Break it down to simple terms. In 1995 a new full size pickup averaged about $23k while the median income in the US was $35k. So a truck basically cost 61% of someone's yearly wages. Now a truck costs $63k and the median wage has only increased to $54k ,116% of someone's yearly wages. That ain't inflation, that's getting robbed. Don't worry I will never buy another new vehicle, I just can't figure out how the people that are buying them don't see how much money they are loosing.

Don't be fooled by the payload number on the door sticker. I had a '21 F-350 and the payload was 4,450. I put a 3,300 pound camper on the back of it and lost 3 full inches of travel. The rear end would wallow like a pig and that was with the "camper package". I had to get custom rear leaf springs made to get those three inches back...rode like a dream after that. Bottom line...when you get payload that's near 2/3 of the door sticker...you're virtually maxed out.
