A little clarification is needed on eSave. The Wrangler 4XE does not have a "gas only" mode. It is always a hybrid. Also Electric Mode doesn't eliminate the gas engine. It prioritizes the electric side but will still start the engine when demand is high enough. The Wrangler 4XE is always a hybrid. The various modes just alter the bias of the hybrid system.
@LCR3 жыл бұрын
ESave depends on how you configure it. It can indeed, like you said, be set to prioritize the gas engine. But it can also be configured to put extra charge into the battery, which is what ours was set to. That means that the gas engine is continuously running, and no charge is taken away from the batteries, practically making it run like a non-hybrid vehicle. This is done so that the electric mode has the maximum range available when you need it. You are right that when the Jeep runs out of battery charge in electric mode, it will turn the gas engine back on. So yes, it is mostly a matter of prioritizing different motors, but eSave is a little more than just that.

A little clarification is needed in regards to MPGE. MPGE is not MPG. MPGE is not a "combined gas mileage". It is an efficiency rating applied to electrified vehicles when in electric mode only. The rated hybrid gas mileage is 21MPG. There is a formula used to determine MPGE.

‘Torque loss’ at low rpm you mention is only in 2H, switch to 4H-Auto and the 6 cyl is not going to beat you. I would also describe it more of a transmission lag in 2H rather than torque loss (but same result) in that in 2H the transmission seems to be waiting longer to kick in the engine at full throttle.

Yes; imagine solar panels with an efficiency that can make the car entirely energy-independent during daytime. I'm afraid though that the weight of a car/SUV is too high to ever achieve that goal.

I wonder if and how it will be released by Jeep, since currently, the hybrid batteries are under the rear seat. That rear seat has a lot less room in the 2-door version.

@@LCR that’s a really good point. There are video out there of people test driving a fully electric 2 door but I didn’t ask myself that question. I’ll check those video out to see if they mentioned it.

Maybe the lighter weight of the 2-door will offset the smaller battery capacities, or they'll place extra batteries in different spots. It'd be interesting to see!

Now let's just get that Jeep, yank the 4 silly and the batteries out, and drop a fat inline 6 in that engine bay. 😆
@davidcarrico33853 жыл бұрын
Why? Throw the 4xe in 4H-Auto and only the 392 will beat it (375 hp and 470 lb torque). And that’s even when the battery is supposedly depleted because it always keeps 15% in reserve for those power demands. It’s no slouch off road either and that torque comes in handy.

It's not a electric car ! A Hybrid , maybe
@LCR2 жыл бұрын
It's a plug-in hybrid. So contrary to a hybrid, it can drive in full electric mode for a while when fully charged. Another difference is that the battery can be charged from an external source rather than just regenerating brake energy.

This is the most biased review I've ever seen do you even talk about coal-powered, Which isn't true because we used hydroelectric power Canada
@LCR2 жыл бұрын
What I'm trying to say is that the environmental benefits depend on your secondary energy source. Hydro is clean energy so there it indeed makes sense. That being said, Canada still has 9 coal power plants in operation so what I said also applies to your country.
@admireandinspire45252 жыл бұрын
@@LCR you continue pushing gasoline-powered propaganda oh, it's time you start looking forward to the future and realize that internal combustion motor is coming to an end and 13 years from now there will be no internal combustion motors made:-) so prepare to sell off your inventory before it's too late, Welcome to the Real World
@LCR2 жыл бұрын
Switching from gasoline to coal is just not going to help anything. You have to do your research if you really want to do something for the environment. If the electrical power comes from a clean energy source, then producing hydrogen for example and driving on that will absolutely help reduce emissions. But you'll have to understand where your electricity is coming from, otherwise you're just virtue signaling while making matters worse.

Do you really care? Or do you just want to pretend you care to feel better about yourself? If you really care, then do your research. They add with gas. No good. Still use gas. Need to stop depends on gas. Built full electric without gas, plus here said only 21 miles every full electric charge? Too short. No good. Not worth for me to buy it. Or trade my jeep with gas. Plus there not enough electric stations around. Hard find. Too few, too many new gas stations that still builting. Stop builting gas stations and start built more electric stations. And fix for longer trips. Not going stop every 21 miles to full it up again again again didn't make any senses to me. Why they trying to sell electric with gas together? Seems not really about to save Earth. They failed. They still put gas, oil in it. Stupid
