Auto dealer for 30 years. Sold thousands of trucks and have driven most of them. My new F150 only has 30k on it but so far the best truck I have ever owned. Put a leveling kit and some agressive tires and still getting 22+ mpg. If your going to buy one get the 2.7 and not the 3.5.

Just replaced my wife and daughter’s over aspirated twin turbo cars with naturally aspirated V8’s, looking to do the same for my son. Idk how it compares, but I put my 1993 F-150 302 V8 through Hades for 11 years and the only problems it gave me were my fault. I’m getting V8s for everyone before they are gone forever.
@CarsWithSteve
@CarsWithSteve Жыл бұрын
Nice, did you replace your wife and daughters cars with trucks? The Coyote is definitely a well built engine and is still popular. Can't see this going away anytime soon, maybe another 10 years before the F150 is only electric
@chadgardnerdds3197
@chadgardnerdds3197 Жыл бұрын
@@CarsWithSteve They didn’t want a truck so I went with the naturally aspirated V8 in 2 Lexus (Toyota) sedans. Wife bought an AMG Mercedes sports car with twin turbos after someone hit her Expedition Jan. ‘20. Daughter came home from college and stole it, left her Mustang with 118k miles and zero problems, so my wife traded it for the last Mercedes AMG in the state as everything was shutting down. Both of the over compressed AMG 2.0L’s have cracked the heads and kept problems. I told her she was screwing up buying such small engines with that much air being forced into them, but I can’t tell her hell is hot. My 16y/o son has been driving a 2016 F250 I bought with 102k miles on it when he was 14. (Live in rural Louisiana, so as long as kids can drive, everyone allows it) He’s got it up to 194k miles and no problems except the stuff he has created with his 6” lift, 37” Super Swamper tires, spacers and driving it into duck hunting holes people are afraid to take an ATV into. And flooring the pedal EVERY time he leaves the house after he tuned and deleted it watching KZbin, making it “roll coal.” Brake pads or full brake jobs often, U joints, tie rods, etc. His buddies are starting to get nice, new trucks, so he has decided to park the old truck at the hunting camp and he wants an F150. I told when he finds one with a V8, I’d get it. He wants a King Ranch or hi level Tremor. He has $55k saved up from guiding duck hunts and managing the irrigation on the farm he guides hunts on. The farmer said “he actually listens to me, I don’t have to worry if a field is gonna get watered and I’ve cut record beans & corn the 3 years he’s been here.” Gave him a $32k after-tax bonus in December. Told him I’d finance the rest as a write off through my practice, but he can’t find one.
@CarsWithSteve
@CarsWithSteve Жыл бұрын
Those V8's are great! Haven't been behind the wheel of an AMG yet but have heard nothing but mixed things. Have your son put in a factory order for the Tremor or King Ranch. It might take 4 - 6 months at most to get here but he'd at least get exactly what he's after!

I've seen that pop up a few times in a few different forums. Don't call the wrecker lol! The people who have solved it had their dealer replace the 12v battery and replace the module. Other one is to switch into sport mode when the truck is first turned on, then turn off the truck. Turn it back on again and make sure to stay in sport mode. Not ideal for a pricey truck but it may be a short term solution until you can bring it in to the dealer

That was informative, but more like an infomercial than a review! Lots of good info though, I especially appreciate your emphasis on the impact of all those options on payload (they also impact your wallet!). My old 2011 XLT has 1363lb, which I have exceeded even with a pretty small trailer (under 5000lb). I have a canopy, added a roof rack, canoe, two of us and a bunch of camping gear, went to the scale and got a shock! How heavy would the aftermarket thicker spray-in bed liner be? A factory one would be calculated into the payload listed on the sticker (perhaps you could show people where that is?).
@CarsWithSteve
@CarsWithSteve 10 ай бұрын
Haha tricky finding the right info to cover in videos but good to know the payload info is useful! It's crazy how much weight you carry when you actually add it all up. LineX ranges between 40 - 70 lbs depending on what bed size and coverage you choose but you're right.. the factory liner would have it calculated in the payload sticker. I'll make sure to actually show where to find the sticker in future truck videos

