Great video, a very relevant comparison. I really think few people will cross-shop either vs. the germans, not least because of pricing. The likely cross-shop IMO is Stinger vs TLX-S vs Q50/60 vs CT5-v. And in that cohort, in Canada, the pricing makes it a fairly easy decision, as you said. We got great deals here on the Stinger. Stinger, Golf R (less so in Mk8 form), and Elantra N were really great value here, which made our calculus a bit different than other regions.

The Stinger is obviously the superior product from an engineering perspective, it's a true RWD based sedan/fastback with an underrated engine/trans combo. I owned one and still miss it to this day. However, I have a soft spot for the TLX's exceptional looks! Reliability-wise, the Stinger's V6 is a proven engine, many examples oalready on the market with 180,000+ miles with only regular maintenance, which is remarkable for any turbo engine. The Acura probably won't last as long and it's kinda embarrassing that the Honda V6 still uses a timing belt.

The Kia you know back then isn’t the same, is a machine that can get better, improved and upgraded. Let’s give credit where it’s due, lest we be fool. It’s all comes to how you maintain it and take good care of it in the end isn’t?. We all buy this machines for different reasons; myself I love good shape or design! Usually people see your outside of your car before they can say “Nice car” unless you let them peek inside. 😂. Honda, Acura…Japanese is reliable, my first car was as a Honda and still kicking!. The exterior looks is completely subjective, IMHO the front and rear of the TLX is better but the side profile I'd like the Kia, what the testers are missing is the build quality ,reliability and resell value of a Honda/Acura product, been in production since the early '60's and they are passionately involved in motor sports currently dominating the pinnacle of Racing in F1 with Red Bull, for me you have to take that into consideration when comparing a Brand of Honda's reputation vs a upstart Kia brand.

@megatrolltrollington8 ай бұрын
@PRNTestDrive so you believe that the stinger went past its prime in the first generation? i guess bently, rolls royce, ashton martin, bmw, and mercedes are all diluted then, since their cars have been in production for more than 5 years. Its interesting to me that you seem to believe cars dilute over time rather than being improved based on customer feedback and research (something that kia has less of than other manufacturers). I guess todays f150s are all diluted compared to the first production year for that model? Let not talk about the f150 raptor though, by now, it's diluted.
@megatrolltrollington8 ай бұрын
To be clear... i acknowledge that some features do get diluted over time. Like physical climate control inputs, piped in engine audio, computer nannys, and planned obsolescence. However, i would say overall that companies improve their cars for the better over time, based on market demands (even if the demand is for the car to not exist). If the stinger gets cancelled, its because not enough people were buying them, not because it was too good to keep producing, lol.

Im a Acura guy. I would laugh when I saw Acura super handling all-wheel drive at one time. I'm like who's ever heard of their all-wheel drive system and then I ended up getting a 2010 TL all-wheel drive and they nailed it. So I waited forever for this type S to come out and it finally does and I am extremely disappointed in the car. They kept talking about twin turbo and you find out single turbo twin scrawled they talked about a major boost in torque we must have way different definitions of that. maybe it has 60 more than the regular TLX At press day they had a Audi S4 that they claimed wasn't touched and the type S would beat the S4 every time. In reality, the S4 destroys it. And by the way, the K5 beats the type S in a race. They said it was the most rigid frame they ever made. There's no way my 2010 TL had no roll.. If you would sit on the back after you opened the trunk lid it barely went down at all. And when I say barely I mean you almost don't even feel that it went down at all . In Acuras own videos of the type S you could see it rolling. And on top of it my TL would hang with that car in a race The type S would beat it but it wouldn't destroy it and it should. The 4th Gen TL was the first true torque vectoring car and first true surround sound Stereo and they put bigger rotors on the back than the front so the car didn't dive down when u had to hard brake giving you better control of steering since you didn't have all that weight diving down at the nose of the car with the bigger brakes on the front. I meant brilliant engineering. I don't know what happened to him on the type S they make the hood longer to make it look like it's a rear wheel biased all-wheel drive system issue with that is if you know that you already know that and if you don't you're not going to care. That decision takes away from the leg room in the back. I'm 5'10 and I couldn't sit behind myself in that car because of that stupid move they did. I ended up getting a stinger a 22 scorpion model I'm surprised I didn't hear any mention of how great the all-wheel drive system was in the Acura since that is supposed to be I think the third generation of super handling all-wheel drive along with four steering . The only thing the type s beats the stinger in is probably the sound system but that doesn't mean stinger sound system is bad Cuz it's amazing 700 watts 16 speakers. Two subs in it. It's the first car I had that had a factory stereo where the bass gets harder when you turn it up where most will start to go away. I mean you would think there's a bigger sub in the back during some songs. But knowing ELS it's got to be little better, but I don't think the common person could tell the difference between it two. And I might have missed it. But I didn't hear you guys talk about the active exhaust in the stinger where you can open and close to two outside exhaust. if you're looking at the back of the car and how the seat grabs you when u put it in sport mode. Or the self-driving mode it can do? What they should have done with the type s is basically what they did with the RLX Sport hybrid which was in a way a detuned NSX setup kind of which was another car I was looking at when I was getting a new vehicle after I was done with that type S and disappointed. I also drove the g70 but I was not impressed with that and again that car I couldn't sit behind myself in that and when I say that that means there's no way I'd want to be back there for any period of time. And getting out of the back in the g70. Forget about it. You would have to twist your legs a certain way. It's ridiculous. At least till x wasn't that bad to get out? And I'm not tall. You got it sold me my stinger looked like you could have been in the NFL playing on the line. I had him sit his driving position and sit in the back and he was fine and I already did that knowing it was fine but I just wanted to see if I had someone bigger in the car. And the one thing that my TL did was weight and heat killed the car. I don't feel any of that in a stinger ever. How was the type S if you did anything with extra weight in the car while driving?

And thats why I still stand by what I said about the Type S was an after thought on this car. Acura isn't developing their vehicles to the same level that others do when they take things seriously. Had Kia created the Stinger on the same platform as the Optima, it would have been a failure, but Honda takes the 9th Gen Accord platform and makes this TLX and we're supposed to see it as a complete build from the ground up? No way. Older Acuras were great, the TL you've got was one of my favourites.

its simple, Acura is no longer the brand it once was. It's a complete joke, fueled by a bunch of marketing performance nonsense and now with their 1st EV vehicle, being a GM, they have said on record, that they hope their customers are completely oblivious that it's a GM product. They clearly don't give a damn about their customers, so why should anyone defend this brand of 4 vehicles? The competition has better quality vehicles, that not only have the performance part right, but also great fuel economy with better options. I'll give credit where credit is due, with all their marketing bs, the Integra-S is the only model that plays the role correctly with a proven aftermarket support and is a 6MT.

@@i.d.6492 to the Arteon's credit, it did have one of the most aggressive launch control systems ever (4000-rpm launch, 0-60 in 4.6 seconds).
