Excellent review/analysis, the only way that Lexus can be fully appreciated is by experience. The brand defies the spec sheets in its totality in my opinion. It will explain itself if driven. Excellent review, at least drive the Lexus before you buy, spend a half hour at the service bay, and understand in real life on real roads that spec sheets do not tell the whole story, or consider "everyday" use.

Such a great review with a really informed and accurate summary. As someone who just traded in a BMW 330i for an IS, I can attest that BMW has engineered all of the soul out of those cars. They’re razor sharp and very fast, but the engine sound, feel and soul is gone. This IS350 brings me back to my earlier BMW days when they had lots of road feel, driver connection, great 6 cylinder sound. The IS350 has all of that plus awesome resale value, a killer Mark Levinson sound system and more reliability. Couldn’t be happier with it.

To be such an “ outdated “ car , my dealership can’t keep them , sold before they hit the lot . I went to look at one in the beginning of Sep. - Six coming in , all but one was pre-sold , I put down a deposit on the last one coming in . Landed this past weekend, two people saw it there and wanted to buy it before I got there to finalize everything. The best way I can describe what it’s like to drive , is , you feel at one with the car , it just feels so good to drive . Mine had the optional Fsport exhaust and that just adds to the experience even more 🤤

@sly92632 жыл бұрын
@@sergiopereira9546 I owned a Pontiac G8 GXP and a Cadillac CTS V for over 10 years combined. I fully understand the point and probably better than most prospective owners. It's the value proposition/pricing that I disagree with in principal. Contrarily, I do see the value in an LC500, despite carrying the same infotainment (though it arguably should have been updated as well). As we all know, Lexus tends to lag behind when it comes to tech updates however in the case of rugged performance/reliability (GX) and unique/handcrafted design (LC) they have a solid proposition, IMO.
@Cleofizoid2 жыл бұрын
@@sly9263 if you really believed the 2022 or 2023 IS was going to have the new infotainment...you haven't followed Lexus and their methods. You're just expressing your "wishes" and not reality.
@sly92632 жыл бұрын
@@Cleofizoid I get that you're weirdly offended by my opinion in your passive aggressive reply. It's absolutely realistic to expect the 2022 infotainment integration for a new, 2022 trim level on a vehicle. Of course Lexus is known for being the last one to the party with updates to their vehicles, but that doesn't somehow invalidate or imply that consumer expectation is wrong. The #1 complaint about Lexus vehicles for the better part of a decade is how poor their infotainment system is. Also, mark my words- they will have to step up their game in that regard in the coming years if they want to stay competitive. They're not going to continue to be able to beat that reliability drum running port injected engines on half their equipment anymore. That's been their primary demographic to date. They're now moving to much more complex architecture with their turbo 4-6's and dual direct and port with D4S. They're likely to see the same issues as any other large brand- Toyota is seeing it already and we know Lexus models soon follow suit once they catch up.

I laughed-out-loud at the 'Spec Sheet Glory Hole' comment! 🤣 I think you're right, get it now while you can and spare yourself the 'shoulda-woulda-coulda' that'll soon follow. Lexus truly follows the Kaizen methodology and the 2021 IS refresh is (in my opinion) the ultimate Gohan Beast form. Everything that needed to be made right with this 2014 chassis has been done and it's wonderful. The IS 500 is the purest definition of Jekyll and Hyde, it's supple when you want it to be and in manual + sport plus, it is a performance vehicle. Personally, I love the induction noise and I have the ASC turned all the way up. I do not need an exhaust because the rumble of the V8 is more than sufficient, plus...I live in a condo and I like my neighbors. 😀

Brother I have a quick Question, my friend has an NX 350 turbo which I think has 317lbs of torque, does it make it quicker than the IS 350 F sport? On rolling or takeoff? Really need to clarify this.
@MeynMotorGroup2 жыл бұрын
Perhaps off the line turbo engines make power down low then it dies off on the top end. This is the opposite of a naturally aspirated engine that doesn’t produce much power down low but keeps building power the more you rev. Which is why NA engines are more fun to drive plus they sound way better than any stupid 4 cylinder turbo. The NX also rides like trash and isn’t a very good product and this goes back to what I was saying, don’t worry about specs and silly drag races because it has no bearing on how something drives or feels. If non of this matters to you and you don’t care about driving, honestly just get a Tesla model 3.

