Just got one. Brilliant and silky smooth. So refined. Program 4 parameters and it does exactly what you want when you want. Shifts quicker and smoother than any human can. Why be a stubborn purist about manual shifting with a clutch? Best bike I’ve ever had in 40 years of riding. Hard to believe. This is the future with Honda leading the way. Others will follow.

I think this will be my next bike. Changing gears was a nice novelty on my first bike, but I've had automatic cars for 45 years now, and I'd never go back to manual. I think I'd really love this bike for all the same reasons I prefer automatic cars!!

How it is in city riding? Is too bulky or heavy for city with bad traffic jams. Is it okay for lane splitting? I too think that dct is perfect for city or chill rides.
@mikemccormick8115
@mikemccormick8115 7 ай бұрын
@@bataganbat7178 Everything I mention refers to city riding as far as ease, refinement, smoothness, and simplicity of use. I do mostly city riding. Its also powerful and smooth enough on highway with plenty of passing power, up to 110 mph where it has a speed limiter (or is it 100?). I never go above 90 anyway. Compared to most cruisers, at 508 lbs wet weight, that is fairly light. As far as bulky, no, for a middle weight class bike it is not bulky. It feels like a slammed low bike as seat height is only 26” or so. It feels light and nimble compared to any 1200 cruiser I’ve ever had, and that includes many brands. But compared to the Rebel 500, also a FUN FUN bike, sure the 1100 is bulky and heavy. If you never go above 60mph and if you’re always in traffic, the lighter, narrower 500 is better but the scooter style operation which is ideal in heavy traffic still favors the 1100 until they make a 500DCT. Funny I am in Thailand right now and renting a scooter, the only way to get around here. I had a 500, but it was weak and buzzy on highway with my 200 lbs on it. So I traded in for the 1100. Lane splitting- I cannot say. In Vegas where I live, I don’t do that. Handle bars dont seem too wide and stock mirrors aren’t out there far but that would be some research. To me the Honda 1100 DCT is the end all, do all bike, and the last bike you will ever have. What bike is out there that can do all it can do? Nothing close. Hope that helps. PS. Honda makes a large 750cc scooter, perfect for heavy city traffic and it goes on highway too. A buddy of mine loves his. But if you want a gorgeous badazz bike it’s the Rebel.

I bought mine last month. Love the bike. Thought after 56yrs in the saddle I'd never own a bike like this as I've always owned sport bikes or off road bikes. Over a100 bikes later, here I am. Love the DCT. The seat was the first thing to go, opted for the Mustang. Put a taller windscreen on it (Honda) replaced the foot pegs and added a bar riser with a 1" back. It's now perfect for me!

The most industrial looking bike I've ever seen. Looks like it was designed behind the Iron Curtain in 1963. It's a purely functional machine stripped of all the romance that makes most bikes cool. Is this a bad thing? NO IT IS NOT. For the money you get a great all around bike that has more power than any cruiser Honda has ever made except the Vtx1800 (Runes don't count). It has a lot of electronic features and is very up to date. I wouldn't get the DCT tho for a lot of reasons. It's so ugly it's beautiful. I'm a fan.

It’s not a cruiser. I have a Manuel 1100. It’s a naked sport bike with a cruiser skin on it. It’s faster and handles better than other cruisers, but not as comfortable. I have a 2021 Can Am Spyder F-3S. They all now come with a semiautomatic transmission. 6 forward gears and a mechanical reverse gear. Love it. 1330 cc triple. It has paddles to up and downshift, however it will downshift as you slow down but you must upshift, downshifting is always automatic however you can downshift using the paddles. The comment at the end about wishing the HD Sportster S had the DTC is cool. The Sportster S or the Fat Bob 114 are my current dream bikes. I'm a noob and looking for my first year learning bike. Honing in on the Rebel 500. But I've been thinking a lot 'it would be cool if Harley started offering these DTCs!". The idea of the DTC is so cool to me that I've very lightly thought about 'should I just get at Rebel 1100 and be done with it? No Sportster S and Fat Bob 114 later?' but I just can't bring myself to do it. The Sportster S in particular is just so awesome and the Fat Bob would be great for the kind of 2up riding I want to do with my wife. So just going Rebel 500 with its traditional manual is likely the path for me.

I have the 2018 Honda CTX700DCT, and I love it. But I had to put a custom Corbin seat on it. Anyone under 150lbs will be fine with the stock seat. But I can ride for hours and hours with the Corbin. I have the bags and I can also do a light grocery run on that bike. I want to upgrade to the Rebel 1100T next year. Hope they make the saddle bags bigger by that time.

End it sounds so good because of the 270° crank. Sounds more like a V-twin than a parallel twin and feels that way too.

Its basically the same without the africa twin engine and the frame is slightly different. Handle about the same and I'm not sure but I think the new 500s have the same tech package but I could be wrong. Daily Rider over at Revzilla did a good review of a 500.

The moment someone says “it does everything for you”, I know they have no idea what they’re riding. Paddle shifting is a skill you need to learn when going to the canyons on a DCT, even in the city. I’ve owned my Rebel DCT for 2 years and it is the best motorcycle I have ridden so far. Chase, take her to the canyons and you’ll know what I’m talking about. Also, “active experience, my a$$”

Metric cruises always look very, metric. It’s like they have all the right parts but the dimensions are a little off. It’s not a bad thing but it’s like a police sketch artist was told what a bagger looked like, having never seen one, then passed the pic over to the design team. At any rate, not a bad looking bike but I do have issue with how high that tank is. It’s like the made it 6 inches longer then squished it to get the wheelbase they wanted. I’d ride it though. Bet it will give any bagger the “what’s up” in the corners. Seems like power is good and handling is good. Always enjoy you videos and appreciate all of the video angles.

They definitely need to quit calling it a Rebel😂 I bought my wife one and I like riding it. Don’t let the DCT turn you off- it’s actually pretty cool. I ride a VTX1300 so I normally don’t ride an automatic. I don’t mind the DCT like I thought I would. I’m 5’ 10” and I feel tall on the 1100. The seat is the worst I have ever sat on unless you count an army gamma goat.

I have a CB1000 R. I love blipper but the DCT sounds like a wonderful proposition. Riding is difficult enough. Getting your mind just focused gas break and steering ❤. This spec you got with the bags. The paint. Hope it comes to Canada. Looks like street glide if you squint 😅.
