Jesse, you guys are exactly where I ended up on my 21 VR1 with stock springs to get it as best I could with what’s from factory, I had none to compare too when I got my sled new, I weigh 205-210, I didn’t mess with the rear blocks because I like the wheelie factor but I get what your saying to keep the front end down, nice to see another viewpoint and coming up with same conclusion I did, great video ! 👍

absolutely. Its very tough with stock components because the suspension can works o much better with the proper springs and valving but we know not everyone wants to mess with that so we wanted to get some type of stock set up for you guys

See the way I was taught was, if it teeters in middle you shorten limiter strap because you want the rails to be parallel to ground. Meaning when you lift back end up and then let down , all of the track and rails hit ground at same time. Instead of the front of track hitting first, hence the teeter totter. To me the way you guys are describing it . Your putting more front spring pressure on the skis to get the front of track off ground ( getting rid of teeter totter effort. )
@weeks350 Жыл бұрын
That’s how I was taught too, the higher you get the front end the worse it’s going to corner, low center of gravity is your friend.
@JESSEJAMES322 Жыл бұрын
so part of your theory is correct. you dont want the front of the track to hit first. the problem with these sleds is the fronts are so soft especially with no preload it doesnt matter where your limiter is the front end is going to collapse and the front of the track will be hitting the ground. we add preload to get that front end to stand up and keep the front of the track off the ground. does that make sense? and yes oulling limiter helps but when you do that you add more pressure to those front springh that cant even hold the sled up as it is and will just make the situation worse. if we had 100 pound or 125 pound springs up front, pulling the limiter then would be a decent idea

Jesse, love the videos! I have a 22 XC850 going with the CA pro XCS skis, also ordered the heavy duty rear torsion bars, I am still lost on which front springs to get to bring them up to 100 or 120 lb springs. trying to put this thing on rails on the trails in Minnesota!

Have you made any adjustments in the center shock? I went from the stock 4” carbide to a Stub Boy 6”. And now I’m getting a lot of ski lift in the corner. Non studded.
@JESSEJAMES322 Жыл бұрын
biggest issue with inside ski lift is teh limiter strap being way too long. with it being so long it allows that inisde ski to come up. if it was tighter it would keep it planted!

Where should the coil spring be set at on the track suspension on a VR1 650. How much thread should be showing from the bottom as a good starting point.

with no weight on the sled. loosen the adjuster collar until the spring becomes almost lose. then measure and ad 1/8 to 1/4 of preload. thats where we run ours

@@JESSEJAMES322 good afternoon, my sled came in VR1 850 non turbo and I tore it all down to get shocks revalved. My dealer says that the 100# ski springs 7041576-458 will not work on the 24 VR1. I ordered them anyway. I’m just checking with you as that’s the number you put on the video.

I have a ‘22 XC 850. My sled felt soft and was pushing in turns, but stayed flat. I put on a pair of C&A pro skis. I added some preload to my front springs. I turned my torsion springs to high along with some preload to my middle shock spring. Now I turn, but I feel like I have a little too much ski pressure. I also gained some darting. Where do I go from here? More preload on my middle shock? Will that lighten my ski pressure?

At 160 lbs I am considering trying the 100 lb front springs on vr1, would this require a shock re valve to match?
@JESSEJAMES322 Жыл бұрын
definitely recommend the 100 lbs springs. That will not need a re-valve for the fronts. we run 1/2 inch preload in the 100 lb springs

@@JESSEJAMES322 Definitely agree but I feel for the average rider the stock XCR is better for most people that don’t want to do springs or valving most of us weigh 200 pounds or more and ride rough trails. Or pick the sled you want and bring it to Bruce or someone to re-valve.
