For the record, military convoys typically stop every 2 hours for axle cool down. Also, for the record, we bring seat cushions for extended convoys. Get "Purple" seat cushion -- highly recommended and typically found in truck stops.

Professional truckers see these trucks frequently, and there is an assumption that they are typically limited to 55mph. The perception that they see you at first glance is you're miltary, and as such, they also expect miltary trucks to operate a certain way. They (military trucks) only operate in the right lane and in accordance with standard military protocols which is to say, you will be passed by truckers on the left. Just FYI.

I am ex N.Z. army driver and own/drive an ex N.Z. army Mercedes Benz 6x4 called "the double dually super ute" as well as commercial trucks for work. The drivers seat seems wrong, even in military trucks you should have some shock absorbing bounce. Air seats are a needless luxury so most seats have a variable spring setup. Look under the drivers seat for a big round knob with a visable weight scale on it. The idea is that you screw in and out to compress the spring and get some bounce according to your weight. I,ve jumped into many trucks with the seat wound down hard coz drivers are all looking for the air adjust and think the seat its busted.

Advice for your ice to last longer: A) Install a variable speed control to the fan, the lower the speed the longest the ice will last b) Install an automatic 1 minute on- 30 sec off type - fan driver, decreasing the duty cycle will help the ice to last longer, greetings from Guadalajara jalisco !

My advice to replace your diy AC and install a permanent cooling system you can put up a normal car AC on it and have plenty more space under the hood for the compressor and install the AC system at the back of the cabin also your truck have a auto tire inflation system that when your tires on low or flat you can inflate it by a push of a button inside its connected on your air brake system you should try it

I feel your pain. That was a long trip. Two things: (1) Get yourself one of those infrared laser handheld temperature gauges like A/C repairman uses. Great for checking axle temps, tire temps, and all kinds of things. (2) MAKE SURE when you tip that cab forward there is nothing loose in the cab that can come crashing forward as the cab is lifted and bust out the windshield. That would really s#ck! Cheers,

In Australia, kangaroos are a problem when driving. The official response when you see a roo is, break (try to lose as much speed as possible without locking up), s Ride the horn (roos will flee from sound) and drive straight ( it is better to hit a roo than drive off the road and hit a tree). The research shows more people die trying to avoid hitting roos than hitting roos. Each time we are driving at night and see a Roo sign or see roos on the road, my wife and I remind each other of the rule so that it is second nature. Two days age I hit a roo ( only the 4 roo in my 35 years of driving) and did everything correct. Unfortunately the roo crossed back in front of me at the last moment and I hit it straight on. The bull bar pushed it off and it disappeared into the bush. I read a story years back that a British backpacker lost her life when she hit a roo and tried to save it. The impact occurred on a bend in the road. A truck appeared on the road and impacted the backpacker and injured roo, both died. Stay safe.

Ah fellow Idahoans Howdy from your Owyhee County neighbor to the south! I drive an LMTV for MRW Fire District, outfitted with a 900 gallon water tank and pumps and let me tell you driving one of those form more than a few miles is something else. I love LMTVs so much. Definitely take a break every couple hours for those hubs and the axles to cool down, and hit the deer next time. It's them vs a 2.5 ton truck built for combat and, as you learned, you can't just hit the breaks in an LMTV. That much weight up top is the biggest rollover risk a vehicle could have. Y'all stay safe up north now

I can see the dinner table story with the family years from now. “The I hope we make it to Idaho in the army truck” story where mom had to stop and clean her pants out because her son was practicing army truck drifting on the highway. The dogs got us a disturbing the peace ticket at a motel and finally it takes 55 lbs of ice to keep cool when traveling 1200 miles. Only you all could make a long hot trip so exciting. Waving etiquette: 1) trucks always wave to trucks, including pickup trucks. 2) you don't waggle your hand. In fact, you don't even remove your hand from your steering wheel. You just raise your fingers so your hand is flat. If it's somebody you know, you just raise your index finger. 3) You can wave to motorcycles, but you have to have your hand out your window, and you just stretch it out, palm forward, fingers open, forearm slightly down. Yes, waving is complicated. Oh, and if you're bicycling, you don't wave. You just look at the other bicyclist and nod your head.

When I took drivers education back in the early 60's, the instructor emphatically taught that when an animal ran in front of us, we were to tightly grip the wheel and steer straight ahead. The animal would cause less damage then the wreck that would be caused by trying to avoid hitting it.

Cab-over army truck.. Yikes! I drove one of those Isuzu 16 foot cab-over trucks all the way down from Atlanta to south Florida early last year, and back with a full load. Nightmare of a trip. Everything is amplified to the cab.. every bump, and bridges would launch you out of your seat. You think you're getting air but it's just the cab pitching up and down. Great video, and I'm glad it wasn't me! ;)

Your videos are awesome and enjoyable to watch. It really looks like you are enjoying your journey and your lives. We've been enjoying binge watching your journey from your first video. We've been looking at moving up north also. Maybe one day. Enjoy life to the fullest, and you will never have any regrets.

Welcome to Idaho, we live down in Boise. I’ve been to a lot of the state, don’t hesitate to ask. One piece of advice, ditch the out of state plates ASAP, the folks north of the Salmon, don’t like “out of stater’s” - but I think you’ll fit in… DG

@@thedocisin3204 Sorry, very wrong mind set! With an Idaho registered vehicle, we were threatened, and almost run off the road. I live in Boise, it is no where close to Las Angeles! Boarder fence work, keep Idaho strong, independent, and free! If you move here from out of state, some folks like “The Doc is IN” don’t like you - proof yet again… ask ugly for their opinion!

You two can buy this for the cab of the truck RV A/C's & Heaters | Camping World also you can swap out the rear axle for one from trailier that way have to stop every two hours to let rear cool down and the axle are from 18 wheel trailer or from a wrecked 18 wheel truck.

Change your seats out with recaro seats since your running an air system in your vehicle and you can run an inversion valve on your pedal system to run cruise control or a relay set up installing a push button on the steering wheel to remove the cruise control like a clock wheel on the column
