Today, I'm taking the 2022 Suzuki GSXS 1000 for a spin and I have to say, I'm pretty impressed with this bike. From the sleek design to the smooth ride, this bike definitely packs a punch.

I know right. As long as it tells you engine rpm and Mph at a glance....what else do u need? U wanna watch tv do it at home. Not on your motorcycle. I never look at my speedo unless I see a cop. And I can tell u rpm just from sound. Tft is worthless

Strongly Disagree!! If Suzuki bikes that cost LESS have TFT why can’t this??? just 🛑 Making any dash that’s Not TFT. Can’t spend btwn 10k - 20k and already feel and Look like my bike is 3 yrs old as soon as you purchase it. Other companies have TFT on 400cc why can’t they have it on 1000, 750 or 600cc???? ridiculous

The GSX-S1000 has been an amazing value since the 2016 model was introduced at $9999, yet it is often overlooked or totally unknown. I think a lot of people forgot how good the K5/K6 1000 engine actually is. I didn’t buy one then, and I should have, but I’m going to buy one now. I’ve looked at A LOT of new and used motorcycles this year, and for what you’re getting $11,499 is a steal. Look at what else is now in that price range and you might be disappointed.

I have the same bike, got it on January 2024,an excellent bike, despite two things that I hate about it : The speedometer and the knocking sound on a hot start ( don't worry, all Japanese recent bikes have it, and my dealer and community assured me it won't affect the engine performance, it have something to do with the oil pressurising part, once pressurised, the sound goes away) FYI: if you planning for a long trip using the GSX s1000, get a windshield, especially the S2 project item).

Finally you ride the almighty and cheap (relatively speaking for what you get) 2022 GSX-S1000!!! I picked one up last year and just recently had a full Yoshimura R-11 exhaust system put on it and got it tuned. This one mod transformed the bike. It sounds SO AMAZING and the performance is INSANE!!! I also hate the dash, and the suspension is a bit lacking when pushing it hard, but for the price it really can't be beat. Oh, and the bi-directional quick shifter is silky smooth.

Owner of one since early 2022 in black. Such a batman-transformer look. This bike is insane and sounds godlike with a full exhaust. More than enough for the streets and going to the track sometimes (eats 600s EASY). Love it. Totally agree about the screen, could have been TFT dash. Suzuki has no excuse when the GT version has one. I really recommend this one. Also what I want to mention, i don't know if in america will be the same, but in europe OEM parts are really getting expensive and sadly I got in a little fall (plastic scratches and little things) with mine and parts are so cheap because they all come from the gixxer 1000.

That is just a dumb comment. Nearly all its competitors have cruise. The MT-10, MT-09 SP, Ninja 1000 SX. Nearly every bike in this price point has cruise now. Really there is no excuse. It cost $100 for the factory to add it to a bike.

As a Suzuki rider I always say A- awesome mode B- bitch mode C- child safety mode Also, not kidding, that blue under direct sunlight is unlike anything I've seen on even 50k CVOs. I work at a massive powersports dealership so lets just say I've seen my share of nice blue paintjobs. Suzuki stands alone with the insane sparkle and the way it EXPLODES with blue in the sun. I want my SUV painted in it.

You’re right. I have an 06 SV650s with YHJ blue. Suzuki kills it with paint especially that color. So many people riders and not riders compliment the paint. It’s crazy considering it’s not like I’m riding some exotic superbike or whatnot when I got this bike I didn’t anticipate random people coming up to me in gas stations complimenting a 17 year old bike. They should bring back that paint color for the GSX-R 750s.

Totally. I had a T7, and the gearbox was a bag of dicks. Got rid of it, and grabbed a VStrom. Like butter in comparison. I should have stuck with Suzuki after my DR..

