Car is awesome, very fast especially the 3.3T AWD. Just Amazing that V6 with 365HP Twin-turbocharged engine is a rocket. Reliability is a 10, no BMW or Mercedes or Audi. Genesis all the way.

It’s slower way than bmw and Mercedes but nowhere near as reliable as Lexus. I think it’s in the middle. Also sounds like crap. Nonetheless it’s a good looking car with similar specs on paper to the others in the class.

"Way slower"?? In real world (even on paper) the 3.3T G70 is just as fast as any Germain in its class. As for reliability, the gap between Lexus and Genesis is much closer than you say. Genesis hands down beats Lexus when it comes to interiors. Genesis hands down beats all the competitors when it comes to warranty. Genesis hands down beats the competition for value. A fully loaded Genesis is thousands less than any of the competition. 5 years down the road you will still be smiling every time you drive this car. 5 years down the road with any Germain brand you will wonder why your check engine light is on AGAIN and what the hell is gonna go wrong this time. A trip to the service department at any Germain brand will cost you $1500.00 with Genesis being at least half of that! A educated consumer would easily choose the Genesis over its competitors. Only sheep and "Jones's" continue to buy the Germain brand unless leasing. "middle of the pack"?? There is nothing about Genesis that is middle of the pack.

I personally drive a 2011 manual wrx so I like Asian manufactures. Not one issue in 75000 miles. I’ll have to test drive a genesis to get real world experience.

Don't forget it comes from Hyundai which has been around since the 80's. Although Hyundais SUCKED big time in the 80's and 90's. Their quality has drastically improved over the years. So much so that them and Kia lead the pack in reliability and have so for several years. Genesis is just a much more upscale version like Acura is to Honda and Lexus is to Toyota.

We have a 2022 G70 Sport Prestige 3.3T AWD and its so good... we had a 2022 BMW M240I AWD on order and ended up going with the Genesis for the same price... MSRP on both was right about $56k for a 240, not even a 340i... my wife is very happy with her car. The grey napa leather interior is super nice also. Genesis is a much better value and looks nicer imo.

​@Samuel Reid we were in the same boat. On paper, genesis wins, no doubt. Value is indeed amazing considering you get a ton of options but when i test drove this, it didnt feel special, certainly big on power but it just just like any other 6 cylinder. Went with 330i with m sport/shadowline.

It has, but this car has great value, and in my view will have better reliability along with a grrrreat factory warranty. Optioning out the G70 puts it near the Bimmer though. Some people would rather have the extra goodies, and some want a car with few options that really flies.

@@weatherchaser1166 I mostly agree. The 340i is better in most areas but the value for the Genesis, especially long term, is greater. You can’t beat the warranty on the g70 and maintenance cost will be much lower. I just bought a loaded G70 for $54,600 and a loaded 340i is close to $70,000. To me the BMW isn’t worth $15,000 more, not even close. If money isn’t a object for you go for the BMW.

If they come out with a halo version g70r that makes like 600hp with all those features and warranties it will be Its an almost perfect car

My main complaint is the tiny door armrest. I can get only a little bit of my elbow on it. I drive with my elbow planted on the door arm rest and a claw grip on the steering wheel. Its the minimum I require to buy a car.

@@AAhmad3449 that's such an old way of thinking man. Korean cars have vastly improved over the years. You think Honda and Toyota haven't had tons of recalls in the past? Do some research on all the recalls of engine fire risk for both brands. It's just ridiculous when I see people comment the same thing without having actual knowledge. Every car maker has issues. And recalls are there to be able to fix and improve on issues. Simple as that. And yes I know many people who owned or own Korean cars and none have had issues.

From what I’ve seen the only difference between fully loaded 2022 to 2023 is the 2023 has power trunk and the option of red interior. There is around a $3k price increase in MSRP. This info that I’ve seen is related to models in the US.

Why is ambient lighting important ? It adds nothing to the car. But if you really want that you can always get it in the aftermarket

I just bought one (sport prestige) and I agree that without ambient lighting and full digital cluster, it is behind the curve. But I have to say everything is solidly put together and is high quality to the touch. The videos and pictures don’t do it justice.

@@shinedownfly So you want a Paul Walker Fast and the Furious Mitsubishi Eclipse from the late 90's with lights all over the place in the interior and a digital cluster that has a robot head sticking out of the cluster (like in the 2022 GV70) not flush at all, just looking disjointed. Don't get too down on the ambient lighting, it's a new trend with cars because companies are desperate to "modernize" the driving experience like touch screen climate controls which are a total setback. If you're curious about the digital cluster just test drive a GV70 and look at how silly the eye tracking device is implemented. Of course once they update the cluster and it flows better with the overall design and actually make the cluster look 3D (because it's really stretching the "3D" because it's not) then I will start crying about it lol.

