Very impressed. I just became an owner last week. Not taken off road but on road doing 1200 km over 3 days this car is in all aspects on par with the Prado VX. Prado only has heated and ventilated seats and memory seats extra. Scorpio beats it in interior space, more usb points, better sound of infotainment system. For half the price, I smile all the way. Cant wait to take it offroad.

I am even more impressed than the on road segment. Off road better than many established 4X4 s. Love the captain seats in 2nd row, unbolt and remove 3rd row. Love the absence of those bloody active safty features, it's just a great vehicle for those who can drive.

Agree... the active safety features just breed drivers who are less alert to their surroundings relying on being told what they can and cant do. They are great for the elderly though but a pain for those with all their faculties in tact.

You can use the steering-mounted controls on the right side to make the hill descent speed even slower if you wanted to, I just found out recently in mine and was surprised no one in the media channels has reported it yet in any of the markets Scorpion has been launched. The default speed is just a bit too fast for my liking

In India, the Mahindra Scorpio has made a significant impression and established itself as a popular choice among SUV enthusiasts. It has garnered a loyal fan base and continues to be a symbol of power and durability on Indian roads. The Scorpio's strong presence on the road turns heads and commands respect. Additionally, the Scorpio's performance capabilities have contributed to its popularity. It offers a powerful engine that handles both city driving and off-road adventures with ease. The Scorpio's ability to conquer challenging terrains has made it a preferred choice for Indian drivers who appreciate its reliability and versatility. Furthermore, the Scorpio's spacious and comfortable cabin has been well-received in India. With its ample seating capacity and sufficient legroom, it caters to the needs of larger families or groups. The Scorpio's practicality and utility have made it a sought-after choice for long journeys and family outings. The Mahindra brand itself holds a strong presence in the Indian automotive market, which further enhances the Scorpio's reputation. Mahindra has built a reputation for manufacturing vehicles that are specifically designed for Indian conditions, and the Scorpio is a prime example of that commitment. Overall, the Mahindra Scorpio has left a positive impression in India, combining ruggedness, performance, and practicality. It has become an emblem of adventure and reliability, appealing to Indian drivers who seek a capable SUV that can handle diverse terrains and accommodate their lifestyle needs.

Good to know that it really is a genuinely good entry level 4wd. Pretty much every other real 4WD has priced itself out of an eager market, and the price of this starts at almost the same price as a well specc'd Kia/Hyundai hatchback. People can finally dip their toes into the lifestyle without having to gamble the used car market.

Jimny/Suzuki is a well known name overseas. But, I guess its no big deal for Mahindra. In India, Mahindra vehicles have waitlists lasting many months to even a year maybe. They already didn't have enough parts for the ADAS. I don't know how they even plan on exporting to other markets. I think Mahindra is not well established in Australia and so they themselves are expecting a much lower volume of sales. Or maybe they are planning to increase production. Anyways, I guess Mahindra will also get recognition overseas but it will take time.

@Aditya Karan it's really not. And it's a combo of performance and safety. It takes a calender year to overtake another vehicle and about the same time to stop from 100kms. Performance in those areas dialed up 25% and it'd be an actual real contender.
@anootoshsarkar686
@anootoshsarkar686 Жыл бұрын
Well, as per Australian NCAP (which requires more active safety features, which also come expensive btw) the Scorpio-N does not have full 5 stars, but under Global NCAP it has been tested with a 5-star rating...so it's a very robust vehicle and it's safe. In India here, people take this thing to places like Ladakh which demand performance and safety, and we Indians are very car-punishing people cuz we'd use a car for almost everything 😉 economy you know...whether you should buy this? That's upto you
@dan_hobs
@dan_hobs Жыл бұрын
@Anootosh sarkar yeah I mean it looks the goods for a light off roader no doubt. And not discrediting the ANCAP. All I mean is that the go and stop performance for general driving just isn't there, unfortunately we're spoiled for choice in this market. I could see potential Jimny buyers stepping up into something like this, but I doubt many looking at Fortuner and Ssangyong for that matter would change gears for this vehicle.

So on the Moguls it’s not the traction control doing anything - it’s the rear diff auto-locking. Also it did appear to be in one of the modes as when you placed it in 4H there was also a mountain icon lit up on the dash. Saying your not fond of auto lockers - well the Defender you drove in the towing test recently I watched the display and both the centre and rear diffs locked or partially locked without any complaint. The Land Rover system is just so good. And the traction control works within ⅛ of a wheel slip rotation - additionally it doesn’t wait for slip before engaging - mostly it’ll preempt before slip even occurs especially at very low speeds.

The thing is Mahindra is new to western countries but it is the most reliable brand here in india for SUVs. It doesn't need to prove itself it is already a proven brand.

We indians put national pride in every small tini tiney thing. Have you seen german and korean, Japanese guys bombarding comments like this. Also making a good car is not rocket science nowadays... Anyways my and may be his point is let other people notice and say how great Indian engineering is or how great india is no need to drum it everywhere. That shows us as we are desperate for attention and validation. You can disagree with me but look at every other youtube video in which some indian stuff gets praised and then see the comment by Indian peeps.. This doesn't happen with other countries guys.

I think westerners are suprised by the capability of Indian vehicles for the price. These vehicles had the most difficult market to grow. Indian roads weren't great in the past, the country is as varied as geographically a country can get plus price and quality conscious people.

If this had a v6 in it, I think it will sell a lot easier. Off-road 4x4 guys don’t care too much about on road safety and tech etc or they wouldn’t buy Toyotas 🤡😂

Doesn't need a V6, just needs a remap on the2.2 diesel. Bump it up to 500nm, remove the emissions tuning lag out of it, it would be fine.
@ev0wat
@ev0wat Жыл бұрын
@@einfelder8262 no a remap on a tiny engine will only leave it more highly strung reducing reliability. I’d rather a slightly detuned v6 than a highly strung tiny 2.2L. No remap can help that and plus you lose your warranty.

I don't think they will be able to make a reliable v6. They are good with i4 i6. They are a tractor manufacturer by heart and no Indian company had ever desinged a v6 or v8 on their own. Makers like kirloskar have made some but they are low hp high displacement industrial engines. They should instead make the i4 3l or 3.5l i6. Should be making mkre than 500nm tq from a 3l i4 or i6. If they try their hands on v6 or v8 i could be like one of those jaguar landrover v6 v8s 😂.
