For the same price you could have bought a nice used car that will be better than the Versa in every way. I rented a Versa and it was a miserable experience. I had back pain and it was a deathtrap merging on the highway.

@@user-tb7rn1il3q I disagree with almost everything you just said. Have you priced a decent, low mileage used vehicle? Most are high 20's to 30,000 plus. I've had my 2024 Versa on a 1200 mile road trip. Very comfortable ride, no white knuckles, handles the highway just fine at the speed limit. Only mild negative, is that it gets buffeted around a little bit if you try tailgating a semi. Don't do that, and it rides smooth and true. So easy to maneuver through construction zones.

My 2024 with the Cvt turns 1900 rpms at 70 mph. And the best mileage I've gotten so far has been 40 mpg. In town 32. Mileage was calculated dividing trip mileage by gallons. The computer always shows higher then the actual fuel mileage. Sometimes I regret not holding out for a stick with the S package but I had been waiting over a year for cars prices to become reasonable to buy anything! I can remember a saleshole telling me a base model would cost me $26,000 - $25,000 out the door after offering MSRP out the door. He said maybe he could get me $24,000 out the door. After a year of waiting I still paid about $1200 over MSRP out the door for a SV model. And I had to trade my old car in for that price too! I'm happy with my new Versa. No looking back now lol.

Congrats on your Versa! I think if you change the CVT oil periodically, it should last a long time.

@@youtoobe169Yes I believe so to. Every 30,000 regardless. I just might do it every year regardless of the mileage. My old car had a Jatco Cvt transmission, same as The Nissans my first change was done at 80,000 miles! It lasted 14 years and 150,000 miles. I did a second change after 60,000. It never slipped. When I traded it in the trans was making a noise that you could hear when slowing down. A trans shop told me it was the cv joints but to other places said it was coming from the trans itself. The car needed a paint job as the old paint was coming off and then the trans noise or cv. I drove it that way for many miles. But the trans never slipped! That car also had an external trans cooler. I think that might have been the reason why I was able to get away with a 80,000 change. Nissans don't come with one. Plus Nissan switched fluid manufactures some time back after years of failed transmissions. I believe this might have been the reason for so many trans problems with Nissans. My Mits used a different fluid yet it was the same trans as The Nissans, plus the cooler. So yeah as long as I don't wait 80,000 miles to change the fluid in this Versa I believe I can get 200,000 miles or more out of this trans. I certainly believe I can at least equal the mileage of a clutch which is no small bill to replace.

I did test drive a used 2022 with a stick with less then 20,000 miles. The clutch's throw felt a little short and a little harder then I thought it should have felt. I never had a chance to compare it to a new Versa.

Thanks for all your Versa videos. You were a big influence in my decision to buy a 2024 Versa manual in August. Love it so far. Getting around 42.5 to 43.3 MPG mostly rural driving. I was also considering Chevy Trax, but was concerned with the 3 cylinder Turbo and it's dependability/cost to repair. The Versa's tried and true, naturally aspirated, 4 cylinder joined with the manual transmission just seemed to be the more dependable and worry-free combination. The two big disappointments are Nissan's refusal to allow Android Auto and fold down rear seats in the manual Versa. This was very near a deal breaker for me. No excuse for that. I, like you, have always gravitated to manual transmission economy cars - they just make a LOT more sense to me, and are still fun to drive. I guess I have never been someone to find great value in fancy cars. My absolute favorite car was a brand new, 1972 Pinto Runabout. That was my college car, took me on several trips cross country with never a single problem. The Versa is the closest to the Pinto that I have had since. That is a very good thing. Note: Just to dispel the inevitable fire jokes, the fire problem with the Pinto was media induced hype. The Pinto was no more prone to fire than any other compact vehicle of that day - in fact, it was safer than many.

Thanks for sharing! I'd heard that some body styles of Pintos were safer than others, like the wagon.

You were smart to avoid the Trax and that 3cyl turbo engine.
@LyleBialk
@LyleBialk 28 күн бұрын
@@henryjoshual1848 Yeah, I heard all kinds of doomsday predictions when I bought the Pinto - a four cylinder would never last, you couldn't take it on the highway, etc. None of that was true, so I was considering the Trax. However, the doom and gloom for the Trax was a bigger vehicle, the tiny engine and turbo charging a tiny engine. Most mechanics seemed to agree - not a good combination. Perhaps they'll be proven wrong, but I felt better going with the older technology that has been proven dependable.

Just bought one of these from a dealer in McAlester OK. It has been on their lot going on three months. Absolutely none to be found in Tulsa or Oklahoma city. I believe this is the only one in the state for sale. Just a bit of trivia. Since you bought your 2023 the msrp not including destination has gone from 15,870 to 16,130 to 16,390 (What I paid), and now I see some in transit where they have gone up again to 16,680.

I have been searching for a new Versa S stick for months. In the Northeast, the Versa stick appears to represent less than 1 percent of dealer stock. No incentives, no markdowns. I am giving up and cross-shopping the base Sentra---a far better value with far more incentives. I think Nissan is committed to destroying the Versa. They could sell Versa sticks by the boatload for $17k. Instead, dealers stock up on Versa CVTs which no one wants.

@youtoobe169
@youtoobe169 Ай бұрын
Congrats on your Versa! I don't really pay attention to what the RPMs are doing, but I do find that it's easy to clutch in while the right foot is still on the gas pedal for a brief moment which gives the illusion of rev hang. I'd say just ignore the RPMs and keep foot movement smooth and you should be fine.

How would you rate the manual transmission and clutch overall ? Smooth ? I’m just looking for the 70’s -80’s Japanese manual econobox feel. Had a 76 Corolla five speed - no gear grinding in that one or grabby clutch just very seamless . Some in the Nissan forum mention less than smooth clutch engagement .

I've said in other posts, I've driven many standard transmissions, starting with a 1966 Fairlane, three on the tree. Over the years, I've always bought standard transmissions when I had the option, must have owned 10 or so. I find the Versa to be the easiest clutch/transmission to drive. Other than the occasional rev hang, which you can greatly minimize by remembering to let off the gas momentarily before depressing the clutch, it is very smooth.
