I am an empty nester with grown children, but oh how I wish I had seen a video like this when my kids were school age. Such good ideas for alleviating the stress of school mornings. It is so important that kids get to school without drama, fights, yelling, etc. A peaceful morning goes a long way toward having a good day at school. I love Pink Stuff!!! I always hated the burned on grease stains on my pots and pans, but nothing I used would take it off without scarring the finish. Pink Stuff is magic! Those grease stains come clean with a little effort.

One of the best things of my daughters' school is that every year all the grades buy the supplies in bulk and they are delivered to the school so you just have to give the money the first days of September and they provide for everything. No labels needed, everything stays at school 😅

You have some great Mom hacks for back to school. I’ve been out of that game for some years now. My youngest graduated high school 2008. Not that I had to stop buying some school supplies at that point since 2 of my 3 attended college. It just gets more expensive as they go. Good luck to your boys for their upcoming school year. It’s a very exciting time of year. Getting to see some old friends and making some new ones too ❤

Hi Amanda, back to school on the east coast starts in the last week in August. Watching you make peanut butter and jelly sandwiches were deliciously singing to my soul.😊

My kids are grown and I miss getting ready for back to school. At the end of the school year, I would always clean out their closets and drawers and purchase what they needed for summer camp. About 1 month before school started, I would purchase their uniforms and school supplies and start getting everything organized. My kids and I had fun doing these things together. It was part of the end of summer experience.

As a teacher, back to school is something that is always on my mind near the end of summer break (I teach in Canada and we go back in September, however I spend time over summer to get new things for my classroom/prepare for what I will teach in the school year. Doing this helps prepare for the new school year and it is good to get in a routine.

Hi Amanda,Happy 6 Years! I live in South Carolina and my grandchildren are in PA. I try to help out with the cost by buying a bunch of their school supplies and send them a box of stuff. They really enjoy getting that box in the mail even though it is just school supplies. Plus it helps out with the cost for the parents. It makes getting school supplies more fun. When my kids were little we would try to make a weekend school reset where we would try to plan for the week. Such as planning due paperwork and homework that needed to be turned in on a certain day. That also included lunches for the week. Most important it kept all the papers cleaned up and put away either by boxing school work to keep or papers that needed to be pitched. It kept the mountain of papers brought in from the week down to a minimum .

Where I live in WA we get out the end of June and start back up the end of August. I work full time as a teacher and have 2 kids. I prep their lunches the night before and prep easy to grab bags with snacks/dessert/chips/veggies to toss in their lunches to make the process faster when I'm exhausted in the evenings. They like to help and I have found keeping separate bins for the type of snack/dessert/etc really helps! If they pick a bag from each bin, their lunches are nearly made. I also have before school and after school checklists. They've learned how to check each task off as they go. I often have meetings before and after school and this helps them learn a lot of independence and responsibility around getting ready for school and establishing solid routine. Instead of sandwiches, sometimes I'll do soup, ravioli, or mac and cheese in a thermos. The also like meats, cheese, crackers...like a homemade version of lunchables.❤

Hey Amanda! Loved your comment to me a couple videos ago. It's bittersweet for me to watch your back to school video today. After nearly 39 years of working in school with children, Pre,-K to high school with an emphasis on elementary character education, I retired this past June. It will be different for me this year for sure, but I plan on volunteering to do projects with some of my former students in class with some of my favorite teachers. That said, your videos are filled with such wonderful organizational ideas, I'm sure to pick up some pointers to help me be more prepared on those days when I volunteer. You are an awesome mom and homemaker and I'm happy that you have become a part of my life! Be happy and keep smiling! 💕 Mrs. "V"

Happy 6th! I've been following you since your Farmhouse Makeover (and checking out the earlier ones), and it's been an amazing journey and growth for you and your family. In Wisconsin, public schools start no earlier than September 1st, so the kiddos have a few more weeks of summer. I love how you made a little area drop zone for backpacks and shoes. I wish I'd had that idea when my four were in school. My kids are long out of college, but we dropped a good chunk of money on school supplies each year, as well as what we would supply for our students who were in need of some help. I always took advantage of the super low price deals on supplies, especially pencils and notebooks. If they had a limit, I'd hand the kids some cash and have them go through separately. All extra supplies were put into a bin that the kids could just dip into if they were running short. When I retired from teaching, I still had a big box of notebooks and folders that I gave to my colleagues to have on hand for the students. Also, I did not go cheap on lunch bags and backpacks. Buy quality. A little extra cost up front meant savings for several years, as they lasted. As for lunches, my kids didn't like to wait in line for hot lunch, so I packed them every morning while they ate breakfast. They had simple tastes--pb&j, a piece of fruit and a snack. On a good day, we'd mix it up with a ham/tortilla roll or a homemade lunchable. The line to buy milk was always quick, so they had cold milk available. In high school, they got $20 a week to buy school lunch, eat off campus, or save if they wanted to pack their own. They could always make that work...especially curtesy of the fast food dollar menus. I don't miss it, but I miss it.

