@@user-up3vx2hk1q 15.6? What are you smoking? It's ~14.0 and 5.5 stock. 0 to 60 is only slow because of the 6100 red line. With a protune or even a OTS tune sometimes this is raised to 6500 and you can hit 60 and second making it much faster. With an intake exhaust and ethanol E85 tune you can make 400 wheel horsepower and 450 torque and that's being torque limited by the tuner I would know because that is my car. This is a mid-11 second car.

I own a 22 VB as well. It's almost as fast as my old STi, but the VB has much more potential out of the box. 50% beefier rods, pistons, and journals and more, all of which have been redone to make the VB an outstanding tuner car. When you get to 500whp and beyond, a granny swap is recommended. For me, the E85 tune was a good fit, which alone will give a 60hp boost. The E85 is better for the turbo. it keeps it cool n clean. Anyway that's my 2 cents 😂.

Cobb just released the AP too. Tuners have access in 30-60 days. They handle way better than the VA. Respect to that car but this one is so flat compose grippy and confidence inspiring I've never felt anything else like it from a Subaru from all-wheel drive or from a bone stock car at this power level at this price point. This car has and will continue to hurt some feelings on mountain roads.. and that stock let's just wait and see how we can tune it even just a couple mods or stage one or two map.

This is the 2023 WRX? Is this actually a fast car? I own a Jeep but want to get a WRX (my brother has a '21 and tuned it)...I know it's relatively ugly so planning to do cosmetic mods, but I don't want to mess with tuning (until it's past the warranty at least). Is this thing worth it? Manual of course not the automatic

Yea this is the 2022 WRX. Fast is relative. It's faster than the 21 WRX and about as fast as the STi. It's slower than some of its rivals ( GTi and Elantra N) but for the price (30k or base) there's nothing else like it if you want AWD. Take that away and you have more options ( GTi , BRZ, Elantra N, some BMWs).

I have an intake, exhaust, TMIC, protuned on straight e85. 400whp/450ft lbs. Good for high 11's and under high 4 seconds to 60. With just a few bolt ons and a tune on e.

Do you have any precautionary things like upgraded headstuds? I have a 400hp/450tq tune but I'm real weary of using it because of the torque. Ive been staying at 415 and under.

@@HeavyMetalWRX not worried about the motor. More concerned with the trans, CV axles, and of course, the stock clutch. As long as I don't do any full clutch dumps or too many hard launches it's fine. That's what gets ya. I do more of a 75% launch when I wanna go for it. And not a lot of back to back.

I have a 2015 srage 2 tuned by Travis at Snail Performance that makes 301whp/350tq. I also have 2022 bone stock and there is absolutely no comparison. My VA is way faster. I'll do a video. Both cars are mine and in good mechanical condition. Is this guy even pro tuned? Just ordered ETS intake and drunkmann tune for my 22, so after the stock race I'll do one with the 22 modded.

This car is straight up bullied. Hated based on photos. Hated because the SPT exists. Hated because there won't be an STI. Everything you could find online would gripe "slowest WRX ever", "worst", "disaster". And within the community (specifically the children in the 22WRX subreddit) everyone trash talks the SPT as if they have experience, when not a single one has so much as stood next to a GT. (There's a great new video on YT - POV drive GT - and he gripes about the SPT before he moves. Then he drives for 10-15 minutes and slowly begins really liking it and debunking BS about it. The latest - began with Car & Driver, Nov 1, 2022 GT road test - is the GT is actually the faster one. At least two other videos out there state this...one admitting the manual beat the GT only when they launched it extremely hard.

@@Acrimoniousbear1 the fa24 isn't the golden child everyone thinks it is. It's proving quite difficult to tune with worse numbers than the fa20. It doesn't like to rev, besides that it has excessive knock at high rpms under WOT and really high piston temps. It's an SUV motor after all, I don't think the extra 400cc was worth ditching the perfect 86mmx86mm bore and stroke of the fa20. My money would go for a cheap VB 6 speed swap into a VA, since they are the same exact transmission housing and linkage. Sti transmission is a bit overkill. These new 6 speeds are plenty strong if you don't drive like an idiot and can live with cable linkage.

It's ok to have subjective differences. This is how we have so many car styles to choose from. I came from a 21 premium but I've also loved all the previous gen WRX body styles. Objectively it's important to understand that the car and platform are newer and do provide us with more room to grow. I have a few videos of me racing a stock STi and getting ahead. Also recently I tuned my car using the JB4 and am pushing about 315whp with just fuel. Raced my buddies '18 premium who is also tuned at about 310-315 and pulled away. The new drivetrain really is delivering performance like we haven't seen. Once people get past the looks , there is a whole brand new design and driving experience waiting for the curious. I'm just trying to get the word out. I believe in this platform.

I test drove one and had a great time with it. Handling confidence and response in the twisties was great. At no point did i encounter understeer - the nose dug in and the rear rotated nicely. Very flat torque curve for consistent and predictable power. Just a pleasure to drive. And at 12 psi, you better believe that this FA24 set up is going to have massive output. And for those who dont like the stock look, theres definitely going to be aftermarket flares and bumpers available.

My good sir, you misunderstood a lot of things here. First there is no mention of fmic. The VA WRX has an Intake and full turboback. In the US this is considered a stage 2. Racing him was to show the difference between that setup and a STOCK '22 WRX. It is not an ego race or a show off race. It's just for science and academic purposes. @@UpstateSTI the stock '22 WRX has the potential to stay close to a stage 2 WRX but I don't think it can outright beat it. A stage 2 VA WRX can be between 275-300whp depending on the tuner and car. Most 22 WRX are dynoing at 250-260whp so it's close. It's still nice to see a stock one being that good. Now tuned there's no comparison. A stage 1 '22 beats a stage 1 '21 any day. Same for stage 2. The improvements over the last generation make the '22 a completely different beast. I recently got protuned with an intake only to make 321/360 on 93 and 362/374 on e40. A VA WRX needs a bit more than an intake to do that safely.

