I finally got around to ordering the bits and bobs and installed everything today. What a great job it does. It's incredibly solid. Thanks for the intel. That guy in Greece shipped the bar in 5 days to my house in the US so I wasn't waiting long at all. I ended up getting the mount from a US Ebay seller but it looks to be the same as you used.

DUDE!! This is by far the most simple, and effective mounting system I’ve seen for a GARMIN XT. Nice job posting this. I’m going to order both then get my GARMIN.

Just mounted an XT2 to the Cosmo Bar. However the XT2 comes with a RAM mount type fixture and I had to source a separate bar mount for the Garmin base (e-bay), bit of a pain though the outcome is good. It does not give the option to mount the Garmin in portrait mode but suspect I'll find a solution to that issue in the future if needed. Indeed the XT2. seems excellent but Garmin have been very stingy with mounts and a separate mount is also needed for in-car use.

Yes. You do need to purchase a gps bracket mount to mount the Garmin mount to the Cosmo bar. Not sure what you mean about not being able to mount in portrait, though. It just means that you have to bolt the GPS mount onto your eBay adapter sideways, surely?

@@ADV-Rider-Dude The Mount was an eBay purchase and reasonable price £20. However the holes on the Garmin Mount only line up in landscape orientation, not square as you might expect. I like having the GPS in upright, portrait, orientation as you see more of the route ahead. However that’s personal choice and suspect is due the the cheaper bar Mount. The size of the XT2 screen does kind of make it a non issue though.

Thanks Alan, like others I’ve ordered and fitted the Cosmo bar from Greece. I have a peak designs mount for my phone on it now but may upgrade to the dedicated nav in the future! Thanks again , really helpful! Ride safe dude!

Thanks for pointing out the Cosmo bar. Had the same problem with mounting my mobile (on a RAM mount), but the Cosmo bar is really the best solution so I have the route always in my view while driving. And the bar arrived the very day after ordering it (from Greece to Austria) :O So shoutouts also to Cosmo... Also I'd like to thank you for all your other very informative videos about the Tiger 1200. Really appreciate it and keep up the good work and enjoy your rides with this beautiful bike :)

I have my Garmin on a RAM mount and it is perfect on my 2023 Triumph GT Explorer. I also use the BEELine when I travel local. I have zero issues with each.

Hah! I did the exact same switch. I'm super-disappointed in the Evotech mount for the new 1200 series. Their mount for the 900 series is *so much better*. It mounts to the actual mount points for the TFT, and is very stable. I like the Cosmo bar much better for the 1200. I also added the ingeniously simple GPS lock from MotoPumps to make it that much less likely that someone makes off with my Zumo (and because I hate taking the GPS on and off the mount all the time just to avoid it being stolen).

Hi Alan, you have provided invaluable content. You have provided excellent content of what you have installed on you bike, and I have taken inspiration from your content to install on my bike. I have bought both the Cosmo bar mount for my Triumph Tiger Rally Pro and the 22mm mount. The only different I've done is put the Headsteam Quadlock phone mount on. Currently I am using my phone as a GPS, but I think I'll be buying a Garmin Zumo XT2 to mount like you. On another note, I will be coming up to Queensland (GC) in the end of from 27th August for a week, so if your keen and available, i'd would love to come from a ride with you if you're interested? Thanks very much for your solution Alan,I have just placed my order.As an aside,have you noticed any “slack” or excess backlash in your drivetrain when applying light throttle after coasting or during light acceleration? My bike seems to be quite abrupt when transitioning from closed to open throttle.The bike has only traveled 200kms so it may settle down with time or after the first service. Regards Lex Franks

There is a bit of a clunk if I give sudden throttle in the situations you describe. Nothing I wouldn't expect though. Maybe I am just used to shaft drive bikes after having one for over 10 years now. I usually apply the throttle in a very smooth manner. Yours may be worse than mine so probably best to get it looked at anyhow if you are unsure

I'm waiting for someone to finally do some actual engineering instead of taking the easy way out and making a GPS mount that attaches the way Alan suggested, to the bolts on the frame, rather than the windscreen adjustment. This Cosmo is better than the Evo-Tech, but still has some of the same issues, especially if you prefer the windscreen to be up.

Hey mate. Sorry, but you have lost me with your question. I dont know what you are asking. Can you try again? Maybe you are asking if the GPS and the gps mount move up and down with the screen or if it is in a fixed position? If that is your question then yes, the mount replaces the original screen handle so it all still goes up and down with the screen. I'd love it if someone could develop a mount that can be fixed to the bolts that keep the dashboard in place but I have not seen anything like that yet. That would give a good and solid GPS mount in my opinion

Hey mate. I assume you mean South Africa? If so then I know what you mean. I recently had to send a 10-page document to South Africa. My brother warned me that if I send it via normal post then it would never get there so I had to courier it. It cost me $200 AUD. Crazy. No wonder no overseas vendors want to send anything. If they sent it as normal post they'd be reimbursing most people. I got mine delivered directly from the supplier to my house in a couple of days.

Too high. Too close to me. Too much vibration, especially when the screen is up.

I have the 900 , I think the evotec works differently. Did your evotec mount move with the screen or was static ?

@@ADV-Rider-Dude Found one! The cosmo was easy to buy. I was having a hard time with the other part number (Zumo XT 22 mount). I searched in eBay for “22mm gps mount” found another Chinese company that ships to the USA. Got it for 24.00US shipped! Still made of 6061 aluminum. Got to go!
