Hi Paul I watch your every videos and follow your ig cuz I think you are one of the best car reviewers in Australia and the reason for that is because you seem less bias and very informative. But this video had me questioning as to why this specific car had received more than 1 dedicated review video in such a short period of time? Is it an ad? And they weren't happy with the first one?
@CarExpertAus Жыл бұрын
@@ishoman.alxndr Typically there are only a limited amount of vehicles to review and a brand like GWM will loan the same vehicle to a number of outlets. Hi Paul, and from the outset, thankyou thankyou thankyou! I've been a tad critical of you not testing vehicles in correct modes off road in the past, but I do understand you can't obviously learn every feature on every vehicle in detail in the timeframe you have, I accept that. Pothole mode would have assisted cross axle traction problem you experienced. I've been perusing your site for a while now waiting this review as like you, I'm really impressed by this vehicle. The crawl feature, the turn feature both Toyota derived features implemented now in a vehicle half the cost, unsure about the petrol version but the hybrid version (as tested in Oz) has under vehicle view, a LR Defender feature. An oversite of a feature is, the rear cargo floor lifts out and that shiny aluminium package stored under it are fold out legs that clip into the base of the cargo floor turning the floor into a roadside picnic table. Also, rear door has moulded hooks for hanging items off, someone really thought out practical options for a off road vehicle here, congrats GWM. Whats it missing? Luggage/storage for distant outback touring & payload to suit also. GWM will have to lift their game though, as I've been to two dealers in NSW, neither could explain the "Expert Mode" button, one saying "the button that looks like a blue bottle", don't know. The other describe it as a haval H6, well basically it's the same vehicle, WHAT!!!! How do they expect to sell them if staff are so oblivious? Not able to test drive in NSW at either dealer, as there is an issue registering "The Tank" with NSW RMS. One dealer has my details, he'll notify me as soon as one is registered for road use, amazingly we don't live in a country as covid demonstrated, we live in seperate states, approved by everyone except NSW RMS. Ineous Grenadier has recently shaken up the 4WD industry, well now its GWM making headway, this is an awesome truck. Much talk of a 5 door Jimny coming, truly Suzuki, its too late, this tank will dominate the compact 4WD segment IMHO.

Just curious, but did you notice any thudding in the front suspension when doing the corrugation section? I have an H6 3rd gen, and if you go over a traffic calming bump too fast (20km/h), it sounds like something is going to break in the front suspension, particularly on the left hand side wheel. My vehicle has done 15000km, and an independent check revealed that all four shocks on my SUV need replacing. The dealer then took the same model vehicle with only 2000km on the clock, and it's front shocks were also needing replacement as they failed the test. Would love some comments regarding this. Another issue I have is that there is no motion sensor in the vehicle, so anyone can break a window and steal whatever they want, and no warning will be given. PS. Glad to see they have added a light to the cubby hole.😇

Like mentioned in the video, this car is not meant for racing so this won't be an issue for normal driving anyways. My car drives so smooth and perfect through the city and many people already approached me asking my thoughts regarding the car as they are concerned about the payload. While I agree the payload is low, I'm not someone who used to tow caravans or trailers anyways, so it doesn't really bother me. I did my research not just based on YT videos, but also the internet and compared this car with other in the similar category in the market and this one really had a lot more to offer for the price. If I had to buy a Toyota Hilux or a Ford Raptor or a Land Cruiser in 2023 for nearly double the price, I would expect some advanced tech and looks/modern design especially in the interior. These Toyota cars look like their interiors were designed in 2015. I test drove all these cars and I honestly couldn't feel any difference in terms of driving capability and comfort but I loved what GWM have done with the Tank's interior (for the fraction of the price). You can call it a copy of Mercedes G-Wagon, but hell, which brand doesn't copy design/tech/or anything in today's market. I know Toyota have been well established in the Australian market since decades but that doesn't mean other manufacturers cars are not worthy enough. I would give this car a 9/10 today, 9 only because you guys who tow trailers and caravans know that this is not for you. Apart from that I would say, you gotta be in it to feel it. I'm least concerned about the resale value as I'll own this car for maybe 6-7 years as soon as the warranty expires, I'll sell it and buy something else. For me, how much money I spend out of my pocket TODAY is more important than what I may get back in 6-7 years back. Also market is changing, used vehicles value keeps going up and down. With the quality of cars GWM is throwing at the market today, I personally believe that their cars are going to substantially create a huge presence in the market in next 5-6 years and the value MAY increase. (Again this is just my personal opinion, I may be wrong as well, but who cares). I'm definitely happy with my Tank. Thanks GWM.

