No shame in realizing you're whipped. I would have bailed 2 sections ago! Another great vid. Looking forward to seeing how things finish up.

There is a go around on the website. Did it ok on my klr, but bailed out on my T7

Crap...the more I watch of these BDR's the more I think I'll get a smaller dual sport for those rides. I've ridden so much off road in my life time and the difference between a sub 300lb bike and a big GS is night and day. I suppose the trade off is the grueling ride home on the dual sport. I give all of you credit for managing those big machines off road! Impressive to say the least.

thanks - yes they are a load to say the least....I'm even thinking about getting a Dual Sport just so I can relax...hahah!!! - Enjoy your rides and thanks for watching!!!

Ahhh old County Route 3 from the Prattsville side. No bueno! Very hard to keep the bike from kicking out under you with all those rocks. The other way is easier but still sucks!

Yeah - it was a bear...didn't help having 600lb bikes with gear..hahah!!! - Thanks for watching!!!

this looks like section 2 outside fleischmans ny. i remember this section well. we came the opposite direction. you were almost to the top and past the worst of it. going down the other side would be easy. its only a 2 miles section but it was tricky on big bikes.
@lifesjourneyat50 Жыл бұрын
Thanks - I think we would have but late in day and tackling other section with the bike bikes...we bailed...I did hear it was a little easier going South to North not North to South...I'll be back..hahah!!!- thanks!

@@grego10r never sell me bike bike….ill be back as Arnold will say….haha….but I heard they graded it this fall..so bummer
@kenfisher94289 күн бұрын
@@grego10r Actually not close to the top. I did that section from the other direction and it was much shorter going up. I was whooped by the time I got to the top and was looking forward to an easy decent HA, the downhill was just as technical and seemed to go on forever! I made it up and down without flopping but it took all the skill I could muster. I plan to go back in the spring and try it North to South to see if I am up to the challenge. I does help to be on my KLR vs. those fully loaded GS.

As adventure riders, especially on big bikes, you always gotta leave yourself with 30% of your energy left. If you get into a situation, or two, but you need enough energy to get out safely. I ride solo only so I never break this rule, albeit it’s an I intrinsically inaccurate measurement.

Good video, thanks for posting. Choice of bike is always a compromise, isn't it. That stretch of trail is no problem whatsoever on a DR650 or lighter, you could ride it all day. But the big GS is awfully nice for getting to & from the trail. You don't want to ride a thumper from New England to Dawson City just to go ripping up the Dempster to Tuktoyaktuk. BTDT. The GS would have been nice on the transcontinental leg of that journey 🙂

You really should ride something that was more meant for that type of writing much more enjoyable you can carry the same amount of luggage try something like a KTM with a superior suspension for that stuff your skill level will improve immensely trust me
@lifesjourneyat50 Жыл бұрын
The suspension is fine - I have upgraded suspension....late in day - we were tires...yes these bike loaded down did not help...but to your point it would have helped...thanks! for the comments!

We just did this road. Hill wasn’t that bad. My girlfriend did it with street tires and a blown shock. Don’t really see what all the fuss is about.