To me, the weakest link in this car is the transmission. It's not as bad as Infiniti, but it's no ZF. IMO, that makes the relative power deficiency even worse. Otherwise, I could see why someone would want this car. The competition is stiff in this segment and Lexus just hasn't done enough to keep the product fresh. The lackluster transmission is enough more me to look elsewhere regardless of how good the engine may sound. It comes down to the priorities of the buyer.

Our cars have 2 cats straight off the collector or manifod that have O2 sensors aft of them. Then the mid pipe has secondary cats with no sensors aft. They can be deleted without throwing codes. The GT Haus Musa valved exhaust is a beautiful looking and sounding exhaust, but LOUD, super loud and too loud for me. I love the looks of the stainless version, but not the cost. It's over $6k. The titanium version? If you gotta ask, you can't afford. The RR Racing stainless cat back is around $2,800, the axle back portion is painted matt black to blend in, and though loud is just about right for my ears. Both systems come as a secondary cat delete. The RR Racing does have an option to replace the oem restrictive secondary cats with Gesi or Kooks Hi Flow cats. I don't believe they've sold any yet with that option. Which makes sense actually, most won't want to spend $1,200 extra for secondary cats to quiet down a system meant to increase flow and be louder hehehe. The possible perfect system in my mind...nobody's heard it...would be the GT Haus axle back with the RR Racing mid pipe w/Gesi high flow secondary cats. Decisions, decisions. It's early yet for this car and the aftermarket is just now catching up...we'll see. Took off work today and getting ready to take it to my Lexus dealership for the complementary 6 month or 5k miles service and oil change. Picked it up from them 26 Mar 2022...and it has 957 miles on the clock.

There’s an “exhaust system” option under Accessories when you build the IS500. I wonder what that is…

@MeynMotorGroup2 жыл бұрын
There’s no point in casting pearls at the swine. I know that better than anyone. This is why I never “convince” anyone to do one thing over another. I just present the facts then it’s up to the individual to use their own discernment to make a purchasing decision and I certainly don’t give a piss what someone else does with their own money. I’m fully aware people worship their car & favorite brands while blindly putting them on a pedestal. Let them continue to do that if worshiping scrap metal makes them happy.

Brand loyalty is for idiots. Buy the best product that meets your requirements. For some, this car checks the boxes, for others, not so much. This car isn't the best in class at anything, though it will meet the requirements of many people. This car could have been great if Lexus had invested the money to improve it. Instead, they decided that pretty good was good enough and left it.

I'm in the market for a new car currently have 2013 e93 335i . Drove the IS 350 awd and it not even as quick as my 10 year old beamer. I love the looks of the fsport 350 but underwhelmed by the performance, however it is cheaper than new 3 or 4 series 440i. The IS 500 is compatible in price but no awd, so still don't know what to purchase (one of those good problems). Will consider tesla model 3 now that the price have come down.

@@pedrot1152 Funny you should ask, I ended up purchasing a tesla model y performance 6 weeks ago. Don’t love the looks, but it’s fast, has way more space and handles well. It’s more expensive than the is 350 and fsport by about 5k, but I barely have to pay for charging (I have home charger and free charging at my job). I’m expecting to save around $200-$300 a month on gas, so practicality won over the BMW’s and the Lexus is 350/500, and the resale value should be good as well.

@darrell96162 жыл бұрын
@@MeynMotorGroup The LC is missing some practicality to make it a suitable daily driver for me. For me, the lack of a 360 camera and spare tire are critical omissions for me. The infotainment system is also terrible, but I could most likely live with it. The seats aren't as adjustable as I would like either. So, as always, nothing is THE best, but best suited to a person's specific situation or use case.
@MeynMotorGroup2 жыл бұрын
Oh I meant street car meaning car to tear up the streets. Of course the LC is totally impractical and has no space.
@MetoFulcurm2 жыл бұрын
Ok, I'm gonna explain simply. A car's looks should be able to convey what the car is all about, as it's designed with intent, not by chance. The IS looks great. Looks much better than the 3 series, C class and 3 series. Audi A5 is really meh. The S5 is too expensive, Audi seems to be overpriced. I configured an IS350 for 46K while 4 (430i) series or C class are both 52K, and Lexus maintenance is also much cheaper. Anything below 4 series or C class is not worth it. I like the grille and chrome of the IS300 but gotta go for the NA V6.