@@fablehaven3653 Does that involve a brake test? If I see a car do a stoppie when braking I don't need a rating to tell me all I need to know about its "safety". Having all the electronic nonsense to stop people texting from hitting the car infront is all well and good but when its obviously unstable that should be a big mark down. Imagine that round a bend or over a crest. Or towing.

Love that it is called a "tank". In all my driving life, on a narrow road, 80% of the time I would be the one to pull over. I have a two door JL Wrangler. On a narrow road, I think the other driver does not see a jeep, they see a tank, and pull over. I Love My Jeep!

Sat in and looked over one today. I was surprised how good it was. I wouldn’t buy one yet, I think the problems will come and be fixed on the next gen. I’d rather buy a rexton for the same money who are proven and established. Good job though GWM, this for the money shows just how bad Ford, Toyota and a few others are at ripping off there customers. The prado and Everest are way way way overpriced.

A base model tank 300 cost 48k on road. A similar base model prado gx 5 seater costs 67k. Real difference is resale value, you have to factor in additional cost of 10 to 15k to tank 300 in resale value. If you add them in then the difference further reduces to 10k. Check LDV car prices which are 2 to 3 year old in car sales australia for a comparative study to draw parallels. If difference between toyota and gwm is 10k, id go with toyota any day. Nevertheless tank 300 looks amazing on the road, i also test drove it and felt good. Gwm is smart, they dont want to flood the market with tank 300s, they are now releasing 500 then 700. It will be released slowly, 3 to 5 years later we will start realising re sale issues.

It's somewhat connected. Hey Paul, I bought a Fiesta ST in 2020. largely based on your very first vid, in this format/channel (amongst others). I have enjoyed ther heck out that car but now, Ironically, I'm trading it in for one these Tank 300's. Meanwhile, the war between impractical cars in my garage has been waged, and then comprehensively won . The Fiesta goes, The Tank300 comes, and the excellent, updated BRZ stays. Appreciate your many, many reviews Paul. 🙂

This is what the Suzuki Vitara SHOULD have been like. Not some Inner City crap box. Lets face it Paul.. Its a 4x4.. Not an AWD. Whilst the Everest and Prado are in a completely different class... I like a lot about this, but i think the review should have mentioned the payload figures: it is well behind the competition and will severely limit any potential treks away from amenities. It was released before the Bronco, so i guess it gets a pass on the headlights design. But copycat vents are slightly annoying.

Sure it'd be good for a day trip on the tracks but without gvm upgrade available, it's not a tourer and will even struggle as a weekender. Throw on a bar, bigger wheels, dual battery and fridge and you'd be hard pressed putting 2 adults and 2 kids in legally.

It would be interesting to see the moguls with the "pothole" mode selected. It seems the Chinese have decided to forgo traction control in off-road situations, which is fine given twin diff locks. Calibration of all that inter-related stuff like lane keep seems tofu dreg standard.

Gotta give the Chinese props for giving zero f*cks about 'trade marked' design from other companies. I mean why not? Why not pick the good bits of other vehicles and mash them together? If they are offering a reasonable vehicle at a reasonable cost then good on em.

Not sure if you have been reading the news lately but China is the biggest car market in the world, it's not the third world country some think it is, all car makers are trying to get in there. The volume of cars they get through there is mind spinning compared with Australia. GWM is one of the most successful brands in China whilst competing with Mercedes and Toyota. So it's well and truely tried and tested, much more so than if it was successful in Australia.

@@johnwayne8475 Sure it’s one of the biggest car markets. And you get a lot for the money you paid specially the interior But that doesn’t mean that the cars will be reliable and parts will be wildly available. Actually looks really nice. It looks like a cross between a bronco and a wrangler. Not sure how the resale value will be or the reliability of it. But if both of them stack up ok, then I think it will be a winner in the countries that its available. Not available here in 🗾, and doubt it will be. I have a new Toyota Land cruiser prado diesel, so not likely to be changing my car anytime soon. They need a diesel in that car not that underpowered petrol. But for the money this company are on to a winner. I think if they can iron out the kinks such as improve the 4wd system, stiffen the suspension just a little while maintaining the same amount of articulation, change those stupid low profile car wheels for some proper 4wd wheels then its going to be hard to beat in a year or two. Yep I'm quite impressed with this car. But reliability needs to be proven, then it will be a game changer for many people.
