We got the S with 7 speed manual, rear-drive only, no rear axle steer, no PASM, no PDCC, no front axle lift, no sunroof, no lane-keeping, so it's driver's car. It's very close to this current T model but with more horsepower and bigger brakes. It''s probably 250 pounds lighter than a fully loaded C4S. I might have ordered this car had it been offered in 2021 but with price increases, this car now costs what we paid for ours.

That's why even though I've never owned a Porsche yet, I love these awesome machines because for all their great and fabulous engineering most of all Porsches are so user friendly, they're just so incredibly thought out and they make any driver feel like Michael Schumacher. Awesome, supremely built machines that can be the weekend racer to the everyday commuter if you're so inclined. But my Porsche model is the Cayman S & GT4. But you can't go wrong with any of their models... Simply Amazing Automobiles. A million thanks, Rest In Peace Mr. Ferdinand Porsche, and how we adore your creations and the Porsche Brand.

Especially with the rear seat removed, the 718 GTS is a lot more car for $91k vs $117k for the 911 T. However, I understand the driving experience of a rear engine Porsche is significantly different than a mid-engine variant.

Yes, I currently own a 718 GTS 4.0 and I previously owned a 2019 Carrera T and I see no reason to purchase this car over my 718 other than it is a 911 over a Cayman. I got my 2019 T at a small discount and my dealer called recently offering me a new Carrera T allocation for $10k over MSRP. I do not see this car as the same value as the 991.2, especially not at $10k over retail. The engine in the 4.0 is a lot more special, in my opinion and the 718 GTS has all the performance parts and then some that this T has. Seems like a great car but too expensive at this point and not the value that the previous car was. The only advantage to this car is you can tune it and get the same power as a Carrera S for a lot less money.

"It really seem like Porsche is the pinnacle of automotive engineering, isn’t it?" Is that the excuse for not having as much passion and soul - and as many charming flaws - as Ferrari, Maserati and Alfa Romeo? 🙃🙂 I kid, they are obviously very good but terribly German and Teutonic. Italian sportscars of course have a different flavour, as do Japanese sportscars as do British ones. I'm not sure it is as simple as saying one type of sportscar is "the pinnacle". The 911 is certainly the most developed flat-six rear engined sportscar but the new (rebodied Evora) Lotus Emira is also very good as is the new Ferrari 296 in a higher price bracket or the McLarens, or the GTR or NSX on the Japanese side of things...

I agree wholeheartedly that this IS the sweet spot in the 992 lineup because I own the equivalent in the 718 lineup via a 2021 Cayman T. All of the good stuff standard (PTV, Sport Exhaust, S-PASM, 20" wheels, short-shifter, etc.) from the 718 GTS minus the NA 4.0. If you don't care about leather-wrapped everything, the current gen Ts in the 992 and 718 lineup are super-hard to beat. Mine is a perfect driver's car and gets compliments everywhere I go. The 718 Cayman S is as fast 0-60mph, it’s 115kgs lighter, £40k cheaper, both cars are 2 seaters and the cayman is the better balanced car. If the 911 T was under 1400kgs you might argue it’s worth the extra £40k as it would be the lightest 911 in the range. Thanks again, awesome video.

I agree with others’ comments about high price, however You don’t need to pay the full 130k. Here in Europe 70-80% of these cars are leased. Porsches are holding value so well that actual market is crazy. Realistically in 3-4 years of ownership the depreciation range should be 0 to max 20k. If You buy a 70 or 100k other car you’re going to loose much more money. This the way look at it. If the ownership period is just 1-2 year then You may actually make a profit. Many guys here have enjoyed their Turbo, C2, etc, for Free because people don’t want to wait and accept to pay the list price or more for used cars. That’s crazy! Lease it and use it for free while you can

Is there also an argument to be made that with smaller brakes you also have less unsprung weight and all the benefits that come with it? There's a reason they're doing a launch on Angeles Crest if they view this as a canyon car. Are their dynamic benefits to smaller brakes when off the track? Better steering, braking, acceleration, ride quality, etc.

This is so true. I have a base C8 Stingray without the Z51 big brakes, and I added light weight OZ Racing wheels with non run flat Michelins. The car is amazing on our curvy, bumpy Vermont roads ( Summer and Winter).

The brakes on the base Carrera and this T are more than adequate - just because they are a little smaller discs does not immediately suggest that these base brakes are not adequate even on a track. Why not take a base Carrera in a track and find out if the brakes “fade”. Bet you $5 they don’t fade at all. Porsche upscale a hp and brakes and so on simply to get guys that have to have the largest pay them a lot more money - the reality is the base Carrera is all the car that 99% of guys need for any non- pro use. Also what other cars for $130,000 are “prettier” or have better interiors? I notice your passenger does not name these “better” cars - he just says there must be some out there somewhere. And the corvette is not a Porsche 911 - I own a c8 and A 911 /992 Targa 4 and one is still mass produced with lower quality across the board and the c8 feels like a huge wide car and it insulates you from the road but it is perfect for all my 75 year old friends with wives who want to drive to have lunch at the speed limit. As it is said” there is no substitute” Also even this T is really a marketing gimmick to get more cash out of your pocket. The rear steering thing is really silly in a small car like the 911. It makes a huge difference parking my Panamera Executive / but porsche just threw it on the 911 to get several more thousand dollars out of the customers. Same with PASM - unnecessary. How about getting a real base 2023 Carrera without these extra handling gizmos and a PDK T so the cars are essentially equivalent except for these handling buzzwords. Ideally drive them back to back on roads and on track and I bet you can’t tell the difference. Make sure the wheel sizes are identical as well. Porsche is all about getting guys to pay $200,000 for a car that really is very much the same as the base Carrera for $115,000 … think of the profit margins on the S and GTS and even the GT3. Maybe Andretti could take both cars on a track and get a time tenths of a second faster in say the T or even the S or GTS but it would take an expert to wring that difference out. 95% of all 911 owners never drive them at anywhere near their actual limits of capability in any model. But it does impress your PCA friends to have the GTS on the back lid. Even most base Carrera owners feel “less rhan” as it is very typical for them to change the badging on their car to just “911”. Heck I did it myself. Now I know better. The base car is all any rational guy needs. And also it is a more responsive engine than the S or gTs. The smaller turbo blade spins up much faster on the base and you can tell the difference on country roads. There is a KZbin video of a new 911 GT3 tested against a new base Carrera on a track. Driven by the same driver- a pro- and the difference is actual track time was just several tenths of a second. But one car was $115,000 and the other over $300,000. Rent a base 911 Carrera from the Porsche drive for a weekend and then rent the GT: and you might decide it would be more useful to spend the $40,000 variance on a PTS color and leather everywhere and a Burmeister stereo and so on rather than in hp that is never really used.

The real Touring is the GT3 Touring but that car price has gotten ridiculously expensive because of collectors & speculators who'll most likely hardly if never drive it. I'd have loved if the Carrera T had a naturally aspirated engine but then that'd make the GT3 Touring obsolete

Great review and the Z09/06 comparison is dead on. The current Corvette is not a pleasing car to drive (or look at, I just see a Ferrari knock off), not in the way that the Porsche makes you feel like Iron Man, and let's you experience the road. Thanks again!!

The real problem is the price. Dare you compare it to a Supra? The Supra has a manual transmission and is less than half the price of this car with similar performance. If I am spending this amount of money it would be on a 718 GT car.

This looks like a great car and it’s what I’d want if I could afford a Porsche. However, I could much more easily afford a Camaro ZL1 with the manual. That’s a great driving and sounding beast of a car with with a screaming V8. I know it won’t have the refinement of the Porsche though.