This car is an almost perfect car genisis needs to do just a few things to make it truly perfect. 1. Move the grille sensor behind the grille its unsightly as most are and takes away from the front end beauty. 2. Interior ambient lighting the gv70 and up have it basically as standard theirs absolutely zero reason why this car does not have it. 3. Interior buttons need to illuminate white not blue white is significantly more classy they could take it a step further and have a pure my color system where can adjust the color of ambient lighting as well as buttons gauges even illuminated door sills (wich should be standard on all 4 doors) I'd just be happy with white buttons the stinger has them and ambient lighting as well so no reason this does not. 4. The drive select needs to be moved to the steering wheel or into the infotainment system the knob needs to be replaced with a infotainment wheel again gv70 and up has this nobody should want to have to reach to play with the touch screen every time. 5. Gages need to go back to the old or be changed to the all digital Other than that maybe add launch control I'd love to see a 600hp halo model g70r or something as fast as a modded version maybe hitting 0-60 in 3.2 seconds or something

B58 engine smacks around everything in it's class. Genesis makes very nice vehicles but they aren't matching the German trio yet. This competes against M340i, AMG C43, and S4. They are 10k more expensive though.

Hyundai/Kia are weird the way they option their trims, I have the 2023 sportage sx prestige and it doesn't have wireless carplay but the lower trims it comes standard with it, also the sx prestige doesn't have ambient lighting but the hybrid version sx does. It makes no sense.

This is the front runner to replace my 11 year old Audi S6. That being said I'm really disappointed in the engine. It's got a little more HP than Audi's S4 but the S4 gets better mileage and it's an older design. The M340i is quicker and gets even better mileage. Compare it to some of the newer designs like Audi's 2.9 that has 450 hp or even it's older 4.0 that gets 480 (rated at 420). Just seems to me the 3.3 is stuck years behind many others. There are 3 2.0's that have 400+ hp now. For the Lexus fans, the 5.0 RC-F has 100hp more without the benefit of turbos at only a slight drop in gas milage. The F is also 3/4 second quicker to 60. Don't get me wrong, as I said it's my frontrunner so I love the car, but I'll miss the 550 under the hood now and still getting the same gas mileage.

The only place where the Genesis is better is its value - unless you are leasing, which many (maybe most) drivers in this segment tend to do. In that case, the $10-15K MSRP difference becomes a moot point as the lease payments on the M340i are probably only about $100 higher per month (the G70 does not lease well at all). This then gets partially offset by the G70's much worse fuel economy lol. Personally, I'd pass on this car. If your main priority is bang for buck, the 2.0T version would be the best bet. If the priority is performance, the 3.3T is the slowest car in the segment and the M340i will be much better.

Slowest car in the segment?……..it destroys the TLX type s and Lexus IS350…………is just as quick as s4/s5 a little slower then c43 and yes gets mopped by m340i in a straightline like every other car in the segment. The 3.3tt is a very good motor. The g70/stinger just have a fake LC that’s builds zero boost unlike Germans who build a lot of boost using LC. But even without a boosted launch can still do 12s stock. Doing the parking brake launch which builds boost they run 12.5’s and 4.2 0-60. Which make it pretty much faster then c43/s4/s5 and right on m340i ass.

The 2.0 T version with the single exhaust rear bumper? Yeah you would say that as you haven't driven either engine trims, the difference in drivability is night and day, not to even mention the exhaust note. I have driven both and the 2.0T is a pathetic engine in contrast. Buying the 2.0T for the price point of the 3.3T is a joke and a mistake if you even consider it, you either really love the styling of the car or you can't afford gas for a car that's meant to be driven with a heavy foot.

I really don't get the super hype for this car. Yes, the car drives pretty good, but I find the overall room inside in the car far too small for what it is. The back seats are almost unusable for adults, and the trunk is really tight. I also found the driver's seat a bit too narrow, and the "half analog" screen is silly. Finally, compared to the German rivals, the gas mileage is HORRIBLE in these vehicles.

What do you mean it's too small for what it is? It's not supposed to be no mid size car... It's literally in the small luxury sedan category.... Keyword small. It's not for you. Doesn't mean it's not a great valued car. You get more standard features than it's German competition without having to spend thousands more. The only thing I agree on is why it's MPGs are so bad when the Germans get over 32 highway mpg

Some don’t care about such things - I get it. But some do. I’m not necessarily arguing price because Genesis will mostly always do that with their products. Nice car - I just think the car is a bit overhyped for what it is.

The g70 is a blast to drive. Even the AWD g70 slides around all day long. It’s very tail happy. And has way better steering feel/better dynamics then Germans. M340i is numb s4/s5 very numb the c43 is pretty engaging.