Thanks for doing a review on the Gixxess, my dad sold his 2016 one and updated to the new 2022 model in that blue last October. He said the difference to the old model is night and day. I test rode the GT last month and wasn't too keen on the soft spongy rear suspension when it was pushed in the twisties, and the wind noise from the fairing screen was annoying. So what did I do ? I bought a new naked 2022 Gixxes in black. I love it, the only things that annoy me are the dash, not that it's not a TFT, but it's not very intuitive to use, and the down blipper doesn't seem to rev match and feels clunky going down from 3rd to 2nd. Maybe it isn't working properly? It will steer better with a good set of tyres after the original Dunlops are shagged, they aren't the best. But for value for money you just can't beat it. You could buy two Gixxess 1000's for what it cost to buy one KTM Superduke R Evo. But what I have is reliability, and I know I wouldn't be able to ride a Superduke faster than a Gixxess 1000 the road anyway. Keep up the good work over there guys. 👍🇦🇺

This is THE bike for sale right now. The gsxs has always been good but it’s been the naked you forget about unfortunately. But I think this is the best thing available for the money. If the z900 had a twin spar aluminum frame instead of that steel trellis junk and a decent swinging arm it’d be a toss up between them but just on that alone I’d choose the gsxs, not counting the fact it’s got more under the hood. The way the z900 makes it’s power I could deal with it and not miss the 40 hp difference if I liked the chassis more. If I had the money for a new bike this is on my top3 list.

The Z900 delivers usable power as well as the GSX and I prefer the Z seating position and looks. The SE has a better rear shock. Somehow the GSX seems more grown up though... And here tye7 regularly are discounted by stg1000 pounds. USD1,400. Not selling now the GT has arrived...

Nice review. Production, visuals & sound quality are great. I really like this bike, especially for the price but there are inevitably some compromises like the dash. It's not a deal breaker for me personally but I would wait a bit as with the new GSX8S having a 5 inch TFT, this must surely be getting it too very soon.

No negative comments, handles so well, quickshifter up and down is amazing, plenty of power when you need it! And so comfortable to ride. Have ridden 2-3 hours with no breaks and felt fine. Well worth the putchase’. Hope this helps.

I have this bike, love it. I ordered a windshield for it though because the wind really hits you hard on the highway. I also agree the dash is total trash I can hardly see it with my sunvisor on. Also to note the speedometer is out 17% from factory and my Suzuki dealer said that's by design. Not sure how I feel about that but damn it's fun. Waiting for the snow to melt so I can get back out there! I'm up in snowy Manitoba up here in Canada.

I had my mind made up on a used mt10. I only have about 15k to spend and most mt10s i see used are around 12,500 or a little less. The only problem is they are used with about 10k miles and I am sick of buying used things. So, for 11,500 this suzuki seems like a damn good deal. I have always been a suzuki guy anyways. I do love the mt10 and the sound but the suzuki is growing on me quick.

Are these really considered hyper/supernakeds though ? I feel that segment starts around the s1000R and upwards (perhaps even the MT-10) Maybe I am wrong. I am categorizing this bike more with the Honda CB1000R and Old Kawasaki Z1000 as more of these "below 150hp" nakeds. These are just peoples opinions though but I feel from maybe MT-10 to Superduke and Tuono "Supernakeds" and then those +200hp streetfighter, z H2 and MV agusta "Hypernakeds" is more fitting :P

OC: As much as I want that gsxs1k, especially that color way, I’m going to stay waiting. I have a third gen SV and that gets every possible pass for only having abs for technology. There’s no reason why the GSXS1K is lacking the same display as the GSXS1KGT. There’s no excuse for not having cruise control. Once those two things get rectified you can bet your sweet bippy I’ll continue to be a Zuki boi. Either they step it up or MT09 here I come.

Yamaha and Suzuki are catering to different customers, Suzuki can add TFT, Cruise control, Cornering ABS and people would still complain cz it'll cost 2.5k more 20:00 Aprilia Tuono 660 is 100hp, has all those features and costs as much! Yes, dash could've been nicer but I barely look at it!

Had cruise control on my old bike and never used it. I don’t do highways or long straight roads, avoid like the plague as it’s boring as hell. On the twistys you don’t need CC.

OC: I think it be a pass for me too. When I upgraded from my MT07 and before getting my MT09 SP. I gave several other naked bikes a go and they all seemed to lack something. But the lack of cruise control and the underwhelming dash for the GSX 1000 ruled it out as my potential new bike. Also nice surprise to see Heather in the camera car again.

I work at a dealership and I 100% prefer simple dashes. All the electrical and battery drain ussues these new TFT displays cause is absolutely ridiculous. Cruise I understand, but buying a bike just for its dash (unless it has nav) is just pointless to me. Eyes on the road, not on the dash. Hell, I prefer my 2015 GSXR750 dash over the tiny little 3 inch wide TFT on the ZX10R. Nice being simple and effective. Suzukis entire purpose.

