THE ADF CREW- I love your guys' stuff on my SH Forester. Went to throw in the carrier bearing spacer and this anti-wobble insert and the bearing spacer went in like a dream! Just received the Anti Wobble from you guys. If installing myself (no lift) do I need to apply upward pressure to the tranny or is that only when the car is lifted since the wheels are off the ground? I could use the jack to apply pressure, just curious if it's necessary to do so.
@theadfcrew14312 жыл бұрын
Yes apply upward pressure with a Jack so the tranny dose not drop too far as at that point just the engine mounts are holding the trans in

I got my OBW this past June. I told the salesman that I want it on the rack so I can check out the undercarriage. He told me that he has not done that before in 30 years, I told him that is until today. I checked the undercarriage thoroughly. The Transmission Does Have The Bushing. When you go to pickup your OBW tell the Salesman to have the OBW on a rack so you can check it out. You will be surprised at what you see.

@@theadfcrew1431 I bought it brand new at the Carson City Subaru dealership it had maybe two miles on it . Carson City Subaru is top notch. The look on the salesman 's face when I told him to put it on the rack was Price Less 😂😂😂. I checked out a lot of videos on the OBW since this past January. Then I decided to buy one brand new. By the way I saw another video about hearing a clunk/thud around the rear axle it was a pretty cool video . I went over some speed bumps and low and behold I heard the thud / clunk. I went back to Carson City and told him about it. The mechanic checked everything and could find it. I asked the Service Manager if he would go on a check ride with me ? He said yes . We went over 4 speed bumps the second speed bump we heard the clunk / thud. and again on the 6th speed bump. and heard it again. Went back to the dealership he said it was tie rods I think. But he told me that the parts are on order and will send you an email when to bring it in.

I'm puzzled as to why this is necessary. It almost seems that Subaru intentionally left some wiggle room and I'm wondering why? It certainly would not save any money. Why not put the tighter bushing in at the Factory. I'm puzzled. I'm also wondering if it's really necessary to upgrade it. what are the pro's and con's? I mean obviously beyond the fact that eventually they will wear out. But keep in mind, we are talking Wilderness here and they've only been out for a year. I wouldn't expect problems within a year. I read someone below say that auto start is less jumpy. Well that's a plus if true. I had to durn my alarm sensitivity down because my autostart was setting it off, which also immediately shuts down the engine as well, defeating the whole purpose. After work I never knew if I was gonna walk up to a warm car, or a car who's alarm had been going off for 5 minutes after starting the car remotely with the app. Databyter

I put the soft durometer bushing in on a 2017 3.6r and can definitely feel and hear a decent drone at lower speeds. If you were the average customer, Subaru would have tons of complaints about noise. I would suggest a super soft insert unless you have a lift installed which perhaps the soft might be the best.