Great video, thanks Steve. That Heritage package looks sweet. Have you heard any rumbling about an F150 plug in hybrid any time in the future? I know there's some major obstacles, mostly being battery capacity/weight. That would make me trade my Powerboost in and take my name off the list for the Lightning.....Also, have you heard any rumors/rumbling about the return of the "yaw cable" to compliment the trailer backup system. It was used in addition to/or to replace the black and white target on the trailer. The '21 Powerboost had it but due to whatever, Ford dropped it in the '22 model (mine).
@CarsWithSteve
@CarsWithSteve Жыл бұрын
Appreciate that! Can't wait to see the Heritage lineup across the board. The old school looking Bronco looks pretty neat too! A plugin hybrid F150 is possible. There's a company called XL Fleet with a product called XL Plug-in that upfits F150s with a nano electric motor and 15 kWh battery. With Ford making a push for electric though I think that's going to be their main focus. The YAW cable won't come back as far as I know because of the Sync4 system improvements. You should have stickers that can be used instead! Check with your dealer to see if they maybe forgot your cable but the part number is LC3T-14G621-AD if you want to go the physical route

The target sticker doesn't always fit on the tongue due to accessories, etc. Oh well.... I think Ford is missing some sales with no plug in hybrid Powerboost. All I hear from people is they're not ready for electric because of the limited range towing and because the infastructure just isn't there yet... Some many people are impressed with the Powerboost and say plug in version would be perfect. I agree! Thanks again....

I don’t know if this trucks Rocks…… but my 2022 F150 3.5L has a really bad vibration when idling. As soon as you park. Truck starts shaking. Armrests. Pedal. Seat. It’s bad!!! This truck does not drive smooth. It’s very bumpy. And you can feel vibration on the Hwy. dealer has inspected it 2x and all they say it’s normal. That they all do the same on the 3.5 eco. It’s bad! I don’t recommend this truck if you wanna feel a smoooth ride. Worst purchase I’ve ever made.
@CarsWithSteve
@CarsWithSteve Жыл бұрын
The vibration on the highway is sometimes traced back to the lane keeping system being turned on without the owner realizing what it is. But a non-stop shake is not normal at all Have you tried taking it into another dealer? I've been in dozens of these trucks and have never felt a vibration like what you're describing at idle.

@@CarsWithSteve no yeah I know it has a lane departure warning. But I have that off. Idle vibration never felt on my previously owned 2.7L 2018 F150. I could be on idle for hours and didn’t know it. It’s a known problem, especially in the last two years. There was a TSB for 2017-2022. The evaporator core has to be replaced which involves removing the entire dash. Do a google search and there are entire threads related to the issue.

@CarsWithSteve 11 ай бұрын
Sure there’s a service bulletin for something to look out for in case an AC issue comes up but it’s not 100% guarantee that evap core is the root cause, but it would be one of the first things to check. I know a bunch of people in 2015 - 2022 f150s that have never had issues with their AC - so all I meant was while it’s a known issue that doesn’t mean it’s common

The service manager at my dealership called it a “known issue “. And would assume he would know. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a ford fan. Never had any other truck. But buying a 74k truck and the first day have issues is ridiculous. Then to see online I’m far from being out of the norm. It happened again leaving the dealer the next day, so I turned around and went back to show the manager. I took pictures of the frozen ac line and he said he would order a new evap core. Now after 3 weeks, the dealer called and said that Ford wanted me to bring it in one more time to see if the tech could reproduce it. WHAT!

I use it almost all the time. Tundra has the windshield wipers and turn signal on the right side most people are right handed the light control is harder to use with ford as it in the lower control panel which seems more futuristic but less practical. futuristic as in don’t touch it. The ford has a huge screen which is cool but Overall I’m not wanting to drive it because at 70,000 miles I’d rather have it be someone else’s problems to deal with and hold value where as the tundra with the 5.7 felt like I would get 120,000 out of it and still get my money back