@@jordanjoestar8839 Glad you like your bike without a TFT dash. I'm sorry if you thought I ruled the GSX S1000 out just for that. In truth I do like a more up to date dash, but it's never a deal breaker for me. Unless its a simple dash on a bike costing north of 15k or 16k or more, then it's a deal breaker. I rode 6 other bikes before picking the MT09 SP. While looks and performance were pretty close for them all. In the end it was the cruise control. As I ride everyday and commute to work everyday on my bike in some of the worst traffic here stateside when going into Atlanta. Being able to relax and enjoy the ride leaves me in a good mood when I arrive. Plus cruise control on highway rides to get up into the mountains here in Georgia leaves me relaxed to spend the day going up and down Blood mountain.

I don’t consider the GSXS1000, MT10, Streetfighter V2, or CB1000R as hyper nakeds, hyper nakeds are the big boy Streetfighter V4S, M1000R, SDR1290/1390, or Speed Triple RS. They make significantly more power, and are spec’d better. These are more “super” nakeds. 1 step back from the hyper nakeds. Kind of like supercars like an Audi R8, Ferrari 488, or Lamborghini Huracan vs hypercars like the Bugattis, koenigsegg, or any of the extra exotic cars…

The stock tires on the GSX-S1000 are horrible. It’s strange the 2022 naked bike weighs more than my 2019 GSX-S1000FZ. Wait until you put a Moore Mafia tune on that ECM, an exhaust, and an air filter. She comes alive! (The pre 2021 models make about 20 more HP than newer models. Euro 5 is not cool)

The wind is terrible on Suzukis naked bikes. I had a 2015 gsxs750 and sold it within 2 months because of my daily commute being mostly freeway. Amazing city ride though

I have one for 3 years and took it on a 8 hour trip, it worked out well. I did add a windshield it wasn't much, but leaning down helped. I just wished I had throttle control because the long trip made my hand a bit tired. Oh by the way it was pouring rain 🌧️ throughout the entire trip.

My gf yamaha does not want to shift if you stop with 4:th or something. Same on my Honda. Its just how a sequential gearbox works. Not much Suzuki can do about that. I have a TFT on my bike but honestly I could not care less. The Vstrom I had before was fine. What Inlike about Suzuki is that they nail the value for money and delivers a proper sportbike feel. But as for a hypernaked I would get an MT-09. But if I was after a more do it all liter bike I think I would be hapoy with the Suzuki.

I just sold my 2017 GSX-S1000 and never even concidered the new GSX-S for one simple reason: NO CRUISE CONTROL!! How do you not have a CC in this day and age? So i ended up with a 2019 MT-10 for the 2023 season. (The MT-10 is $6000 more in my neck of the woods so for the price of a new GSX-S you get a nice 2nd hand MT-10) Hoping and expecting great things

They need to put a modern TFT screen and make it a 7 inch diagonal. They should do that in 2024 and have it as an upgrade for 2022 and 2023 model years.

I just bought one last week. It's an insane bike to ride and don't find the steering heavy at all. What a fast, nimble beast! I hesitated for months due to lack of cruise control and the horrible dash everyone panned. However I decided to bite the bullet and bought one anyway. I told myself I will try get used to those two shortcomings and I will. Yes the display is TERRIBLE, I mean really BAD! It has a sensor that brightens it when hit by direct sun but goes really dim at all other times. With a dark shield or sunglass, it's very hard to see anything but the speed.

I own a 2024 GSX-S1000 and the display does not have a brightness sensor lmao. It is controlled by up/down steps manually from the menu. You sure you own this bike lol? Youre full of shizzz

Great review as always, thanks. Love the shots from the following car, way better than the 360 camera on a stick. Suzuki gear boxes are very slick. How does the wind compare with your MT10? I have ridden several GSX S750s and with the sloping tank the wind is way worse than other nakeds I have ridden eg the Street Triple, Z900, Honda Rebel 500, CB650. MT09 and Tuono 660 (not really naked). How bad is the GSX S1000 on the highway??

I own a 22 GSX-S1000. Recently did a longer trip with higher speeds (100mph max speed). In my opinion, the wind is fine until around 80 mph. But it really depends on if theres gusts or not. For my use (urban/street riding, twisties and some light multi day touring), I've never had any issues with wind. I did 12 hour + 9 hour ride days back to back and had no issues comfort wise what so ever.