What is considered stage 2? That depends on many factors. Considering weight to power ratio and BHP. The stage 2 should win. As there is only a 3 HP gain on the new 2.4l engine

There's supposedly 3 peak horsepower over the last one but area under the curve would be vastly improved with more displacement. I also don't buy that there's 'only' 3 horsepower between the two anyway, not if the '22 is pushing 240whp on a dyno.

They will make close to 500whp dynojet on the stock engine trans and turbo..do the math. The VA makes ~425whp easily. This one has almost a half liter on it is all new is more balanced than has more chassis and torsional rigidity, has more torque, and to make the horsepower their advertising is an extremely extremely conservative tune. And keep in mind they are matching the VA with 12 PSI. I'll think about the fact that it's a 2.4 l that is all new that is known to be torquey. So bigger and better motor with beefier internals twice as thick cylinder walls beehive valve springs which can handle about 700 RPM extra, beefier internals, a bigger turbo with a larger compressor wheel running lower boost to make the same horsepower. And that's not even to mention the details like he boost controller and some other things that are set up for tuners to make maximum spool horsepower and tunability. I'm projecting around 500 wheel horsepower dynojet with full bolt ons on the stock engine trans and turbo with e.

Nah a Camry will just about keep up but won’t whip right past either of these cars. A stock Camry I assume. They’re true family sedans. Too much body roll in corners. I was following one through the twisty mountain roads when I went to Big Bear this past weekend. Camrys have enough speed to get going on a freeway with a full load of passengers. WRX has the speed to pull through corner after corner. That’s the difference between a Camry and WRX.

Stock to stock sure but a stage 2 no bro I have a stage 2 WRX from maperformance and it like literally not a car or a bus length but a whole train length. I don't how the stage 2 WRX couldn't pull on you I don't understand. Ok the new WRX has a potential but not stock vs stage 2 this race seems a little odd just my opinion or may be I can race you if you disagree like the new WRX stock is not nearly as fast as even just a stage one WRX. But again different tuners out there so idk how he didn't beat you just my opinion I love the new WRX but gonna wait little bit so if there is any imperfections so they fix it in the upcoming models. I got a 2020 WRX stage 2. I didn't want the fr 2015 to 2017 because they had clutch bearing issues and some other issues but just my opinion sweet car anyways congrats!!!

A stock VB pulls hard on a stock VA. This is absolutely true because I’ve experienced it first hand lol. On paper, these cars have about the same numbers, but the VB puts power down so much better. The torque curve peaks at around 2,500 and stays peaked till 5,500 rpm. There’s a video out there that shows the comparison with how both cars deliver power much differently.

@@HeavyMetalWRX All it has is a j pipe. J pipes as you’ll come to find out don’t make as much of difference on these engines as it does on an ej. You see more power increases with things like intercoolers ibr intake manifolds etc. the j pipe is worthwhile only so you can run a bigger turbo, which would be the real worthwhile mod looking into. The stock turbo early rpm stuff is horrible for making any real power

@Dnoir007 - DTV you really left out who tuned the car because a turboback means nothing if it's tuned and is a really conservative tune. I've seen the 22 wrx with the jb4 get blown out by a stage 2 va wrx. The tuning aspect changes everything. Also running the intake on a 22wrx if it doesn't have a tune is going to blow it. If it has the jb4 it runs lean which grimmspeed has proven which is dangerous and ultimately you just show how stupid people can be with these cars while doing stuff without a tune.

@@ranran2218 I'm very confused with what you are saying here. It sounds like you believe that the '22 is tuned. That is not the case. The '22 is bone stock. The '21 is tuned. This was just a simple comparison of bars between two friends. The '21 was tuned by Ecotech in St. Louis. There are no secrets or hidden meanings here. I believe the car is making somewhere between 280-290 whp. We just wanted to see the difference and so did a pull from about 50ish I think. How am I showing anything stupid here? @@ranran2218 bro you can change the AFR on the JB4 lmao. Grimmspeed’a video failed to mention that. I don’t have a JB4, but it’s pretty well known in the VB community that map 6 will allow you to customize your tune. A lot of people are already doing this. A stock VB is simply tuned better from the factory than a stock VA. These cars make similar horsepower, but I’m still able to pull on a stock VA with my stock VB. Like you said, it’s about tuning.

You can't run intakes on these without a tune. This is the type of stuff you out out there that misinforms others about the platform.

@@HeavyMetalWRX I’ve never ridden in a new one, I raced one in my 650 and it was similar results from older models but a 650 is almost 200 more WHP. Cobb tuned these I think could be very fast but like I said I haven’t ridden in one so my opinions thus far all from what I can read basically. Also the wrxs generally are quicker in a quarter than STIs. I believe STIs are overpriced but WRXs from what I’ve seen are reasonable. 2018 and up models around 22-30k depending on options, mileage etc…

@@kingexpithia the biggest changes here that contribute to the car being faster is the way the engine makes power and the short transmission gearings. 1/2 are similar but 3/4 are short so you're slamming through gears keep the torque/hp going. That makes a massive difference..plus less turbo lag ( at least in lower levels of boost). When I raced my STi friend I was surprised. The car is far faster than anyone is willing to admit...because of the looks 🤣

@@kingexpithia well we want everyone to be able to enjoy the car so CVT is never gonna go away. With the average age of the WRX owner now at 35 I think there will always be a manual / auto..I do hope they use a DSG instead next time
