Thanks for the video. I've seen these trucks on the Gov Planet website. I've seen KZbinrs pick them up or ship them. I've never seen a video on the auction process.

Wow 18k, thanks for showing us how it works.

Thanks @riverthur for the comment! I have seen a couple videos on KZbin about gov planet auctions and never got the detail that I wanted. Not the greatest video I made but hope there is enough information to give people confidence to try it out.

Do you know if Canadians can purchase trucks from the GovPlanet site? Would love to get one without the markup!
@M2-Expeditions10 ай бұрын
Hey Mike! From what I read on the govplanet site it looks like you can. Gov Planet has agreements with veriftread to ship the vehicles to Canada. I also think it doesnt hurt calling the gov planet support to make sure.

Nice video, longest 2 minutes, been there, done that. If You could, that end user thingy, can that be taken care of well in advance of choosing any vehicle for bidding, to get it out of the way and speed things up? TY

I looked into taking care of the EUC well in advance of buying this truck but govplanet told me they don't do that. They told me in a polite way that they dont want to waste time on preparing EUC for someone that won't purchase a vehicle even though you are actively bidding. Even though I did my research, I was wrong with how long the EUC would take. I read, heard, and talked to people saying that it would be approved in 30 days to 6 months. Mine was complete in 10 days. I don't know why my EUC was so fast, but it is something to think about that nothing is really set in stone dealing with an auction site.

I’d love to do this! Maybe some day. Need to finish the current project!

I'd love to know what your current project is?! Let me know if you do plan on buying an LMTV, Ill give my honest perspective of owning a truck like this. Maybe when the weather turns bad in Washington Ill make a video of my thoughts so far.

Are you going to do the eco hubs? The highway gears? Home build camper?
@M2-Expeditions Жыл бұрын
Hey @scottmcburney8938, thanks for the comment! The end state is to build a camper. Right now my frame is 14' 6 ". Thinking about extending the frame to put a 20 box on the back. I haven't worked on a diesel truck before so the first year owning the truck, I want to do all mechanical work. When it is time to build out the shell Ill have confidence the truck will function as expected. As far as eco hubs and highway gears short answer is yes. I havent researched each option in detail yet. Dont know if I have to choose one or the other or If I can do both modifications. Definitely siding on highway gears because going 55 mph over hundreds of miles will eventually get irritating. If you have any insight on eco hubs vs highway gears I'd love to hear it!

Congratulations on your purchase. The Stewart and Stevenson looks like a mean truck. Where do you go to get parts for these?
@M2-Expeditions Жыл бұрын
@penfold357007 Thank you for the comment! Getting parts is bit of a scavenger hunt. Most of the consumable's items I buy on amazon (hoses, 6 an adapters, fluids, oil filters, fuel filters, etc). For actual Stewart Stevenson specific parts I used midwestmilitaryequipment.com/ or ebay. On Midwest military equipment site may not have a part listed for example a steering support column. I contacted their sales department and they have been very helpful in accommodating my needs and provided me the parts I requested. MWME refurbishes these old military trucks, they buy some trucks for parts and others to put out for sale.

Any reason you bought the A1? What will you do with the crane? I'm looking for this exact rig, so it's awesome to see one sell recently for a great price.
@M2-Expeditions Жыл бұрын
My main goal was to purchase the 6x6. A0/A1 was not a driving force in my decision. Ive seen too many videos of people saying the 4x4 LMTV is not enough space. I have never heard of someone complaining about having too much room for a habitat with the 6x6. I have seen quite a bit of people sell the 4x4 to get the 6x6. I plan on scrapping the crane and extending the frame to accommodate a 20 ft habitat.

Hello my name is Yves Helbert, I'm Brazilian, I'm in Brazil now. I've been following the channel on you tube, midwest website. I'm interested in buying an LMTV 4X4 to build a motorhome, I've been looking for a good truck for some time and you make a good presentation in the video. I don't speak English, I'm translating via Google, I hope it's okay. Thank you in advance for your response. Can I buy an LMTV from you? Or does the company only sell to US residents? I have a lot of doubts and would like to talk throughout the process and make a good negotiation.
@M2-Expeditions Жыл бұрын
Hey @yhelbert, thank you for the comment! I am not associated with midwestmilitaryequipment.com/. For the Gov planet auction you do have to be a U.S. citizen to buy the truck. Maybe if you contact Midwest Military equipment sales department via email they can help guide you. I do not plan on selling my truck anytime soon or ever really. Plan on using it for a bunch of skiing and traveling adventures. Hope this helps!