I recently discovered your channel and I'm hooked lol. I'm finally coming out of a really long dark period. your videos have been playing non stop for a week while I tackle our messes. .As far as mom hack, I only have 1 teen in school now and he's going to be 15 (all about doing things his own way). I have a 18 year old special needs daughter that's at home with me and my 19 year old daughter that lives at home. When they were all in school, a week before it starts, I would focus on boosting their immune systems all throughout the first month they are in, with extra vitamin C, elderberry, Amca, fruits rich in Vitamin C.....). this helped a lot as they usually, one of them would get sick as soon as they went back to school, then we would all be sick for over a month... Looking forward to all your upcoming videos. Much love to all, Irene

Congratz on your 6-year KZbin anniversary! I'm in Georgia and school started back Aug. 2nd. The summer went by so fast. My kids are out of school but we're raising my grandson and he's in kindergarten. It's a little stressful starting the school thing all over again (especially at my age - 54). Thanks so much for all the tips and tricks. I so need to find a place for all the papers. It's unreal how much paper comes home from school each day/week. 1 thing that I'm doing this year is laying out a week's worth of clothes on Sunday afternoon/evening. I let "lil man" pick out what he wants to wear and have everything together so he can grab that day's clothes and get himself dressed. I'm hoping that will cut down on the stress of having to decide what to wear each morning and streamline our morning routine. Thank you again for all your hard work on your videos. You ALWAYS give me so much inspiration and motivation. Thanks again!

I have adult kids no school for us . My favorite mom hack was Sunday nights at 7 we would sit down and discuss what everyone has going on the week and any necessary preps for the kids activities ( ie sporting events pack snacks and extra beverages in bags put in a grab -n- go sports bins. We made sure uniforms or work out outfits were ready those I had in a hanging daily closet organizer in their room or closet by the entryway ) Each child was responsible to help load and then grab on their particular day. if they forgot my husband, I , or whomever could grab easily without spending time searching for the particular items for the day.

My kids are adults now, but I like to make waffles, blueberry muffins, banana muffins any other type of muffin in large batches. I still do this. Freeze them, then the waffles can just get popped in the toaster and the muffins reheat easily in the microwave for 1 minute. I also make smoothies and put them in mason jars in the freezer. I pull them out of the freezer the night before and put in the fridge to thaw and it is typically ready the next morning. That might be a good option for lunch as well. I have seen others make lunchmeat sandwiches and freeze them like the peanut butter and jelly. Wraps are a good option. Pasta salads, fruit salads, pinwheel sandwiches, pre bagged up chips, cheese/crackers, beef jerky, little egg bites, salads with grilled chicken.

We have another 2 weeks before we find out teacher assignments and schedules for our two girls (10th & 4th graders), then they go back on the 28th. We're in the Philly suburbs. We got a basic supply list for our 4th grader but won't get her actual supply list until around the 20th, once her teacher emails or mails it. I so love shopping for their supplies. Hoping your three have a great school year.

Isn’t it wild?! I keep wondering if time will ever slow down at this point?! I’ve just been doing my best to soak up each moment. I saw an old video last night when the boys were tiny (Noah was still 1) and it made me tear up 🥺

We had a meet the teacher and get supply list today August 3rd. Our first full day of school is August 7th here in Tennessee. I only have one left in school but we always lay clothes out the night before and pack whatever we can in the lunch. When I had multiple children in school each child had a different color socks so they knew which ones were theirs. Thank you for all the back to school ideas!!!!

Hi Amanda, the kids are getting so big (love Luke’s hair). I'm always impressed how organized u get @ the beginning of the school year. I recommended both my nieces get the homework caddy! 😉 The only school hack my mom did was making sure we had our clothes laid out for the week (hung up on our closet door) & each night our lunch was already made to gather in the morning. Thxs 4 sharing. Congratulations on 6 years on KZbin!!! 🎉🎊🍾👏🏾 #August video2

Amanda, I enjoy your videos so much! I'm a great grandma (72 😳), so my 2 kids are grown, out of my 4 grandkids, only one is still in h.s. and she is 16. I'm not sure what day her school starts, but I know it's soon lol. My 2 great grands live in another state (Indiana) and they started back today! 😊 I miss those days of my kids going back to school, getting things ready, shopping for school supplies. Your hack of clean socks is awesome! I hope your boys have a wonderful year at school! 😊❤ Oh yeah. I make my bed every morning! 😂

Wow back to school so soon. I cannot get over how much your boys have grown. My kids have kids so I help with some back to school shopping. I like to send new ideas to them on ways to get the kids motivated for back to school. The grandkids don't head back until the end of August and it seems the summer just flew by. I'm also waiting on my first Temu order to arrive. I purchased some of your purchases and can't wait to get them and start using them. I make the bed every morning. If nothing else gets done, at least I completed one thing on my list. Hope you and the family have a great week!!!
