I am a total Toyota truck fan, and put about 30k miles a year on my 18 Tundra - but if listening to this video is all I knew about Tundras - I would think the 2nd Gen is archaic and drives like a 1940's pickup. Far from it! I have no issues with how my Tundra drives - runs just about as smooth as my father in laws RAM. Not Jittery at all. And dash isnt as "pretty"? C'mon. My 18 CM has all the bells and whistles I need as a truck owner. You sounded like you were being paid by Toyota to upsell the 22....doubt you spent more than an hour in either of these trucks. I will keep my 5.7, and better looking (btw) old school Tundra! The 22 truck will be in the shop a lot more than mine, replacing cameras and all the other electronic gadgets a truck owner doesnt truly need anyway - for $60 and up! Not a 22 hater - the review just didnt sit right with me- Totally my opinion of course.

Toyota is gonna discontinue all of their simple and reliable engines for turbo crap. I am very disappointed as those engines were the reason I loved Toyota so much. I am gonna get a used Tundra with a 5.7 V8. Toyota is killing their simple and reliable engines. They can’t even offer a V8 option like the other manufacturers do, and that is what has turned me away from them the most. Here I was all disappointed that they discontinued the 5.7 V8. I didn’t think it could any worse, but then, they took the 3.5 V6 out of the Highlander for a 4 cylinder that is very noisy and laggy. Great move, Toyota!! Well done! Glad I got a Highlander back in 2019 when they had the V6. For anyone wanting a truck or SUV, I always told them to go with Toyota, but now, I say to stay clear of them because of their new turbo engines. Many people will argue that it is government epa restrictions, but other manufacturers have been able to do it. Honda released a new V6 for the Pilot that meets 2030 regulations and requirements. GM is investing in the next gen V8s. If you wanna no the real reason that Toyota is doing this, it is to cut costs. It is cheaper to build these little turbo engines. Rather than larger displacement engines. They can now mass produce them in very large quantities. lf you want a SUV or truck, stay clear of these little turbo engines. There is no replacement for displacement!! Toyota is about to lose a long loyal customer!!

Still don’t think Toyota did enough here. They are now in line with the competition but they needed to come out ahead in a ground up redesign. Ford, ram, gm gonna leave Toyota in the dust again in 2-3 years while Toyota gonna be exactly the same until 2035. That plus random oversights like no tow hooks and ugly ass chrome on a lot of trims (why are we still putting chrome on trucks in 2022?) Otherwise, solid truck. Also would have liked to be able to pick a better axle ratio for putting bigger tires on in the future. 3.73 or 4.10 but I understand they have the neuter the truck to gain 0.01 mpg.
@joonkwon93032 жыл бұрын
Don't know about other vehicle categories, but trucks are the most associated with the use of chrome. Some truck guys love chrome on their favorite trucks, especially in older demographics. There's also regional preferences - the South for example is where chrome is a big thing, and a lot of Southerners love big giant chrome grilles on the trucks so manufacturers still have to target that market. That being said, I think the placement of chrome on the new Tundra is a big mistake... The chrome moustache that go around the grille in some trims makes the truck look unattractive and busy to the point of being an eyesore. There's probably a better way of using the chrome... Anyways, overall, I think it's a great truck with great design... Just needs some work to be done with exterior design.
